  3. Flightcase containing Denon DNHC-4500 controller, Denon X900 mixer, American DJ SDJ1 and a custom made patch panel. Also in a separate case are the CD drawers for the 4500 (the DN-D4500). The flightcase was custom made for me by Savill cases and is very lightweight.

All are in immaculate condition, although the right deck of ther SDJ1 has a slightly faulty pitch control.

The Patch panel has a PowerCon connection which powers up all 3 units. It has 3 x 5pin XLR sockets which are each connected to 2 phono inputs (see attached pics) so for example on input 007 this one input will connect to CD players. The idea behind the patch panel was to condense all of the input and outputs onto one 1U panel. The way this was done was to bring out pairs of Aux's on a 5-pin XLR connector, pins 1+2 are AUX A, pin 3 common ground and pins 4+5 AUX B. The lead shown in the picture is 4-core screened cable with a 5 pin XLR male at each end and then a female 5 pin XLR 'tail' split to the 4 phonos (for the two AUX channels). The idea here is that you can make up various tails to suit the remote dual CD player or multichannel sound card and then use a single common lead to interconnect the equipment.

The first input that is labelled Prizm actually is the connection for the Denon DN-D4500 CD drawers.

The Patch Panel and Custom flightcase both cost over £200, the SDJ1 is over £100, the X900 & HDC4500 both £500+ and DN-D4500 £300+ which equals in excess of £1,800.

    Looking for £900

Much prefer to sell all units with the flightcase rather than selling units individually.

All items can be viewed/tried in Harrow/NW London.

The photo uploader isn't working so here's a link to see photo's of the items

  4. Catraxx is the one that I have just purchased.

I used music collector for 7 years but the last couple of revisions have made it harder to use with quite a few listing problems which have to be amended manually.

I'm still using CATraxx and have been for many years now, but am looking for a programme that will catalogue video files as well as audio files but not found anything yet?

  5. I have a gig coming up at Ealing Town Hall in west London and have been informed they have a sound limiter and wondered whether anyone on here has performed there recently and whether it set correctly or if it's the type that goes off when you whisper!

  6. I did the wedding of a guy that ran a DJ agency and so there were a few of his DJs there. Additionally at the time I'd only been doing gigs for this guy for a few months whereas some of the guys on his books had been with him a lot longer and were a little miffed that i was asked and not them :D

The gig went well and I had the expected inspection of my equipment by the DJs that were there, but it didn't bother me in the slightest, cos I had a full dancefloor all night so what could they say

Am actually doing another wedding for a DJ I've known for a while later this year.

  7. OK, have bitten the bullet on this vinyl I've been talking about selling for some time and have put the lot on eBay so they're gonna go one way or another!

This sale has now been divided into 5 groups of records for sale with lists 3 & 5 probably being of most interest to DJs.

If you would like an excel file of any of the lists above (which will allow you to change the sort orders and thus find things far easier), please contact me by PM and I will send you the file by email.

  8. It is an extremely worthwhile investment from a few angles.

Upmarket venues love it and the banquet managers will often comment positively on it.

It hides all the cables, flightcases, suitbag etc.

    It looks very professional.

Is built very well and lasts a long time if looked after.

The weight of the frame can be viewed in different ways; on the one hand it would be nice to have something lighter from a carrying point of view, but on the other hand the weight makes it very robust so that even if someone falls into it it doesn't buckle or fall into your gear.

The price is OTT though but it's because they have a monopoly and no decent competition. The starcloth made by companies such as prolight can not seriously be compared. It is like comparing a Jaguar to a Nissan Micra!

It would be good if another company produced something of similar quality which would hopefully bring the price down.

  9. allo peeps, yep the Eskie is still alive n kickin

I'm moving house next week so am selling my vinyl. Comprises over 2.600 records-1,000 12"s, 1,000 LPs and about 600 7"s covering a wide range of music genres.

Ful list online at http://winyard.com/records.htm I also have the full list available as an excel file, just drop me a PM or email and I'll email you the file if you'd like to look through it.

Collection includes virtually ever DMC release between 1985 and 1990.

Have already sold a few thousand pieces which was mainly soul and reggae.

    See ya :djuhi:

  10. For the last few years I've taken an old laptop with me to gigs to use for ripping CDs to an mp3 file, but the lappie I've been using has kicked the bucket! Apart from ripping the odd track at a gig every couple of months or so the lappie was never used for anything else so was a bit of a waste and rather than buy another laptop just to use for ripping I wondered whether anyone knows of any type of CD walkman type gizmo that can also rip tracks to an MP3 file and that can then be stored/copied onto a pen drive?

Many thanks for any help offered...

  11. In case anyone is interested in any of the vinyl I have for sale you can view a list of them here:

    http://www.winyard.com/records.htm

About 250 were sold a few days ago which was mainly reggae and a few soul.

