Can I Export A List Of All Tunes I Have On Pcdj Red Mobile?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I use PCDJ and have quite a few MP3's now on my disco laptop. I would guess I have abuot 10,000 tunes on there, and I would like to export the list into Excel or something so that I can print off a list of all my tunes to take to clients etc, without needing to take my laptop.

I have all of my MP3's in a single folder (rather than having separate folders for each artist, genre etc).

I guess I could put each CD through iTunes and paste the detail onto Excel, but that would take forever!

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Hi Mark,

The main PCDJ database is an XML file that contains all the info you need.

http://www.pcdj.com/Manuals/PCDJVJ_UserManual.pdf

(PDF Page 4)

I would strongly recommend copying the file -rather than working on the original...!

If you have a fairly recent version of Excel, you should be able to open the XML file, and create a sheet to copy & style the data as required.

If you have problems- email the xml file to me (email addy on the top of my site)

Hi Jason,

Thanks for the speedy reply! Might be a silly question, but where would I find the XML file?

Im at work at the moment, but will have a play with the laptop when I get home.

Thanks again,

Mark

The manual states that it is in the root of the drive. I've never used PCDJ, so don't actually know.

You might need a Windows Search for .xml - but obviously look around first, perhaps any other PCDJ users can look?

Cheers,

Jason

Never looked for it, but will have a look tomorrow at my gig system and see if I can help with a location for you

BTW the 'drag em all into iTunes' theory would work. Create a new library with different name, make sure you UNTICK copy files to itunes (otherwise it will copy the mp3's), also disable

things like get artwork etc. to speed up the process.

Once all in, just go file-library-export playlist and choose a format for it - job done !

The best DJ between Littlehaven Station and the Rusper Road in Horsham - Probably....
