  1. QUOTE I think I did post a review on here re sound limiters / neighbours & Bose or maybe it was all a dream That must have been one of those mornings where you were still online at 8AM http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif
  2. Even Bose will state that the Bose L1 / B1 System was designed for Musicians, that said many Dj's seem to be managing okay with them, with the only hurdle being the method of connection, which to solve only costs a few pounds. There was a rumour that Bose was designing a system more appropriate to recorded music rather than live PA and aimed at DJ's, however that does remain just a rumour and is totally unfounded. I guess the fact that the existing systems works for both, then why change it. I would be interested to see how the Bose System fairs in venues with Sound Limiters fitted t
  3. QUOTE and the venue itself has no licenses, what would I need ? A PPL License:- Click me Cost £124.17 + VAT
  4. QUOTE If it states anywhere, Not for Public Performance Then we are okay because as I said in the thread earlier - Weddings and Family Functions are NOT Public Performances. Doing Pubs and Clubs with these terms applied may put you on a sticky wicket though.
  5. QUOTE (DJmoonie @ Oct 20 2006, 08:27 PM) So what about cd's burnt from mp3 downloads ? What licenses are required ? QUOTE Legal downloads, burnt to CD have the same ( consumer ) status as shop bought CDs. There is your answer, no license required as they are classed in the same manner as buying the CD Single! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif The only time that you will need a license, is Holding a public event (where you are the promoter) or appearing at a carnival or other outside event where the promoter hasn't obtained a PPL License Appearin
  6. QUOTE (cj_65 @ May 10 2005, 02:06 PM) Hi Daniel - let us know how you get on and what you decide - it really helps to see these comparisons. All the best, Chris. This topic is almost 18 months old! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/whistling.gif

  8. I had a 2005 Astra for 2 days whilst my Co Car was being serviced. I see things haven't improved much under the Vauxhall badge http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/censored2.gif
  9. QUOTE Chris, so what your saying is basically, if your a mobile disco you dont really need one? The Digi licence is for mainly clubs and pubs then? Is that what your saying!!!!! LOL, I wish That would be the cheerfully optimistic way of looking at it. However, this is the UK, and this is the PPL and MCPS we are talking about and so my own take on it is probably slightly different to yours http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif How I see the current situation. Prior to last year, there was no definitive yes or no from the Authorities as to the legality
  10. QUOTE spent 15 years as a semi professional photographer from 1979 until 1994 when I went full time for about 6 years. I have done photoshoots for many corporate clients including an advert for Courvoisier. I have about £5,000 worth of Nikon Digital SLR equipment and half a dozen Elinchrom Flash Monoblocs with all manner of attachments for this type of thing, and I cannot remember the last time I used any of it @Edbray Ed, you could always take out your equipment and blow the cobwebs off it (!) - for the Northwest Meeting, I'm sure that you'd find a few willing to contribute fo
  11. Hi, Welcome to DJU http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif You'll find about 15 topics already discussing this in depth, and a poll Here Other topics which you may also like to read and contribute to, are listed below:- Licensed to Thrill Mobile DJ Licenses - PPL and Digital DJ CD Or Decks Most of the above discuss the Digital Dj License at some point, and you'll probably find what you are looking for. But just to clear up any confusion, the Digital DJ License DOES NOT cover you for using a laptop / pc / harddrive based system at private f

QUOTE (ADS Entertainments @ Oct 19 2006, 10:29 PM) I want to do a set with Judge Pointon soon. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif You'll get sentenced to Life http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif No, second thoughts, pass me the black cap and plug the chair in! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif
  14. At 16 I was earning £35 on a YTS Scheme for 38 hours. Whilst most of the others of the same age were still working a paper round for pocket money! Kids today *Tut* http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif Ian makes a good point, £170 is a lot more than some older DJ's I know are earning, certainly it falls as an average, at least in our Recent Poll and also the two before that one http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/smile.gif . But, if you think your skills are worth more than that, then you certainly shouldn't be persuaded against raising your prices, just

  20. QUOTE I work in a computer shop in the daylight hours and every day there is somone telling me that this or that is a cool place to steal your music, and they seem to think they are not ever going to get caught when I tell them the risks Taking a different viewpoint for a moment, is it not the cheap goods piled high in computer shops which facilitate the easy means of downloading and 'burning' this material in the first place. So who are buying these products if not the general public, so Supply and demand? - I mean don't tell me for one minute that you really believe that all of tho
  21. QUOTE What are your recommendations? Whitby! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif - at least you can drink the water!.
  22. QUOTE try a sound rig, with a 2.4kw amp and a 8x 1000w par 64 cans running from one Dimmer pack, that had a 64A connector to a 13A plug! Then running into a 13A extension reel. Is this not a little exaggeration here Welshy? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif The 13A plug fuse would have died with anything approaching this type of load
  23. QUOTE Mind you, ive seen a whole show, being run off one 13A plug! Nothing wrong with that, providing that the total load is below 3Kw I use 4 lighting effects at 250W each, even allowing for fans and circuitry that is less than 300W drawn from the mains, per effect and so 1200W This gives me 1800W Spare for the Audio side which is more than enough for Dual CD, Mixer and Radio Mic Receiver and a 1000W Amp running into 8 ohms / channel. So theoretically, it could run from one socket. Of course, I still run the Audio from one socket and Lighting from another, as i've
  24. Its even less if you use a piece of unearthed bell wire between the socket and your distribution board, or your mothers old worn iron flex http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif . The socket may be able to supply 13A, but is your cable and any connectors in between, up to the job? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fear.gif I've seen all manner of wiring used by entertainers, including the fully wound 30M 13A Extension lead running an entire lighting rig http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wallbash.gif
  25. I remember you posting about him some months ago, and speaking of the hope and courage that he had in fighting the disease, and it seemed that he kept this right until the end and never gave up. We speak of heroes on the football field and TV, but I think its Kim, and other like him, who show true courage in real life adversity who really deserve the title. Sincere Condolences
