  5. Start by getting your school to pay you to do a social for them. (uses the money to rent the gear). Much as its very hard to start in a nightclub at the age of 16, don't give up hope. I started working in a nightclub at the age of 17, but I was a lighting tech. Even tho I wanted to be a dj, it was a step in the right direction and I was able to learn of the djs that worked there. Now I have my own concert system and work as a dj in a nightclub at the age of 19 and I'm not from a rich family, just work hard for what I want. So I would look at getting work in a club, aka glassie, bar tende
  6. Can I say a big thing everyone over looks is 'o-zone gas'. Strobe lights produce a toxic gas if run for a long period of time, more noticable in smaller venues. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif
  7. been no.1 is oz 4 a while
  8. Watch Australia fluke its way to the top !!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/fish.gif
  9. One of my cdjs (1000mk2) stopped spinning cds oneday, it was about 3mths old. Had it looked at and a piece of dust had gotten into a micro-swtich, which caused the problem..... There a highly tuned piece of kit, but its scary to know a piece of dust can bring them down....
  10. Yeah its the same guys that were behind Turbosound, before it was sold. There pricey but the quality is un-matchable. But much as you and I would notice the quality differnce, would the average punter? and would they pay the extra money. I have a Martin Audio Wavefront Sys and much as it is very nice sounding and very powerful not every person is willing to pay the money to rent it.
  11. 18inchs can handle more power, but heres a tip for a sub of any size, sit them aganist a wall. Subs shoot just as much force out the back of the bin as the front. Sitting them aganist a wall will allow that lost force to be revrbarted back at the audiance. Hope that makes sense...... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/tongue.gif
  12. mmm a big sound system.... i would def look at systems with atlest 4x18inch Bass drivers... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/biggrin.gif
  13. FUNKTION ONE!!!!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif What model have you got and are you rich? lol
  14. If it hasn't been number 1 over where you are yet, it will be! Then they will more than likely release there next single 'Way to Go', then my personal favourite and if you can jump to this one straight away 'Watching you'.
  15. Well I was lucky enough to buy the lights and sound gear out of the club I worked at when it closed. SO my sound system is..... Martin Audio (Wavefront Series) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/rolleyes.gif I have: 2 x W1 2 x W3 (Bi-amped) 2 x WS2A 4x QSC Amps Very lightweight speaker system..... I run it @ 3.6Kw, but I can run it up to 4.6Kw http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif
  16. CDJ800 are toys compared to the 1000's...... Denons are great decks, but the demo I went and saw, the guy took 5mins to get to features, etc.... tooo many buttons.... What ever way you jump, go for what you like, not what your mate said, cause the end of the day you have to understand it and mix on it.....
  17. Skytec, I would look at, manly cause of the slot in cd drive. Stanton have an ok name, but you have to ask yourself, if theses are the same price as the 'basic' product of another company, why is that? and its probly not Product name...... Personally I started with the cheap stuff and had one go on the CDJ1000's and decided to save up (dream setup, etc.....) Finally got there this year and I would surgest to look at a basic twin deck, that will work for thousands of gigs and take drink spills, knocks etc and save up and get something more top of the line if your after features....
  18. Have a look at 'Freestyler' software, it has alot of dongles it suports. Not sure bout this one, but have a look, you never know.
