While i know iTunes isnt everyones cup of tea, i find it very handy in creating quick play lists and ripping my cd collection, ive used it for years and not had an issue with it.. based on i always set the ripper to 320k mp3 and not used the standard apple settings... ok... after speaking with my office staff what they normally do for helpers and those 'non paid' who are regularly at the school is apply for their enhanced crb and pay the £36 as they are volunteers at the school - good will... however, this doesnt extend to contractors.... As a school governor the only advice id give would be to any dj / contractor... As soon as you get a booking that required a crb check firstly speak to the school office, administrator for the establishment or local education authority to get the application underway - as you know this can take some time! Dukesy, self employed or not the school will need to obtain a crb for you to ensure your safe - its their responsibility and it doesnt cost them to do this. Should have never been a problem if the school or establishment you were working for applied for the crb for you... which is what they should have done anyway! Just because you had been checked by school 'x' doesnt mean school 'y' could employ your services, as each school should ensure your safe to employ... having said all of that, lets hope the new rules do come into play as it makes much more sense and a lot less administration for the crb dept!

Any site generator should be sized to provide the correct voltage/current and calculations made before you plu in... Plus always use an appropriate distribution board + earth rod... if i know im playing outside i'll always bring my own board and rod as you can never be too sure how regulated the genny is let alone if it has the earth rod rammed in to the ground!

This bit of kit seems to be aimed at the wannabe nightclub dj / bedroom mixer.. hence the one input and lack of features on the mic front. Obviously where ever you go with this DDJ-T1 you will need a pc/mac wired up so you can run dj software. The outputs are good giving you a set of balance and unbalanced sockets - i'd assume the aux in would be used for those ipod dj's or other music sources (but not a record deck). most djs that use this kit hardly speak on the mic and if they did it would be using the club mic plugged into the house mixer i'd assume?!?! Without sounding too harsh... why would any DJ worth their weight need such agencies to gatgher work for them??? Your repeat bookings, referrals, free adds, coupled with a website and a few web links should be doing the work for you... for those starting out, do the foot work it pays off... and you dont have some agency sucking up a few quid out of your night! Ive never used em and never will... as metioned above the personal touch works for me!

just been running kjams seems quite good... may take the plunge with that, while still in development lots of useful features including the iphone app that allows ppl to request their songs! so the pub im working at have asked me to do karaoke one night a month... not a problem coz i have lots of media from years back. only thing is i'd much rather play out of my mac than use the old jvc player... any ideas what would be a good software package to use and if i can use my existing cd's or rip the discs to the mac into mp3+g??? i use the mac in my studio so i can run mic's and stuff via my sound card and process vocals on the fly, reverb etc... if push comes to shove + mix the audio.. with a bunch of lcd's connected to the mini display port for remote screens... any h

with my sennheiser hd 25's i can get all the way up to 18k then from there on i can only feel it in my ears... like an inner pressure in my ears... weird! But my cheap sony in ear buds wont play over 12k... tests like this are rather random and shouldnt be used as a gauge in your hearing coz thats what your doctor or hearing specialist is for and has the right kit for the job! here's another link that seems a little more calibrated with their source test sounds, not so sure mp3 is a good basis... apart from that you still need a decent sound card, headphones, and correct db setting

8-10 weeks delivery for a chassis... direct from china via prolight ive also called a handful of DJ shops / dealers who only seem to have brand new stock... as ive been asking for ex demo / hire units... didnt really want to pay 295 for a brand new speaker when i only want a chassis! oh well the repaired chassis seems to be holding up, although im not sure it will last for long.. i used polyester bumper repair kit with some bath sealant between the join... so fingers crossed! note to self... always ask about repairs when purchasing cheap speakers!

ld systems are german (speakers from Eminence USA or with their own chassis and tweeter drivers).... and are quite good for the money... a mates band use them and recently they are moving over to the active range... however, being passive will depend on what you intend to drive them with... the band have been using them with crown stuff (not cheap), but sounds very nice!

Looks like i need a new chassis / enclosure for my speaker.. the roadie dropped it last night and has broken the lower fixings that keep the front / back part of the enclosure together! Not very strong these moulded speakers as it wasnt a full on drop from height... was only about a foot of the ground... Lucky this is only my back up kit, however i use this more than i use my KX stuff for my residency at the local pub... any ideas where i can get a complete new chassis / enclosure from between now and new year - the pro light office doesnt reopen till jan 4th so am scuppered direct f

Welcome to the forum! sounds like your speakers may be on their way out... mic vocals typically put fewer demands on the speakers, while full range audio played at loud levels will be very demanding on the drivers! you may also find that the speakers will be ok for the first hour of use at a gig, then the crackling beings as the voice coils in the speakers warm up... voice coils with severe damage crackling will be apparent from the beginning of the night. Asking for extras on the night will only put a bad vibe on the night... and your hardly gonna get a recommendation with these antics! i always go an check the venue before the night (if ive never worked there before) just to ensure everything will be ok, and do a quick risk assessment of the place... and this will normally take place before i agree a price... if i need a roadie, extra kit etc..etc.. it all gets fac

As are the KX Audio KX1.5 / KX12 combo... always gets very good feedback from wherever i play! Nice an light too ;) well my wallet is after i'd paid for them lol - well worth the cash tho!

there is no way i would be navigating a set of stairs on my own with any dj equipment and as such will take a roadie with me... this will be factored into my cost! health & safety first!
