  1. Friday - posh 5* otel in Horsham, wedding for 150, with a soul band (cool), should be a corker... They have asked for me to play Auld Lang Syne http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif Saturday - posh wedding in a 900 yr old catle in Sussex
  2. QUOTE If you traler is full of equipment to start with, and this is for just a normal disco, nothing large and spectacular, how do you fit aditional sound system into somewhere with no space? Just curious Well, it's a case of what do you take out as a minimum. If you don't have any means of getting around a cruitial failing piece of kit, the night is over. My car/van/trailer will be full including backup gear. Time to assess your gear, think how you would carry on working if any one or more bits of gear fail. Pay attention to any single point of failure - ie mixer, DJ!
  3. QUOTE Also....safety pins. Why? ah, you've never lost a button, or zipper in front of 500+ people then... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/laugh.gif Since I bent over to adjust the amp in my tux once, and the seam ripped around my fat a:cense:e, I usually take a cheap pair of black trousers with me!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/oops.gif

  7. QUOTE Come on Admit it!, how many people here who use / have used CD's players, carry around two spare CD Players? . Along with Back up Amp and Mixer? I carry a couple of spare cd walkmans, spare mic, mixer amp (which is good for speeches setup as well as being a spare if the mixer or amp goes down). I run at least 2 speakers, and independant lighting effects, so I hope all is covered. QUOTE Has anybody thought about using a ipod or 2 to dj with as back up or for main use as thery now have up to 60gigs storage which is plenty I also carry an Ipod with all the Nows loaded, but it wil
  8. Don't most of us DJ types serve up cheese at a wedding? (Abba, Kylie, SClub x, Gloria Gaynor, etc...)

    You never know

Wake up Mikee!! Well, it's been all over MTV dance for the last few weeks, I have played it once or twice, it is very commercial, should make all the Ibiza 2004 summer cds!
  10. OK, for xx years, I have never had this requested for a first dance. Then, I get four weddings in a row asking for it. What have I missed? Was it on a chick flick recently? I know it was a bond theme, but that was yonks ago. I wish the same applied to lotto wins http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  11. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif Gary, your post is priceless!!! Did you know that during your lifetime, in you sleep, you will eat around 8 spiders? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/fear.gif Saturday: My 40th!! but I was doing a wedding in a marquee in Surrey Ya! Went very well, could have gone on beyond midnight though... Had 2 disco divers, one of them was the usual 'bloke in a kilt', the other was one of the tipsy bridesmaids, who later managed to fall out of her dress after we finally worked out what BPM was equivalent to the resonant frequency of her

  13. Did a wedding for Billy Nomates and his missus last night in a 900 year old castle! Went ok. Question: what do you do when members of the audience are stoned on weed and coke? They were asking for dub reggae, punk, and GABBA!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/wacko.gif Tonight, celebrating my forthcoming 40th in a tent in a campsite in deepest Sussex with wife, kids, friends Saturday: My birthday, and I am doing a high society wedding in a marquee in surrey ya! Sunday: chill
  14. apples ITUNES - fantastic, you can get it for free for MAC and PC from the apple web site
  15. QUOTE one day brian you will do the right thing and get Denons !! I've got DN-D4000! and I have already offered you £50 to take those 2 dn-s5000 and that dn-x1500 off you http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif Seriously, they are all superb to work with, I would just like to see 1 improvement I'm obviously going to have to embarrass you by posting that pic of you on cdj1000s!!!
  16. Gary, I still find the wave display idispensable (that how you spell it?) - information is everything. If I can see it approaching, I am counting the beats anyway and will get to the mix point spot on. I must have it!!! It is another very useful tool in my player. Let's face it, if you want to emulate vinyl as accurately as possible (you can see track structure on the surface of a record), a visual indication of the track structure is part of the emulation and makes the whole interface more user-friendly! I also don't have a problem paying for spares on a premium product if I need to.
  17. Hmmm, looks good. The one thing stopping me from getting dn-s5000 x 2 or newer is the lack of wave data on the display as featured on my trusty old cdj1000 decks. This, to me is essential, as being the original DJ Dory (Can't remember anything), I need to know when the breakdown is approaching etc... in order to MIX! Other than that, the Denon stuff is tops. My DN-D4000 also does exactly what it says on the box and works a treat. I appreciate there is possibly an issue with replicating the wave data feature Pioneer have, but can the nice chaps at Hadyn Labs get Denon to be innovativ

    Musical Room 101

To quote the Blues Brothers: Both types of music, country AND western Personally, I am convinced it is the music of the devil! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/patriot.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/221.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/scared.gif
  19. Yeah, forgot about Drum & Bass, it will really go down a treat - you must have: Shy fx & t power - shake UR body DJ Marky & XRS - LK And don'forget to drop that track I gave you by Paul Velocity - Your love, reactions please! QUOTE At a 14th a few months ago, a few self styled Goths, also requested a few classic rock tracks. Namely Black Sabbath, Whitesnake et al. I also frequently get asked for the likes of Marilyn Manson and Nirvana At 16, they usually have grown out of the Grundge phase
  20. I used to carry an inflatable 2ft mic - was brilliant when someone asked to sing along or for speeches! The best use for it was at the end of the night when you are 1/2 way through packing up and the taxi driver wanders in asking if you can put a shout for his fare ove the mic
  21. Hi Marky, I do these regularly, you will probably need R&B, Hip-hop, and a bit of UK Garage. Go to Trevor Nelsons R&B chart on the radio 1 website for a start. I would also insist that 'a responsable adult' is present, and make sure you take at least one roadie with you. Cheers, Brian
  22. QUOTE (DJ Marky Marc @ Aug 10 2004, 01:07 PM) The SMS is a cool idea, i will have to put that into practice very soon........ http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif Now, if you were really unscupulous, you could get a prime number and charge £50 per text! No, you must not do this! I use a message display to ask for requests, and once or twice at school discos, I have used the txt request to one of my phones idea. The funny thing was that one number asked for the same track about twenty times! What a plonker! But it did work quite well.
  23. QUOTE (DJ Marky Marc @ Aug 10 2004, 03:09 PM) IF you want WOW factor come and stand in front of my sound system and ill make you go WOW to almost any tune http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif I bet motown still sounds bad on your system!!! Funny how they did not use bass in that stable, but they did in non-motown 60's outfits like the chiffons.... I digress.
  24. QUOTE India > to be in love Atmosfear > Dancing in outer space India - quality! Atmosphear - I had a request and played that last week - quality! QUOTE Posive Force -We got the funk Brian's got the funk.........
  25. Every now and then, I get a request for a tune which I may not have played for a long time which was awesome in its day, and which is not heard often on Radio / TV. A kind of 'gone but not forgotten' tune. These have all been recent requests which have made me go WOW, all quality tunes that deserve a good airing: Soul II Soul - Fairplay Jon Carter - It's yours Ten City - That's the way love is Katmandu - I wanna dance Hamilton Bohannon - Let's start the dance II Nightcrawlers - push the feeling on So, what WOW! requests have you had?
