  2. Hey, Well after many years of happy djing the time has come for me to "Hang up my headphones". With a bit of sadness I have decided to sell my kit. 3. Hi, Is there any one in the Stoke on Trent area who would happen to have about 4m of trilite or similar including stands for me to borrow/ hire for a friday night in May. I know its a bit early but just wondering? Thanks, Daniel
  4. Hi, Yes, I would have opened the buffet, let the guests eat and then done the wedding speeches. I feel my music choice was well balanced, I tried to change genre every five or so songs so different sets of people come onto the stage. Technically I could have hired in some wash fixtures and a dry ice machine at an extra cost to the customer to make t a bit more magical, I may offer that as an extra for other weddings. Thanks, Daniel
  5. Hi, Cheers everyone, thanks again for the help, I now have to put all my kit away, yay? Thanks, Daniel
  6. Hi, Just got back from the gig, it was great. I found it to be almost identical to your average family gig only with the speeches and 1st dance before hand. All went to schedule really and it seemed to work quite well. For music I played modern, layed back rock and stuff for background music, I introduced best man and groom for speeches then a bit of modern pop/ dance for about 20 mins. Buffet music went back to more modern rock and pop. I introduced the Bride and Groom for the 1st dance which was Westlife - You raise me up. DMX controller let me project rotating hearts around the
  7. Hi, Thanks for the advice, it has helped me a lot, it seems that everyone does it their own way. I have a running order planned yet will play it by ear as well. Thanks, Daniel
  8. Hi, To save everyone the pain of seeing Richard in various types of underwear there is already a video on the net. http://stagecraft.theprices.net/gallery/ca...blewrap-rm.html I don't agree this method is correcg because it doesn't actually coil the cable like a slinky. I just coil it one way, away or towards me and the cable natually twists into place. Thanks, Daniel
  9. Hello everyone, Tomorrow night is my first wedding and I was just wondering if anyone had any tips/ tricks. The running order is as follows. 7:30 Start - Play backgroup music (layed back chart music). 8:00 Turn the volume up a bit (client requested this), she wants a bot of dancy music early on which in my experience never works well, again here I will play modern music, saving the proper disco music for later. 8:30 I call up the best man and groom (advice on best way to do this), they do their speaches. 8:45 I annouce buffet and later announce cake cutting. 9:30 I call up
  10. Hi, 1) Get the Phone call, if email I generally ask the client to phone me 2) Put information into the database whilst on phone (tell client I will be sennding them the documentation and will require a deposit to confirm) 3) Print off mail merged confirmation letter, 2x copies of contract and a copy of the booking form. 4) Put an envolope in printer to print clients address on and also do a prepaid envolope for them to return contract etc. 5) Post paper work 6) Signed contract comes back to me complete with small deposit. 7) Call client few days before event to confirm everything 8)
  11. Hi, With regards to paper work I think the best thing to do is make an Microsoft Access database where you can whack in all the information. You can then mail merge this information (name, address, time, location, venue, date etc) into the confirmation letter and do the same with envolopes if you want. Each client gets 2 copies of the contract, 2 booking forms (as in pic), 1 confirmation letter and a stamped addressed envelope to send back a compay of the booking form with any ammendments and a copy of the signed contracts. Database Picture Database picture 2 Saves me loads of
  12. Hi, If you know what your doing you could take the transformers out? I know someone who did that with a load of acme winner scanners a while back and I bet plenty of others on here will know too. Looks great by the way! Thanks, Daniel
  13. Hi, That would look ace with a decent 250w MSD colour changer in it. DMX them and youve got one ace effect. Good for weddings definately. Thanks, Daniel
  14. Hi, I would set up and start up, put some general music on as normally people wont dance until after the buffet so i'd say you have about 2 hours to go home and get the cds you need. Thanks, Daniel

  17. Hi, If you dont already know I have a pair of skytec 300w passive cabs atm with 15" bass drivers and peizo horns. Now I recently blew a horn in one of the cabs so refitted it with one I found in the garage (as you do) and it sounds much less harsh than the original horn. Anyway what im asking is it possible for me to upgrade the horns to something a bit nicer sounding instead of upgrading the whole cab because i feel the bass drivers are ok sounding but the tweeters are definately too harsh. Thanks, Daniel
  18. I can assure you that the lx tape will eventually peel away and melt. Get some proper par cans your cheap skate! Thanks, Daniel

  21. Hi, Ive just been pondering over the dreaded three letter word of tax. I am wondering what I need to do to stay on the right side of the law when it comes to tax. I have done a quick forum search and found one post and crispy said something like you need to earn £4700 a year before you become eligable to pay tax. Is this true? Is there anything extra I should do because I am earning waaay under this ammount per year. Do all my earnings collectivly group up over the years until i reach the threshold then I need to start paying tax? Sorry for all the questions but its a bit confus
  22. QUOTE Just a personal preference, but I think it would look nicer with 2 matching lightscreens Or no lightcsreens at all lol, I'll get my coat. Thanks, Daniel
