  1. Yep it was officially released in January, but didn't do very well in the charts for some reason. Strange, because it got lots of radio play, and was very popular - I even had a couple of requests for it in December - both at gigs within the M25. Maybe it was one of those tunes that never got picked up outside of London. But if it keeps being played in the clubs Booty Luv will probably release a cover of it eventually!
  2. If I lost a booking because I didn't have enough lights, I wouldn't be too bothered. I would like to think people book me for my musical selection skills. After that, sound quality is important. But lighting comes bottom of the list when it comes to creating a great party. If a potential customer thinks that lots of lighting is the most important, then they probably aren't a customer that I would want to work for. For me, it's all about the music - everything else is secondary. However if you still want to upgrade your light show, rather than adding yet another effect that might loo
  3. Hi Dale, I had the same issue. Silvio answered on the Denon forums here: http://www.denondjforums.com/index.php?nam...p;p=60117#60117
  4. Just to up date you all. It was a great night. Alex is still an excellent performer, giving it his all. Although he doesn't look very well. I had forgotten how good some of his songs are. An added bonus was that Gee Bello and Nat Augustin from Light Of The World were the support act (as well as part of Alex's backing band - some of the other members may also have been have been in Alex's band). They did a few covers (including Fatbacks "I Found Lovin'") as well as some of there own songs - including a new rather funky latiny house song and ending with "London Town". All in
  5. Hi Richard, Yes, we are. We have a table booked up stairs, but it would be great to meet up with you.
  6. Yes, it's great to be back!!! I missed you all!
  7. Yes the new Booty Luv track (remember the Boogie 2Nite cover?) is a cover of Luther Vandross's "Shine"! What is the world coming to? (And don't get me started about Wi Fi's cheap version of MJB's "Be Without You".) It seems that inspirationless dance acts have run out of 80's tracks to rip off, and are now just ripping off tracks from the past few months. Use some imagination guys! Is there a shortage of song writers or something? (However I don't mind MAW's "Work" coming back out - at least it's the original and I still love it.)
  8. Yep, it normally when down a storm, but I haven't played it for a year or two. Thanks for the reminder. I will dust it off and give it a play at the right event.
  9. I had a play with one at Guildford Sound & Light yesterday. It is fairly basic - no effects except loop and scratch - but has a nice large clear display, and seems to work very well. Certainly everything that I would need in a hard disc player (instant response, easy searching, clear, easy to use buttons). It has both a top USB (for a USB stick) as well as the rear one (for your external hard disc). It doesn't have digital output like the Denon. As I've yet to see the Denon in the flesh I can't compare it. (They also had the Cortex, but it wasn't connected up, so c
  10. I live in Brighton, but I'm working in London this Friday! Plus I can't stand Karaoke!
  11. :bouncy: Your the man Robbie..No point. I went out on the town the other week and only just heard it then. I thought it was a tune and managed to get it...Didn`t realise it was so old.. I don`t play these type of tunes at my gigs so I don`t get to find out what is what. I think I need to get out more. LOL. Hi Steve, I should say that I didn't mean, what's the point of your post - I would never be so rude tongue out icon I meant what is the point in recording an exact copy of a track that has already been out and in the charts. There would be a point if Mel B did it in her
  12. I agree Andy. These kind of Enhancers mix in extra high frequency harmonics generated from the main signal, which will make it sound less dull. But they won't be the same high frequencies discarded in the MP3 compression. I have worked in a couple of clubs that had Enhancers. I found that by disconnecting them the sound quality of the system improved noticeably.
