  1. cash waiting...preferably within striking distanceof Manchester/Bolton etc
  2. Dropped one of my Mackies last week, and have damaged coil. They are the Italian ones. Rang Mackie support up, but all they do now are the Chinese replacements which have bad reviews on Mackie forum. Anybody ever put any other speaker in them eg Celestion etc? If so, which ones?
  3. I use one of the cheap plastic bodied Antari ones (around £35 on ebay), and I too am waiting for it to break so I can justify getting a different coloured one...but no luck. Had it working every weekend for 2 years. And it gives out a surprisingly large amount ...and reheats super quick. Had a large hazer before that, but wouldn't want to go back to carrying the weight...and the Antari is super economical and compact...highly recomended! If you need vast amounts get two! (But I use it with my rock band, really 'over the top' and its more than enough
  4. This is a cracking powered system...300w sub and 2 x 150w satellite speakers (all amps are in the sub). Surprisingly loud for the size. Currently sells for around £650 so a half price bargain (more or less) at just £325 Manchester area

  18. TOPIC MOVED OK...its your special birthday (21st, 30th,60th whatever) You've hired a downstairs room in a local social club, invited 100 guests comprising family and friends. You don't want to do the disco, and you don't really know anyone who will step in. You want a 1k rig with adequate lighting..a few spots, some scanners etc etc... Event lasts from 8pm till midnight... How much would you want to pay...and after a few calls, what would sway it for you to book one over the other (bearing in mind you know nothing about any of the discos you've rung)?
  19. OK everybody (its something to do on a miserable Friday afternoon) How much would YOU pay a dj to do a 12 hour houseparty at your house, if you couldn't do it?
  20. Yeh but there's loads of Polish plumbers around these days who would do it for a reasonable price. I'm largely playing devils advocate here, but I still think £2000 is a ridiculous amount that your average client would just scoff at. Why not ask for a million?Going off some of the posts on here, theres bound to be someone somewhere who would pay it. If I go into a pub on Xmas day I don't expect a pint to cost me £150. By all means charge double your normal rate (as taxi drivers do) or simply refuse to do it full stop. OK, lets reverse it (and I know the original question was me
  21. Laura White!...50000 complaints to X Factor
  22. I think in any 'poll' like this, The Beatles should be taken out. No other band comes, or will ever come, close. They defined modern music and their influence on 'culture' as a whole was immense. Try playing the most obscure Beatles track you can think of at a disco, and I guarantee you'll see people tapping their feet, singing along or dancing to it. Try doing that with the music of any other band!
  23. If I got an enquiry about Xmas day working, I'd ask THEM what their budget was I(in fact I try and turn the tables on them quite a lot now ie when they say 'how much do youcharge?@ I ask them how much do they want to pay. If its within striking distance of how much I think I should get I'll haggle them up...if its miles away, I'll say no thanks. As for the fee on Xmas day, I dont know anyone who I've ever done a disco for in 25 years of djing who would pay £2000. Where are these people? Might be in super affluent areas, but none round here. In fact I'd cringe about asking that for doing d
  24. Yes, I had a big Antari one...loads of snow, trouble is all the kids (and a few drunks) just used to stand in front of it and let themselves get covered. Slippery floor was a problem too. Keep it well high though and out of anybody's way and they're ok Quite economical too, and can also be used as a foam machine if memory serves me right
