  1. :welcome: Think you might be our first member from there.
  2. Most motherboards these days have the on board sound card enabled or disabled from within the bios under "integrated peripherals". Hit delete, or F2 depending on the motherboard just after powering up the pc to enter setup then look for integrated peripherals. If "sound" is there, disable it.
  3. Cheers for all the suggestions people  , certainly plenty to think about. I'm also looking for inspiration for a finale show stopper song. One that pulls at the heartsrings. (These are sung by the whole cast of 100+) Ones I've thought of so far: Reach - Gloria Estafan (Though we have done this one before) Earth Song - Micheal Jackson Can anybody tell me what the the song is that has the lines - We are the World, we are the children?? I suspect it might be one of the "feed the world" type songs and may not be any use, but those two lines keep going round in my
  4. The director of our Gang Show has asked me for my input on specifying a sound system that he is applying for a grant for. This is what he has said so far. ____________________________________________________________ To prove "community use" I am proposing that we construct an application on the basis that the equipment bought using these funds will be used for Gang Show rehearsal periods, the show itself, and as part of an outreach project around the District. Therefore I need to make the application stack up in terms of a mobile/touring facility that could be used by Scou
  5. We've started production meetings again for next years Gang Show, and as my brother, who is/was the musical director is very ill, it looks like it will be down to me to sort out the music this time. So I'm looking to you guys n gals for inspiration. Each "item" in the show has a theme, and the music is based around that. One of them is Liverpool, because it will become the capital of culture in 2008, so I'm looking for music that relates to Liverpool. So far I've come up with Penny Lane - The Beatles In My Liverpool Home ??? Ferry Cross The Mersey - Jerry & The
  6. Coo, pity it's my wedding anniversary on Saturday and I'm taking the wife out, or I'd have come and done the formal bit for you. I take formal to mean Strict Tempo. Foxtrot, Waltz, Quickstep etc. The 80th I did with CrisP the other week, I played loads for them, and they loved it. Here's what I played. Chattanooga Choo-Choo (Foxtrot) - Glenn Miller A String Of Pearls (Foxtrot) - Glenn Miller American Patrol (Quickstep) - Glenn Miller A Foggy Day (Quickstep) - Victor Sylvester Around The World (Waltz) - Victor Sylvester Belle Of The Ball (Viennese Waltz) - Victor S
  7. Withdrawal symptoms Pete, that's why youve been ill. :yuck: Seriously though, well done for 2 weeks.
  8. Same as Matt. My books have 2 sections, first section by title, second section by artist. And I have a list by title with CD/track reference for me. Tracks are stored in an excel spreadsheet, duplicated over 3 sheets with the relevant columns for what I print out, so I can order them by whatever I'm going to print. Use word to print them out double sided with "dot leader" tabs to make them easier to read for the singers, and keep the printouts in clear plastic sleeves in loose leaf binders.
  9. What I want to know is: How does the weather know when and where I'm going on holiday, does somebody tell it. :wall: :wall:
  10. So are you all better now, and what was the problem (if it's not too personal ) Hope you get sorted soon. I was lucky that I had a good boss at my day job, and was getting full pay for nearly all the time I was off sick, so the gear was just parked up.
  11. Nowt wrong with Soundlab. I've still got a Soundlab twin CD deck, in perfect working order. Used to have 2 Soundlab Vistas and the only reason they went was because I wanted all 4 lights the same. Don't knock another guys gear just because of the name on it. Now then, back to what lighting does everyone use for first dances, and do I give up my swirling red hearts for the sake of losing 20+kg of weight to lug in and out of the venue.
  12. How have other "smoking" DJ's found it for their own fixes since the ban. I work single handed, so no roadie to watch the gear while I nip outside. I've found that if it's a good gig, and I'm really enjoying myself, then I don't miss my fix too much. The worst times are when it's a "dead" gig. Then I really miss it.
  13. Small wedding party on Saturday for me. Chinese girl married to an english lad a week ago in the lake district, having a post wedding party. Sunday, off to Tenby for a weeks holiday. I must be a rubbish DJ, never heard of Reeves and Mortimer - DIZZY!
  14. Looking like I shouldn't give up my red hearts then.
  15. What do you use for first dance lighting. I currently use slow, swirling, expanding and contracting red hearts. However, my Staireville Earthquakes, which I love, are damned heavy. Since the DJU Show North, I really fancy a set of the Prolight/Wildtech LittleLed lights. I was very impressed with them, and they are 4 channel DMX, so I'm assuming that I will be able to have slowly rotating patterns, and they only weigh 1kg each. Only problem is, I would lose the red hearts, which I think does have a wow factor for first dances. So I'm looking to see how many people use s
  16. Roy It's always the simple things in life that baffle me.
  17. On the old board, under my assistant, there was a "todays posts" shortcut/link. This new board doesn't have that and I don't know how to bring up todays posts. When I log on I normally click on "view new posts", but I sometimes have to leave quick (when the boss is approaching), and when I come back, the "view new posts" only shows me the posts since my last visit, which might only have been an hour ago, but I didn't manage to get through them all on my last visit. Can it be added to "My Assistant", or can someone cleverer than me (that's probably everyone), tell me how to do i
  18. I agree with that. I am against the current smoking ban BUT I agree there should be some form of smoking ban. I like to think of myself as a considerate smoker. ie: I don't (or didn't :wall: ) smoke in dining places, or confined spaces where there were non smokers, but some kind of ban was needed as there was always someone who would light up, regardless of where they were, or who was around them. An interesting side effect, nothing to do with DJ'ing. Our site had a designated smoking area, and a courtyard where you could sit and chill during your lunchbreak whil
  19. One of those tracks that I'd forgotten about, but will definitely be adding it to my memory jogger list next to High Ho Silver Lining
  20. Well done Steve  Hope you succeed where I keep failing.
  21. :bouncy: Just nice around the room, louder on the dancefloor, just the way I like it.
  22. A very enjoyable evening last night with ChrisP doing an 80th at Congleton Cricket Club. http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/21605262366.jpg Made a nice change to play some different music to the normal disco stuff. guess what we were playing here: http://img2.putfile.com/thumb/8/21605262456.jpg Really need to do something with my setup though to get it more compact. Last track finished at 11:45, and at 11:56, everything was packed away ready to load into the car.
  23. Just Saturday for me Working with our glorious leader ChrisP at Congleton Cricket Club, can't remember what kind of function he said it was, but I'm sure it will be enjoyable.