Just realised that not all the vinyl is on this list. For example it only mentions a few of the DMC stuff, but there is actually virtually every release on DMC between 85 and 92.

  12. STOP! Don't do it. I did this many years ago and regret every moment now.

You'll be telling us you're settling down and starting a family next!

Bri', for years i always said (even up until 2 days ago!) that i would NEVER sell my vinyl, then earlier i actually gave it some thought... when was the last time i actually played ANY of my vinyl? bleedin years ago, all the stuff i couldn't buy on cd I've transferred to CD; so there doesn't seem any point in keeping it, all it's doing is taking up huge amounts of space, plus I'll be moving soon and it'd mean having to pay a monthly fee to put them all in storage (because there wouldn't be enough room in the new place). this seems ridiculous for something I NEVER use?!

Nope, it's ALL going. The dosh will come in handy anyway

  13. I'm thinking of selling my record collection which consists of thousands of vinyl including some rare stuff, covering a huge amount of music genres (not gonna be selling the CDs though).

Can anyone give pointers on good places to sell this.

    The majority is probably soul/funk/rare-groove from the 70's & 80's-maybe 10,000 or so albums, 12"s & 7"'s.

Plus a few thousand reggae albums, 12s & 7s including ska, studio 1, lovers rock, dancehall etc.

and at least 5,000 general pop including motown, rock n roll, 60's, rock, punk, new wave, 2-tone, 70's, 80's, easy listening, 90's etc plus some world music.

Not sure of the actual amount of pieces of vinyl, although would be easy to find out as virtually all of them are catalogued using CATraxx.

The collection also includes every Streetsounds release including most of the electro albums. The Streetsounds box sets-Philadelphia Story & Dance Decade.

Includes almost every release on DMC between 84 & 92 and many on Mastermix.

Very unlikely I'm gonna find one buyer for all of it so will likely split into many small lots, interested in idea's on where would be the best places to sell it?

  14. Nothing to add!

cos i get the feeling that they'll probably just want pop reggae most of which has already been covered here. if they wanted genuine reggae (i.e. 99.9% of which NEVER charts) they would have likely booked a genuine reggae DJ or reggae sound system! People who are REALLY into reggae wouldn't leave it to chance that a mobile Disco is gonna know what they want!

  15. Robbie, if they want the genuine cockney article and not some jive bunny tosh :poo: then ave a butchers for Harry Champion, Stanley Holloway, Sweet Georgia Brown, Billy Jones and Monica Rose for starters.

    Tracks such as:

Wotchya, knocked em down the ol Kent rd

    Boiled beef and carrots

    Yes we have no bananas

    Any old iron

Don't dilly dally on the way

I was 'oldin me coconuts in me 'and!

Even tracks such as Hello Dolly, We'll meet again, Won't you come home Bill Bailey, Long way to Tipperary (and other favourites from WWII!)

Bit of Lonnie Donegan & George Formby would probably go down well n all!

  16. Had an enquiry for this venue yesterday.

I believe there are problems with parking here.

Does anyone have experience of it?

I've played there couple of times, the most recent being a few months ago and I never had any parking problems.

Because Kenwood House is open to the public until around 4 or 5 (I can't remember which), you can't enter until after that time. You then can drive in and unload your gear, but you have to leave your vehicle out on the main road, but there are usually loads of parking spaces and it's very safe around there.

  17. I use the NADJ policy.. because i wanted to join them anyway, and got the membership and PLI offer they were doing.

I used to be in the MU, but didn't really feel "wanted" as a DJ, because they kept hammering on about keeping music live.

Plus, when they were asked to help us over the licensing mess they refused.. hmm, theres a good union, eh?

So, basically I could save money by using the MU, but choose not to on principle.

I agree with many points Dan has raised here. At least the NADJ are attempting to improve the image of the DJ as well as educate etc, whereas anyone on here that seriously thinks the MU give a stuff about DJs is pretty deluded!

Plus if you're earning over £15,000 from DJ'ing the MU policy is double the fee. ;thumbdown:

  18. Paul makes a very good point...one which I had forgotten. I used to use two SoundLAB's to project red hearts on the floor during the soppy moments. This is something I'd like to continue.

The Acme Falcon has that type of effect.

To the best of my knowledge, Martin don't offer anything like that so this may cross them off my list entirely. I am also quite happy that I don't want scanners, so the Acme's can be put to bed. Having already discounted NJD I'm now back to a blank sheet of paper.

I wasn't overly impressed with the reliability of the EVL Spins. I now never use mine cos they seem to break down so often.

Have you considered the i-Solutions range? The i-Show 4's are a nice effect.

  19. Which 'marketing talk' do you remember, adhere to, things like...

    What are yours ?

Always be wary of dodgy looking characters with the surname of Harris.

Don't tie your shoe laces when handy Andy is around

Don't despair, panic today and avoid the rush
