Gary 0
CD-Trustee is a great package - Partychris put me onto it. It catalogues your CD's almost as fast as you can load a CD into your PC, and eject it again a few seconds later, neither a mouse click, nor a keypress need you make. Once you've loaded all your CD's in this way, it hops onto the internet and adds artist and song title information to all the loaded CD's, and allows you to either search within its own built-in reports or export to Excel or other packages. They also sell a LP/Vinyl version, where you type in the LP title, and it locates the track listings using that information. Main program about $40, and LP bolt-on module about $25 I think. Eskie 0
QUOTE (monkeebiz @ Feb 7 2006, 03:02 PM) I'm not all that techie but do any of these programmes then allow you to print a list into paper format for referal at gigs?? I would have thought that all the above solutions would be able to do that. Someone above mentioned CATraxx, I've used this for years and find it an excellent programme. It's also very customisable so when printing anything you can decide as to what fields you wish to include in any print outs and how wide they should be etc. Anthony Winyard Entertainment www.awe-dj.co.uk, Entertaining London & the South-East! Andy Westcott 0
I type mine manually into an Access database...... But then, I'm always a bit behind everyone else. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/sad.gif
RichardP 0
I wrote my own Access-based Music cataloguing application (which to some extent reinvents the wheel, c/f Cattraxx & CD trustee) but means I can customise as needed. It imports CD info from FreeDB for quick CD addition, prints 'key' track lists, has fuzzy search (so typing in "Aba dncing qn" works, for example), and exports data to my archaic (but gem-like) Psion 5MX PDA, etc. On my (eventual) to-do list is addition of CD Text support and Playlist creator, which would probably include: BPMs, % pitch change between tracks, cue time, fade in/out times and the like, so I can record my favourite subsets/mixes for reference. (I don't DJ as regularly as I wish to, so need reminding!) What do other Mobile DJs look for in cataloguing software, that is relevant to DJing? Anything in particular you wish for? - Richard <a href="http://www.djassociates.org"><img src="http://www.djassociates.org/anims/compres_banner.gif" alt="Join the DJ Associates Disc Jockey Association" border="0" width="468" height="60"></a>
ryandio 0
I use PCDJ, the database function included in the programme works great for me, specially as it accepts wildcards functions, updates itself automatically as you add new tracks to the system, and you can directly load the track from the results screen to one of the players. You just have to be methodically when you Tag the files initially to ensure that you get consistant and meaningfull search results from it. I do however export the programme databases files periodically into an Excel Format to use the more powerful search functions it has, and to use it as a reference for creating proposed playlists. I've never bothered trying to print it out because it would be out of date by the following week. PCDJ uses the Freedb database but I find a lot of the time if I use it whilst ripping a CD, especially a compilation, it returns inconsistant results in naming the files. Such as calling the artist "various" or spelling errors, so I've got into the habit of leaving the function off and renaming the files myself. Raymilkybarkid 0
Catraxx is the one that I have just purchased. I used music collector for 7 years but the last couple of revisions have made it harder to use with quite a few listing problems which have to be amended manually.
