  1. Cheers Simon But I think you might have mis-read the date. It's week beginning Sunday 9th march next year. If you've still got it next year, I'd certainly take you up on the offer though. We might be able to organise a chain to get it here. Maybe someone in Bristol comes even further North and could be the middle leg Thanks again
  2. Is there anyone in the North West who would be prepared to lend me a powered sub for a week beginning Sunday 9th march 2008 for free. For 2008's Gang Show, I'm having to provide all the music as "canned" music since my brother died recently. We never needed subs before as his keyboard/organ had 18" speakers in it, and this always sufficed. Obviously this time, his organ won't be there and I suspect that I'll have to put a sub or subs in to give the sound enough body. I have one JBL 300W powered sub, but I'm just asking now in case this turns out to be not powerful enough.
  3. Don't forget that a lot of the different brands of speakers are all made by the same factory in China or wherever. When I was looking for covers for my 12" Skytechs, I was amazed to discover, after talking to various dealers, and ending up on a Chinese speaker manufacturers website, that this same company also made the EVSX's and various others too. That's probably why they sound the same as my trusty old EV's. I think that the budget speaker manufacturers have upped their game over recent years, and very often there is no discernable difference between speakers of the same spec from
  4. I'm having the opposite problem. I need to find an instrumental version, and can only find vocal/choral versions. Where did you find a musical version??
  5. I try to play every single track on the music request sheet, but there is only room for 20, and it's in my T&C's. By limiting it to 20, if you play them all, the customer is happy, and it gives you a starting point from which to find other suitable tracks. If somebody wanted me to stick to a set play list all night, I would either turn the booking down, or put a sign on the front of the rig saying "High Fidelity PA Equipment Hire"
  6. Just the Behringer UB1222FX. Have to admit that I was surprised at the difference it made, and the footswitch for the effects was extremely useful when I kicked the night off singing the Blues Brothers - Everybody. Being able to turn the effects on and off while standing out in the open for the talky bits. (I just replace the law enforcement bit with relatives and friends of whoever).
  7. Thanks for all the birthday wishes, it really is appreciated at the moment. Have to admit, and I can't believe I'm saying this publicly, but I am struggling to have a "happy" birthday having just said goodbye to my brother at his funeral on Friday. Even though it was expected, I am struggling to come to terms with the loss as we were so close, and he was such a big part of my life. Still shedding the odd tear now & then. He was such a good man and will be missed by many people which was shown at the funeral as it was a struggle to find enough seating in the church to accomodate e
  8. I'm Soooo jealous. Had a pretty good night last night. Steady stream of Karaoke & dancers, not a packed dance floor, but busier than I've had for a while. Even had some dancing when I was singing. Was really impressed with the new mixer. I was expecting loads of problems with feedback because of the way you have to set up in that venue. With my old mixer, I used to be on the verge of feedback just using my mic for announcements in this place, but I acctually had to turn the mics down because they were too loud, even stood in front of the speakers, and the effects "chorus with del

I'll only be playing the original unless it's on the next Now CD. Played the original 2 weeks ago at a wedding, requested in advance by the B&G.
  10. Engagement party for me tonight, disco with karaoke. In this room again: http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/9/24418520578.jpg Going to be really difficult soundwise for the karaoke. Should be a good test of the feedback detection system on my new mixer.
  11. Sounds like the recording volume to me too. I run all my mp3's through MP3Gain before transferring them to the laptop, and then in PCDJ on the laptop I BPM/Gain scan them all before use. However, even after doing all this there are still slight variations in the volume.
  12. I had the PMH3000 and found it a little underpowered for what I wanted so went back to seperate amp. I'm now using the same mixer though, but without the amp and find it brill. the only disadvantage I found is that the mon out is pre-fader, which I wanted to use for the powered sub, but I've got round this by using the CD out sockets.
  13. I played it at the wedding I did last Saturday, together with an uptempo version of Lean On Me by a group called Mo Indigo, both went down well. Would be really nice to have a higher bitrate version.
  14. Jim missed 5 out of the list of addresses there, just so you don't get confused. All good advice above. just remember, the starting addresses is dictated by the controller as Jim has shown.
  15. Sorry to hear about your gear and hope it all gets sorted out Ok for you. There's a valuable lesson for us all here. I carry a socket tester in the cables bag, but never bother using it before I plug my gear in. But I will be doing in future.
  16. Yes, there is a built in "feature" with the tap display, and I've not heard of any fixes yet. I have a cable from the mixer send socket to the audio in for music sync so I can adjust it, but I did try unplugging the cable recently, and the audio triggering seemed to go mental, racing through the chases at lightining speed. This might be because the unit is mounted inside the rig though.
  17. Best of luck with it Kaz, hope it all works out alright for you. I've been forced out of a job by the employer making it so bad that I quit, but in those days there was no such thing as "constructive dismisal", but that's definitely what it was, so I know how you're feeling.
  18. Quick release keyboard stand for the rig, with the amp underneath, and T bar on a wind up stand for the lights.
  19. Tonight it's a 50th for me. It was originally booked as just karaoke till the band comes on, so was looking forward to a nice early finish. Yesterday customer asked if I would do disco as well, and finish at 1am. I really hate working working after midnight. :wall: Saturday wedding. They're having the buffet at 6pm as the wedding breakfast, then the disco straight through from 7:30 to midnight.

  21. Here you go. http://www.prolight.co.uk/item.php?hdnID=508311 I'm getting 4 of them myself. Saw them at the DJShow North and was really impressed. I've only found one place online advertising them at £59, but it doesn't say if they're in stock or not. Last I heard was that they were still on a boat at sea somewhere. I've just asked my local DJ shop when he can get them and if they will work with a C8 type controller instead of having to use my stairville controller.
  22. Saturday night was a Joint wedding anniversary and the sons leaving party (a soldier going on tour abroad). One of those long nights where nobody danced no matter what I tried, but lots of thanks at the end with compliments on the choice of music played. It's a strange room to set up in. http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/9/24418520546.jpg The bar is on the left, to the right of the bar is a fire exit, and the door on the right is the Gents toilet. (handy if you get caught short). The only power socket is to the right of the gents toilet door, where the tables are. how woul
  23. Can you apply effects to the DJ mic channel as well on the Numark CM200FX? I'm not happy with the sound I'm now getting with my Kam, but need to be able to have 3 mics plugged in with effects available on all 3 mics, and still have the 2 stereo channels for the laptop and karaoke player. Been trying to download a manual for it, but can't find one anywhere, not even on Numarks website.