  13. Yes this was out December 2005. I remember playing it at a few Christmas functions - some times the radio edit, and some times the Moto Blanco house mix. Always went down well. I had heard Kiss play what I assumed was an edit of Mary J's Moto Blanco mix a few times recently, until I found out that there is a new version by Wi Fi feat Melanie M. But what is the point? I realise that they did the same thing with Boogie 2Nite, but that was because the House mixes of the Tweet version never had an official release (although weren't hard to find on 12") and therefore it had never cha
  14. Here's the previous thread. I still think it's a scam to collect Email addresses. The site doesn't appear to be part of the Number 10 web site if you look at the urls. Also I don't believe that if a certain number of people sign, the government automatically won't introduce it. Also the figures don't add up. Don't get me wrong. I know that the government are working on such as scheme, and it will come one day whether we like it or not. But I think this petition site is a scam.
  15. Yep, that sums up most Maplin stores. You certainly wouldn't buy any disco equipment from them, but they are useful when you need connectors (XLR's, Speakons, etc) or electronic components in a hurry.
  16. Hi all, I heard a great documentary about Northern Soul on Radio 4 this morning. From the Radio 4 web site: Soul Self Satisfaction (30 min) Broadcast on Radio 4 - Tue 06 Feb - 11:30 The Story of Northern Soul: CP Lee explores the strange world of Northern Soul music. Contributors include Wayne Hemingway, Ian Levine, Jo Wallace and Stuart Cosgrove. It's avaliable as a "Listen Again": Click Here, then click the big yellow button. Enjoy!
  17. Actually mine are the Abstract Extreme series, but the controller does look like (and probably is) the old Mad controller. Typically the heads are around £200-250 each and the controller is £150-£200.
  18. Bridge mode is to increase power by using two channels of one amp to power a single speaker. If adding monitor speakers with an amp, the best way is to use the booth output on your mixer to feed the monitor amp - that's what it's there for. If your mixer doesn't have a booth output, you could use the record output, or daisy chain from your main amps line or 'link' outputs (these are loop the input signal back out to connect additional amps). If your main amp doesn't have any line level outputs, the last choice is to make up a Y lead to connect your one mixer output to the two am
  19. Not quality, but a balanced connection will pick up far less interference and noise. Again the connectors don't make any real difference to the sound quality. But Speakons are more reliable: For a start they lock, so can't be accidentally pulled out by a tug on the cable. They can also carry far more current than jack plugs. Jack sockets can also work loose over the years. Also as the plug is pushed in or pulled out it momentarily shorts the amp out - not good for cheaper amps!
  20. Excellent - the've got "Feel The Fire"! (Which which I see comes with a reasonably good "I Found Love" remix).
  21. I think Xpress Beats are DRM free as well, but they also only cover dance music, and even then each time I've searched for a house track they haven't had it (but these are tracks that I couldn't get on CD or from Beat Port). Now if any one knows of a legal site that cover mainstream music, doesn't have DRM, doesn't make you install special software on your machine, and has files at 320Kbs (or 192Kbs minimum) then I might start buying the occasional tune on line.
  22. Pity, but thanks for the reply anyway Gary. But who wants to buy music on line, then have to burn it to CD, then Rip it back to mp3 (loosing quality &/or increasing file size) just to play it. :lil devil: For me DRM is one of the major obstacles to buying music on line.
  23. A quick thought after reading Andy's download thread: Gary, Can the DN-HD2500 play all those files with DRM that people have purchased from the various download services?
  24. Andy, I feel your pain. I've used Woolworths for the same reason - they are one of the few services that don't make you install software on your PC. The only issue with them (and most other services) is that the files are DRM protected. So you can only burn the tracks to a CD a few times. I also found that if I transferred them to an external hard drive they wouldn't play anymore (which I guess would also cause issues with the new hard disc players like the Denon). Finally since getting a new PC, I can't play them or copy them to CD at all! i might as well delete them now! :lil devil
  25. I think Pareshj is referring to a proper ready made Power & Signal cable cable like this: http://www.terralec.co.uk/product_images/info/prd{CAECAAE6-30FB-4B09-8134-A745772FAECC}.jpg I can't see any problems with using such cable for DMX and mains, and am thinking of doing the same.
