  1. Ok, so hard drives fail, but don't you remember when one of your CD's did the same or (for us oldies) one of your record decs?. Yes, the simple answer is always carry a back up and keep another copy at home, I have set my pc up with XP on C, all music on d, if the hard drive fails then i open up my PC, disconnect the existing hard drive and insert via a caddy an exact copy of above and away I go. having tried a number of the subscriber discs, pro disc, hot tracks, etc, the mastermix one: Pro Disc is the best, £15 a month for new and breaking radio versions (not some weird remix) is £15 w
  2. Must admit that what has been said above is true, I am a confirmed PCDJ user and find it great, have been playing around with PCDJ FX and find that you need the mama of all PC's (power and memory wise) to make it run correctly. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/533.gif The display on a 15 or 17 inch monitor looks crowded and it is difficult to read, also a lot of the playing about has to be done by a mouse, and if you've read prev posts from me on PCDJ I love the idea of all the important controls being operated by the keyboard. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sleep1.gif
  3. QUOTE (The Spindoctor @ Dec 8 2003, 02:22 AM) Or................. Get the biggest to suit your budget followed shortly by an external large hard drive! Then if you do change laptop etc it does'nt matter also you can carry it and use it on both your desktop and laptop to update tracks etc Spin good call!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif Always carry a spare back up drive so if your pc goes T:cense:s up, you can refire the pc from the spare hard drive. Also only use your laptop/Pc for the music programme only (no games/internet etc) as loads of progs cause cr
  4. ohh Spin am I looking forward to you and I sharing "problem venues" "sound limiters" etc in the area we do up and along the A13 Here's one to start with, have you ever worked at the Homestead Hall in Stanford le Hope, where if any of the doors are opened the power shuts off?
  5. 2 choices for awful Xmas records winner must be "at this time of Year by Craig Phillips http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif (1st big brother winner hope I got his name right) Also our local breakfast jock (Martin Day on Essex FM) plays Grandma got run over by a reindeer, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/221.gif I think it by Bob & Elmo (but don't quote me on that) Best Christmas track, joint winners between "Every day, Every Year, Every Christmas" by Luther Vandross and nearly anything off the Phil Spector Christmas Album only just over a month to go the
  6. QUOTE (Tom @ Nov 9 2003, 08:58 PM) I fine there is little pont in bothering when you have a hall full of kidies who just want to hear the cheeky girls http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif (sends me mad). But the truly most advantagus advantage of computers is just how easy it is to find a song, simple as that. I used to spend ages cataloging my cd's tracks to sheets of a4, now all I need is the song/artist/year/gener/mums middle name to find a song Good post and hit the nail on the head! how many CD jocks spend their night with their back to their audience, thinking "now w
  7. thanks Spin, one more question, how do you load/start tracks off, keyboard or "click of the mouse"?
  8. Last slowie is the live version of Luther's Always and Forever (off the CD single), then out with the theme song which I regret to inform you is Tony Blacburns old one with Arnold the dog!!! (sad isn't it!!) Another good slowie is Babs and Bryan Adams I finally found someone, and if I don't thing Tony and Arnold will go down well then its Jamacian Girl by Love Unlimited Orch
  9. almost forgot, can't find a autoplay on the atoplaymp3 thingy, unless I've missed it this is yet another advantage that PCDJ brings... Must say Mixmeister is good, but is fiddly loading tracks in (you have to drag and drop) where PCDJ is just a few clicks on the keyboard. doesn't The Spindoctor use Mixmeister? what's he think of it? over to you fellow Essex jock!!!
  10. Sorry, I've checked out AtomixMP3 and though very clever in it's way it beatmixes, it still doesn't come near PCDJ. One of the great advantages of PCDJ is that there is a "shortcut key" on your keyboard for every function you would need on the road (loading into port/start/stop/speeding up etc. so when you are using it out on the road, there is no dragging around a mouse, just a few simple presses of the keyboard and away you go with Kylie (or whoever). It is so easy to use, you put your different types of music in a main file (say 2000's) and the sub category's (2000, 2001,2002, 2003) w
  11. I've changed the link to this. Ignoring the comment above, let me know what you think.
  12. try a google search for spybot, I use this AND ad-aware together, so what one does not get the other does
  13. Fot those who wish to take their PCDJ out on the road without a DAC 1/2 controller, I might be able to help. A friend of mine has worked out all the shortcuts you would want to use in a night and made up stickers for them! with a bit of practise you will never need to use a mouse whilst on the road again (except for starting up PCDJ). Go to www.seedsdisco.co.uk, this will take you to my website, click on the musical symbol to be taken to a page which has a picture of our home made stickers on a keyboard (Picture has not been compressed so takes a while to load if on a non broadband conne
  14. QUOTE (martink @ Sep 4 2003, 01:27 PM) Big fan of the Hed Kandi stuff in general. Now most of my music purchases are focused on my "mobile" collection, I use the Hed Kandis to get my fix of soulful house & garage. The post on Hed Kandi, reminds me that Saturday night radio in the South East is awful except for Jazz FM, on the way to gigs try Tony Blackburn's real Party Music (yess that Tony Blackburn from Clasic Gold!!) where he gets out some of those classics he used to play on BBC Radio London back in the 80's and on the way home try Hed Kandi show (from 1:00am) on the one and only Ja
  15. too true Spin, Rosko is a legend, I always play the "A" side. Moving on back to the thread...... try Uptown Festival (full version) Shalamar, (loads of Motown covers all in 9 minutes) sensationial as Tony Blackburn (another legend) would say..
