  1. Picked up my 4 Littleds last night. had a quick play with one in the shop and I'm really impressed, as was the shop owner, he said he wished he had ordered more of them. Not quite as bright as a Datamoon, but I'm convinced 4 of them working together will be more than adequate for the gigs I do. I can easily pick all 4 of them up with my little finger, and they're so small, I'll probably fix them permanantly to a short T bar for an even quicker setup. Once I've got them setup, I'll take a video of them and post it up.
  2. If I get asked for NS with no specific tracks, or if I see someone doing NS type dancing, the ones I tend to play are: Judy Street - What Lutricia McNeal - Nine Times Out Of Ten Elle Warren - Shattered Glass Unless it's specifically requested I tend to avoid The Snake. It's a great tune, but round here it's been worked to death. I nearly always finish a NS set with Maxine Nightingale - Right Back Where We Started From. It's not NS, but it has an NS feel to it which allows me to come out of NS into something like Motown. Looking forward to see the suggestions for a ho-do
  3. I personally have them in folders to match the CD's ie: Now 65, Now 56, Rolling Stones 40 Licks, Let's Hear It for The Girls etc. I then have groups set up in PCDJ for Years, ie: 50's 60's, and for Genres ie: Northern Soul, Motown, Jive, R&B.
  4. I did my sisters 60th birthday last night. Was hoping to fit in one of those tunes from the other thread, but I was on edge all night as the sound just didn't seem to sound right, even using the mic. Going to have to have another look at that before Friday. Was frustrated as well because I was asked for Rolf Harris's - Court of King Caractacus, and it would have gone really well after I Am The Music Man, but the damn CD wouldn't play track 16 in either the CD/Karaoke player, or the laptop CD drive. It would jump from track 14 to 17, and wouldn't let me play any track in between. Tried it
  5. Depending on the time factor, I normally allow myself 1 bottle of beer while I'm setting up (if the bars open), and then one after I've finished setting up. After that it's iced water all night. :hurt: because I'm driving. Best drinks I've had was a disco in a community centre/village hall, where they kept me supplied with cups of tea and coffee all night.
  6. I can lend you a couple of moonflowers and a couple of 4 colour traffic light thingys if it's any help to you. Can't remember what the moonflowers are called but they are 250W, and hopefully still working. They've been sat in the storage cabinet for a couple of years. Give me a ring on my mobile from the website if it's any use to you. Paul
  7. Do you have any tracks that you'd like to try playing, thinking they might go down well, but have never had the courage to try them. Two tracks that I'm fairly sure would go down well at the right time are: Bucks Fizz - Making Your Mind Up & Gina G - Ooh Aah Just A Little Bit But somehow, the right time never seems to appear to give them a go. Another one was Nena - 99 Red Balloons, but somebody requested it once, so I've now managed to play that one. How abut you?
  8. For me, the one record I can't stand is Chesney Hawkes - I Am The One & Only :yuck: It usually works well, but I only play it if requested. When my Son's doing a set, he takes great delight in playing it because he knows I hate it. :wall:
  9. You've got me worried now :scared: I've got 4 Littleds on order, hoping to replace my Stairville Earthquakes (same as the Cheauvet Squeeze) so I don't have to carry so much weight. Were you using them with any kind of controller? I've also bought the CA-8 controller to go with them, hopefully so that I won't even need to take DMX controller out with me.
  10. I don't think you'd want to buy one of these Paul, it's just under £2000. If I can't find a wireless system that works then I'll have to cable it up with sockets at a few points around the building, but I'd much rather have it wireless. The player has a built in rechargeable battery, so it would be really nice to be able to just open the flight case, turn it on, and go.
  11. Since my brother died we now have no organist at church, so we invested in a "Hymn Player". It's a brilliant little bit of kit which comes with 2700 Hymns built in and fully customisable. However. At the moment, I have a very long cable going from where I sit at the back of the church to the amp which is at the front of the church. My original idea when we were buying it was for it to be wireless, so there would be no need for cables, and it could be operated from anywhere in church. I bought one of the wireless video/audio units, but this suffered from interference if anyone mo
  12. I had one the other evening from a life insurance company claiming to be affiliated to my bank. I'm sure it was genuine, but when he asked me to confirm my DOB, he got the same answer anybody who rings me gets. "You rang me, you tell me and I'll tell you if you're right" That's usually the end of the call. I look after so many different systems at work, and they all need different usernames and passwords, so I have to keep a list stored away in a safe place. At my age, I do well to remember where I live. :wall:
  13. I've pre-ordered 4 of the Littled lights with my local disco shop and he has already ordered them from Prolight and been told by Prolight that they are due in at the end of the month, and that no UK seller has them in stock yet. I'm really looking forward to carrying around just 5kg of lights instead of the 35kg that I now carry.
