  1. Hey all, I just bought a pair of Samson dB500A 500W speakers. They will mainly be used for weddings or small bar gigs. I know 500W will be plenty of power but I was curious if anyone has or has used these speakers in the past? Thanks for any input. DJFrenchi
  2. Welcome! I am very new to the site as well. I basically do the same type of gigs you seem to work (i.e. parties/weddings/etc.) I love music and have tons from all eras. Doing weddings you'll find you will have to have 50's through 90's.............and even the newest stuff. There is always something good from each era that will make someone happy. There are tons of great dance tunes that you can mix it up. I defintely try and go for a few songs at a time from each era. If you see that you are packing the floor then go for a couple more. I also find that if you do clear the f
  3. Thanks for the responses............ I would mainly be playing weddings or other events. So I guess an average wedding would be around 150 people. I also DJ at a bar (rather small) where crowds are usually less than 100. I just received my Fusion 222 - it's really nice. I did have a difficult time with the beat/tempo matching. Guess it will just take some practice. Look forward to hearing back........ Andre
  4. Thanks for the response......... My DJ gigs consist of a small bar atmospheres and wedding/picnic/benefits type of events...... So basically the max amount of people would be around 250 heads. Would play in standard places like hotels, VFW's, town halls, etc. My music selection consists of country, R&B, pop, 70's, 80's, alternative, modern rock, etc. I keep my music up-to-date with the charts.......... I don't play techno or house music (or at least I haven't yet....)
  5. Are most people on the site from the UK?
  6. Just purchased system as my start-up...................did I make a wise choice? Any opinions on an amp or speakers to go with it? Any insight would be appreciated. Andre
  7. Hello all, My name is Andre and I'm from upstate New York (Corning). I ran across this website through a Yahoo search and thought I would try it out. I am an accountant by day and do a little DJing on the side at a friend's bar and for weddings. All I have used to DJ is an 800-watt PA system as my mixer and amplifier and two portable CD players you can get at any store. It is really a pain in the ass to fade in and out, etc. Just last night I bought (should be here tomorrow or Thursday) a Numark Fusion 222 system. It comes with 2 Axis-2 CD players and a mixer. Instead of buying e
