  1. I am in the process of placing an order to get all necessary back up lamps for my lights. While trying to find out what UV tube I need, I got stuck. How do you measure it - I measured around 333mm end to end. Also, I know its 15w

  3. Ah, the joys of discos eh? Well, the events are coming in fast down here how. Got one come in 2 days ago wanting one in 2 weeksish! Lucky I was free. A bit more $$$ for the short notice!! ;-)
  4. Nah, it ain't DMX. Like Chris said, not many effect lights are. Grrrrr. This IS the Acme Fiesta. Need a solution though!
  5. You do need a licence even for charity. Good ole' PPL, the http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/censored2.gif
  6. Now this gobo is sorted (well, nearly), I've come across another problem. I need to change the gobos during events (ie/ I can use Happy Birthday and Congratulations at the same gig) but if I change them, all the other gobos (ie/ Halloween(!!)) will briefly be displayed when changing. I have a list of them all but need a way to change 'em! The best way I can think of is to block the gobos lens when changing but this looks unprofessional....
  7. Be sure to decorate with plastic (or real!) pumpkins with lots of streamers around as well. This looks good round the disco. Use strobe/smoke effects if all is cleared with the organiser. Dress up!! Play: The Who - Boris The Spider!
  8. Anyone ever done any discos in Warminster, Wiltshire (apart from me!!). Just wondering and interested.
  9. Chris, what is "The Dead Zone" all about??
  10. Yep, just realised that tonight!! Cheers all. I used it in my lounge and focused and realised that as it focused more, the blobs went away a bit. In a venue, they will be completely gone.
  11. Thankks Mikeeeeeeeeeee. I called the chap again today and he said that it was one of the first of a new batch which all have problems!! So, they are producing a new gobo filter and will send it to me ASAP. Sorted - I hope. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif (oh, and it was new) One other problem(!!!!!!!!) One - there appears to be dark areas on the gobo images - I've cleaned the lens but maybe it needs a better clean.
  12. I have recently bought an Acme Gobo (Fiesta MH-270F) and there is a problem with it. It is a special occasion gobo with messages on the gobo ie/ "Happy Birthday". The problem is that the "Happy Anniversairy" filter has a "Y" instead of a "V". Anyone else had any problems? When I called the chap I got it from he said that they have probably all bn printed like that. Why? What is the point. If I have to keep it, I either don't use that filter or try and fiddle to sort it out. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/ranting.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wallbash.gif
  13. OTronics = Oliver and Electronics. I've put a capital "T" to be unique!! (although I don't know why now b/c loads still use a small "t"). I've thought of putting it to a small "t" but then though ":cense: it" I did it because I don't just do discos. I was recently thinking of having OTronics Media Services: X Discos but can't think of what to call the disco side!! I'll come up with something. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif

  15. Welcome along! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif Many of us out there started out young - I think our forum Admin. chap Chris Pointon started in 1920 so that just goes to show! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/smile.gif I started at the end of 1999. You have a decent budget for equipment. The Numark CD Mix 1 is good because it is a mixer and CD player in one and has fader start (when you push the fader up, the CD start playing, very advantagous). The downside is that if one part goes wrong, you will have to get it repaired and will lose out on a CD player and

  17. What are the guidelines for this? What do you have to do to ensure your rig is "passed" for the HSE Act?
  18. Yep, I'll get em ASAP. I agree its not an excuse for checks (I do loads, probably too many!) and PAT (which I have) Cheers
  19. Nothing for me until next month as its a fairly small area here but I cover loads of it. Its the quiet time down here at the moment. Saying that, they have started to come in for Xmas etc now - 2 booked yesterday. Here we go again... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  20. I am going to get a couple of these as I currently don't use them. But what do they actually do to help keep the rig safer? I thought they tripped if you used too much power? Am I............correct?