  14. Hope your reply above has come out the way you want it Chris. Had a bit of trouble sorting out the double post. :stu: especially as my mouse appears to be on the way out and keeps double clicking for me.
  15. This one was on the telly the other night in a program about the Dirty Dancing film. ZYhlm9GTAQ0 It must be fantastic to be the DJ at a wedding like that.
  16. And another one. When the family arrive at the site in the car, if you watch the outside shot of teh car with the wife in the passenger seat, you'll see the wife has blonde hair. :aa Aparantly, the actress who was booked to play the wife dropped out after shooting that first scene.
  17. Somebody beat me to it. Mind you, I've had to hold off saying it at home till the end of November cos the wife got really fed up with hearing me say it.
  18. ROFLMAO I watched the episode and thought it was hilarious, which was the whole idea of doing it. If that doesn't qualify as "Artistic Integrity", I don't know what does. When I was watching it I thought "some little minded silly sod is going to complain about that", but note - no one in the audience complained. Maybe all scenes in films, past or present, tv progs etc where someone is smoking should be prohibited from being shown. Any shots in newsagents etc mustn't have any cigarettes visible. CSI shouldn't be able to pick up a cigarette end to get DNA off it. :fish:
  19. Must be something in the air. I had a great gig last night too. Best gig I've had in a long time. A surprise 50th for a doctor, organised by his colleagues. Had a full dancefloor right from the welcome and carried on partway into the buffet. Then before the buffet had even finished, they were up again dancing to the background music. Last track of the evening, and there was not one person left sitting down. Oooh, if only they could all be like that. I was begining to think that I must be really carp.
  20. I always sing the first one on Karaoke - Blues Bros-Everybody, changing the spoken bit to something like "I'd particularly like to welcome all the relatives and friends of Sharron who have chosen to join us here at Alford hall to celbrate her birthday" I also use this as the first song in my cabaret act. On a karaoke night, I then play a filler track after my welcome speach bit, and if nobody volunteers, then I do another, and keep this up till people start getting up to sing.
  21. I send a booking form with the terms and conditions on the back (which include payment terms clearly marked) together with a covering letter and stamped self addressed envelope. On receipt of the booking form with deposit I send a confirmation copy of the booking form (again with the payment terms and conditions clearly marked on the back). So, 3 sheets of paper, 3 envelopes, and 3 first class stamps per booking.
  22. I was going to vote, but it wouldn't let me put an amount in without filling in the percentage bit, and I've no idea what that is. This year I've really splashed out. I've spent £500 on an advert in a glossy brochure that the local registry office is issuing, hopefully to come out in the next month. They do over a thousand weddings a year at the registry office, and every person that enquires or books is given one, and they are freely available at libraries, information centres, and all council offices, AND, I'm the only entertainment in it. I worked it out that if I get 3 disco
  23. No gigs for me this weekend, so hoping for a nice relaxing weekend. Nice scary job to do on Saturday though, replacing some bulbs in the lights at church. About 20ft in the air on the roof beams, so when you go up the ladder there's nothing in front of you, just open space all the way to the floor. :scared: I always wait till there's a few gone before I get the ladders out.
  24. Mavericks - Dance the Night Away & Commodores - Easy. Didn't realise about this one till I happened to listen to the words while it was playing as background music at an engagement party last week. :aa
  25. At the DJ Show North in July I saw the Acme Littled on the Prolight stand and decided I had to have them. The guy on the stand said they would be out at the end of August, so I waited till then and then went to my local DJ shop. He checked with Prolight and was told that they're still on the boat from China and were expected at the end of September. I've emailed Prolight twice since the beginning of September, but they can't be bothered to reply. Very dissapointing customer relations. Rang my local shop again today, and he said that the last he had heard was that they were sti
