  1. anyway no matter how you speak, as a dj please spend a little time to set your levels so the customer can understand you. how many time have you heard somebody on a mic that sounds like a bass bin feeding back on itself. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sterb188.gif
  2. we all know its illegal to download music without paying royalities. however, if you are out working in a venue that is covered by prs, aren't the artists being paid for there music that is used? regardless of the origin of the cd used? after all we the dj are not selling copies of that music, we should be paid for advertising these songs. answers on a postcard........... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/533.gif

    Wedding

QUOTE (The Spindoctor @ Apr 25 2003, 07:11 PM) If its a wedding you can guarantee that for the first three hours they won't even notice if you play 'Nelly the Elephant' as long as your last half hour is rocking everybody will say they had a blinding night. this is so true. having spent 3 hours flogging your guts out to get them dancing and for then to sit and look at you. Play 5 good songs and they are fighting each other to thank you for a great night. sometimes you just can't work punters out lol but thats why we do it, the best job in the world
  4. the hotel were i do a lot of business expects me to do there 2 wedding fairs a year for free. and guess what i do. only because the amount of work i get from the is good but any bookings i get on the day are direct to me so i can normally get my rate and not the hotels imposed fee. so for me 8 hours a year is worth it. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif
  5. now matter had tacky you think Blackpool is, and it is, i really missed it when i was in London for 3 years. funny thing is i do most of my buisness in East Lancashire the monies better. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
  6. has anyone ever been prosecuted for using downloaded music? the thing is doesn't every cd you buy from woolworths, hmv etc say not for commercial use, so could we all not be prosecuted anyway? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/nono.gif
  7. i personally would like to see and hear a dj work a crowd. i was in the local walkabout bar for about 3 hours with some work friends (it was cheap drinks night) and the dj's choice of music was spot on, however the only thing he said was " bogof on reefs for the next 15 minutes". the place had no atmosphere. A dj is an entertainer so entertain. and finally about accents, its not just accents its attitudes as well. for example up here in the north people talk to each other on the bus however, after living for 3 years in London if you talk to someone on the tube your an axe murder......
