  2. I try to listen to as much different radio as I can. Radio 1, Radio 2, Kiss 100, Choice, XFM, Various ILR stations (Southern FM, Juice) around the country. Although my personal choice is talk radio – particularly LBC. When I discuss music with my customers a few weeks before each function, as well as asking them what songs, and types of music they like, I also ask them what is their favourite (music) radio station. I then try to listen to that station as much as I can in the week leading up to the function.
  3. Hi Pete, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/042.gif I know how you feel. Once you've got the bug for mobile DJing, it never goes away. I once gave up mobile work to concentrate on clubs, but the more time that went by, the more I missed mobile DJing. What are your plans with re-starting? Are you going to approach it in a different way second time around?
  4. Two pairs of Abstract Gladiators have formed the main basis of my light show for almost 3 years. (They are the yellow/green lights on static in my avatar pic left.) They look more impressive than a scanner, as they produce several beams at once, rather than the single beam of a scanner. They are also capable of very fast moving beams, producing a very "high energy" light show from the built in programs (which I leave them running on for any "night club" type parties - ie 18th/21st birthdays etc). http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif However if you want a more subtle effe

Don't feel that you have to talk just for the sake of it. But you could introduce yourself, ask for requ
  7. Hi Everyone, and thank you for your welcomes http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif QUOTE (C.S @ Mar 10 2004, 07:22 PM)I am sorry but i think you are pulling a fast one saying its sunny in Brighton but as i am in Norway i might have to take your word for it! Hi CS, I could have sworn that I saw a glimpse of the sun between the snow showers! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif QUOTE (mikeee @ Mar 11 2004, 01:25 AM)I like Brighton Marina, does that count????? Hi Mike, don’t tell me you can afford a boat! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif QUO
  8. I know what you mean Dale. It's a great track, but doesn't fit in with anything else, and almost impossible to mix in or out of. I normally leave it to the end of a set of recent tunes, then follow it with a wild party set of some kind. Try going into something like Toni Basil's "Mickey", or Madness/Dexy's Midnight Runners/Wham (Freedom) etc. Anything with a high "excitement level" that makes you think "OH YESS!!!" from the first second.
  9. Hi All :wavey: I originally started as a mobile, mainly playing Jazzfunk & Soul around the South (occasionally mentioned in Blues & Soul mag) before later taking on more mainstream gigs to actually pay for the specialist imports I used to buy. After a few years I got more and more in to club work, but recently decided to go back to mobiles. I was finding the club work stale, and missed the challenge and excitement of one off gigs. I rely on word of mouth recommendations and don’t advertise. I also tend to charge a reasonable fee (although also do a few freebies each year) and

I've been half thinking about of changing my existing stands for crank up stands. This would allow me to keep the T bars fully rigged to speed set up. - Although I can just about carry a fully rigged bar, there is no way I can lift it above my head! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1028.gif Can I ask their length when collapsed down? 11. QUOTE (joe @ Mar 8 2004, 11:20 PM)QUOTE (RobbieD @ Mar 8 2004, 12:05 PM) My avatar on the left is made up of 4 pictures taken resting the camera on a table. I guess each exposure was about a second. After each pic, I went up and turned an effect on, and another off. Unfortunately the avatar jumps a bit as I must have slightly moved the camera between each. Is there a special program you used to make your avatar? And if so what is it? It looks really good http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif Thank you Joe! I used a free 30 trial version of Zoner GIF Animator 5 from their web
  12. The key is a long exposure. Most reasonable cameras will do this in auto mode if the flash is turned off. But you need to keep the camera steady. Ideally on a tripod, but I tend to hold it down on a seat back or place on a table. Also avoid moving light beams, as they will just blur. Another secret is to take lots of pictures. Only about a third of mine come out any good. Oh, and if you’re using film, go for a high ASA. I typically use 800ASA or 1600ASA for disco light pics. The down side is they can be a bit grainy. My avatar on the left is made up of 4 pictures taken resting the
  13. Some great games Chris! I can vouch for the Quick Change game using the large see-through plastic bags. I used that one many times, and it has always got a massive laugh from the audience.
  14. I’ve had Bose 802’s for a decade and a half now. At the time I brought them they were very much the standard in smaller night clubs. They have a very smooth mid-range, and sound especially good on vocals. They are small and light and can, at a push be used as full range speakers in very small venues (up to 50 people). However they are very inefficient. Especially at the bass end. The controller boosts the bass and treble to give a flat response, but in doing so robs a lot of power. Although they quote efficiency as around 99dB/w/m, this is for 1KHz. Allowing for the bass boost required,
  15. Ahhh Memories! My first mobile system had Garrard decks. OK, I feel really old now.
