  1. Hi Guys. I have found out that the place I was working at has now decided to not have anything on NYE. If anyone has anything in the South Wales area come free can you let me know. Minimum fee is £500 plus depending on travel etc.
  2. Bob, I have the old PCDJ Red, PCDJFX, Tracktor 3, and Virtual DJ V5. Having used all of them I found the virtual DJ easy to use and will do whatever you want . Easy to set up and easy to use.
  3. Hi Clive, Nice to see another Ponty boy on the forum. I have also been DJing around the same time as you but to tell you the truth have never heard of you. Sorry about that but have worked mostly away from Ponty but did work in the famous Gingers for a fair while. Would be good if you drop me a line and tell me where you working as I'm always looking out for good DJ's in my area that can basically cover all types of work and are willing to travel. See you soon. Gez http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thanks.gif
  4. Nice to see that there are a lot of DJ's on this board that have a professional attitude. Now let's look at a different trade for a moment. Take for instance the mechanic down ther road. He works five days a week and each dat he charges a rate for his services. Is he any different from you? Well there is a good argument for not discounting. If you think you are worth £300 or £100 you have to quote what you think. If it was me the charge would be a minimum of £150. If they want to pay £80 for a disco my attitude is let them pay that if someone is happy to earn that for a night it's up to t
  5. As we are talking about PRS let me tell you about the PRS guy I once had in a club that I worked. It was the first ever visit we had and he spent nearly the whole night drinking and in the booth with me having a laugh. I gotta say he was real nice then he dropped a bombshell which made my jaw drop. He told me that he no longer bought any CD's or albums etc as he was downloading them all. He then proceeded to give me the names of the sites he used which were amazing. Now I must ask how did this guy do the job that he was doing then did this "illegal downloading" as well. I think he must have

  13. Welcome to the board. Any questions just ask think there's enough of us to answer anything here
  14. Chris, I think the idea was there but unfortunately it has been abused by certain people. The problem with all us DJ's, and I mean no offence to anyone with this comment, is that we always think we are better than someother DJ. I myself have been guilty in the past of rating someone lower than myself but have come to the thought that we are all doing the same type of job and we should let people get on with it and not pass comment. You can always tell if someone is thought good by the public by the ammount of work they get. In my oppinion if you are going to set up a link that will provide

  18. Nathan, If you need any help or information as I am not too far away from you and have worked in Swansea a number of times drop me a line and I can help put you on touch with people in your area that could help you out with any problems you have as well.
  19. Adice given here is great and as others have said talk to the bride & groom and find out what thier song is. If you get hassle from guests asking when you gonna start be polite and tell them it's normally after the buffet whereupon you welcome everybody to the venue and then call the bride and groom to start the evening officially. After this its all down hill lol. Seriously enjoy the experience and dont be frightened after all not everyone wants to dance all night without a break. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/goodjob.gif
  20. Well not had an arm come flying at me but on one particular night a guy was on the dance floor trying to jive and kicked his leg out and lo and behold it came off and flew across the floor just missing a dear old lady who was walking along the edge. This resulted in her jumping and spilling her drink everywhere which resulted in someone slipping resulted in pulling someone else down on top of them. Anyway to cut a long story short it carried on and ended up with about 15 people sprawlled about the floor and the poor bloke whose leg it was wet himself laughing. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/em
  21. I'll have 1000 and whatever extras are there as well http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/whistling.gif
  22. Peeps this was all tried many year ago by a good friend of mine named Terry Lees. He had an exhibition which ran for a number of years in Edgbaston Cricket Club as it was seen as more central than the London exhibition as it was aimed at the mobile market. This event always had a good turn out but mainly from the dealers rather than the major manufacturers. They saw the day as a bit of waste of time as it was highly unlikely that they would actually make any money from the day. The main band of attendees were mainly from the Midlands very few people travelled up from the south or even came do
