Is anyone out there using the same combination as me: A 00VJ, with the Denon DN-MC6000 and Virtual DJ? I'm having a slight problem with the mapping for the headphones so interested to hear whether from with the same setup on which settings they're using.

Flightcase containing Denon DNHC-4500 controller, Denon X900 mixer, American DJ SDJ1 and a custom made patch panel. Also in a separate case are the CD drawers for the 4500 (the DN-D4500). The flightcase was custom made for me by Savill cases and is very lightweight. All are in immaculate condition, although the right deck of ther SDJ1 has a slightly faulty pitch control. I did the wedding of a guy that ran a DJ agency and so there were a few of his DJs there. Additionally at the time I'd only been doing gigs for this guy for a few months whereas some of the guys on his books had been with him a lot longer and were a little miffed that i was asked and not them The gig went well and I had the expected inspection of my equipment by the DJs that were there, but it didn't bother me in the slightest, cos I had a full dancefloor all night so what could they say Am actually doing another wedding for a DJ I've known for a while later this year.

It is an extremely worthwhile investment from a few angles. Upmarket venues love it and the banquet managers will often comment positively on it. It hides all the cables, flightcases, suitbag etc. It looks very professional. Is built very well and lasts a long time if looked after. The weight of the frame can be viewed in different ways; on the one hand it would be nice to have something lighter from a carrying point of view, but on the other hand the weight makes it very robust so that even if someone falls into it it doesn't buckle or fall into your gear. The price is OTT

For the last few years I've taken an old laptop with me to gigs to use for ripping CDs to an mp3 file, but the lappie I've been using has kicked the bucket! Apart from ripping the odd track at a gig every couple of months or so the lappie was never used for anything else so was a bit of a waste and rather than buy another laptop just to use for ripping I wondered whether anyone knows of any type of CD walkman type gizmo that can also rip tracks to an MP3 file and that can then be stored/copied onto a pen drive? Many thanks for any help offered...

Just realised that not all the vinyl is on this list. For example it only mentions a few of the DMC stuff, but there is actually virtually every release on DMC between 85 and 92.

That reminds me; there is also loads of house; especially early house and chicago house.

Bri', for years i always said (even up until 2 days ago!) that i would NEVER sell my vinyl, then earlier i actually gave it some thought... when was the last time i actually played ANY of my vinyl? bleedin years ago, all the stuff i couldn't buy on cd I've transferred to CD; so there doesn't seem any point in keeping it, all it's doing is taking up huge amounts of space, plus I'll be moving soon and it'd mean having to pay a monthly fee to put them all in storage (because there wouldn't be enough room in the new place). this seems ridiculous for something I NEVER use?! Nope, it's ALL going.

I'm thinking of selling my record collection which consists of thousands of vinyl including some rare stuff, covering a huge amount of music genres (not gonna be selling the CDs though). Can anyone give pointers on good places to sell this. The majority is probably soul/funk/rare-groove from the 70's & 80's-maybe 10,000 or so albums, 12"s & 7"'s. Plus a few thousand reggae albums, 12s & 7s including ska, studio 1, lovers rock, dancehall etc. and at least 5,000 general pop including motown, rock n roll, 60's, rock, punk, new wave, 2-tone, 70's, 80's, easy listening, 90's

Nothing to add! cos i get the feeling that they'll probably just want pop reggae most of which has already been covered here. if they wanted genuine reggae (i.e. 99.9% of which NEVER charts) they would have likely booked a genuine reggae DJ or reggae sound system! People who are REALLY into reggae wouldn't leave it to chance that a mobile Disco is gonna know what they want!

I've played there couple of times, the most recent being a few months ago and I never had any parking problems. Because Kenwood House is open to the public until around 4 or 5 (I can't remember which), you can't enter until after that time. You then can drive in and unload your gear, but you have to leave your vehicle out on the main road, but there are usually loads of parking spaces and it's very safe around there.

I agree with many points Dan has raised here. At least the NADJ are attempting to improve the image of the DJ as well as educate etc, whereas anyone on here that seriously thinks the MU give a stuff about DJs is pretty deluded! Plus if you're earning over £15,000 from DJ'ing the MU policy is double the fee. ;thumbdown:

The Acme Falcon has that type of effect. I wasn't overly impressed with the reliability of the EVL Spins. I now never use mine cos they seem to break down so often. Have you considered the i-Solutions range? The i-Show 4's are a nice effect.
