  1. with reference to your amp operating cooler when loose or out of its case, you make a good point, because consideration has to be given to the insulating properties of the case its in. Even when an amp is fitted with a ventilation fan, heat is passed to the air around the amp casing, as long as the room is cooler than your amp that is! as far as the star cloth goes, air from the rear of the amp shouldnt be stopped by the cloth, however any reduction in air velocity will have varying degrees of effect on the amp temperature. another consideration when it comes to star cloths, but main
  2. Two amps in one case, you must be big lad! personally i struggle picking up one at a time. however i would add having two amps in the case, where one is stanby is a sign of a pro dj.
  3. Bonus, an amp for free and all you had to do is clean it, i bet your mate was not pleased!
  4. its the words that always send a chill down my back,"can my daughter(or similiar) sing on your mic? my simple answer is always NO. I then explain that my mic is a dj mic and only picks up spoken word and then i make something up about my sound system being geared up for djing rather than karoke. Why do i do this, let me explain. its not because i am a miserable sod, its because with experience it leads to a rash of karaoke fever that spreads accross the room like fire. before you know it dad wants to sing my way at the end of the night followed by 10 other blokes who are doing the
  5. with reference to the buy on fleabay, can add my expirence; i have a gator case, all the kit inside is new, however the case is not. i bought off ebay, and sure it was cheaper than new, but what was i thinking! The lids fall off because the locks are worn. i will be buying a replacement gator case, but his time new. after all, the kit inside is more expensive than the case by a factor of ten. to add, i would advise any dj to get a gator type case because they are lighter than the wooden cases by miles. And remember a djs' back is for life and not not just for christmas!
  6. hi, i aslo have a Numark mixer which appears to have eccessive hum(in my opinion). its a C3usb and its new. clearly its not enough to stop me from working, but i can hear it in my in my phones. its also worth mentioning that its dual voltage and arrived with one of those two pin american plugs complete with an adapter, however no earth pin, because its plastic. the americans dont like using earth, it interfers with there chairs!
  7. Hi guys there are are many reasons to flight case your amps, ie they look good and they dont die as easy in the back of van when driving like bodie and doyle. but, here is one one reason not to: overheating! the more experienced djs will already be aware of this problem, but if your new to the game here is few general tips, born out of experience; airflow- most amps will have an axial discharge air fan at the the rear of the amp in order to eject heat generated in the process of amplification. Basically the air enters the amp casing at the vent holes, pases the heat sink picking u
  8. Hi guys just a quick update with the denon success, i finally got traktor 3 and the dn 2500 doing its thing. asio and midi all working like they should, however i feel i have been robbed of numerous hours of my life that i wont get back, so i still feel happy saying that the cd is still viable for the dj because they are so easy to use. So what ever the reason for going back to cd you are not on are own! finally, in defence of the mp3, when it comes to space, mp3 is the best, however, if you combine the easy to use cd with the mp3 in a cd mp3 player, i feel you can come close to ma
  9. hi all i have one of those denon mp3 players that has the option of acting as a midi and asio soundcard device. however, i find the techy side a little too much to handle and its hardly used due to being not set up. i feel i want my cd players back in the case because they are far easier to understand. i do use two laptops which i use as deck one deck two via windows media player, but i miss having the play pause and pitch controls of a cd player. am i on my own with this or are there people from the pre mp3 world going back to the compact disc because its simple to use?
