  1. iec means power? I dont know if a power lead would make a diferance? let me know if it does! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/533.gif When I bough my PA it came with some crappy spkr leads, these were quickly replaced with some quality leads, the differance was simply astounding, clearer base could reach a higher spl with less effort on the gear. replaced rcas with jack adapter between amp and mixer with a guitar lead with rca fiited to one again, agagin differance amazing, now run less gain on channels and have clearer sound. as for regulars realising diferance, i agree,
  2. I tried an ultra fex for a few gigs and they are good.... Basicly it makes a pa sound "warmer" more like a hifi system Good for when the music is quiet but only good if you have plenty of head room in your system when you crank it up. I decided not to buy one as A) its another peice of kit to add to the rack B) i asked a few "punters" and they didnt really think it made much of a differance c) I spent the $$ on new new cabling all round (often overlooked) In saying this if I was doing a club install I would chuck one in
  3. yeah yeah i know john (hes a ***********, but i didnt tell you that.) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/whistling.gif
  4. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/tongue.gif cheers for the friendly re- welcome as for where have i been? just been really busy and also spending alot of spare time at bach, (kiwi term for a holiday house) and as for the sunny weather, its about time, summer was terrible until feb 1 and since then has been beautiful.... mind you I was rumaging in garage and uncovered snowboard at bottom of pile, almost looking forward to using it again... http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/huh.gif
  5. I havent seen the acmes but I have a couple of Chauvet Escape barrel scanners, linked running via dmx controller, dont know what the chauvets are worth in the uk but here in new zealand they are about 1 third the price of martin acrobats. I used a acrobat alongside my chauvets last weekend and the martin is far more impressive, but sooooo pricey
  6. Its been a while since ive been round these parts, good to see the sites still cranking. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/pizza.gif

  9. If it makes you feel any better i was at a gig on saturday night in a marquee, and i forgot my fan heater, and it was freezing!!! (we are in the depths of winter down here granted its the driest warmest winter in record but its still winter.) you guys sound likr your having a cracker of a summer over there. my little sister is living in scotland and she said its almost like summer back here in nz except the humidity is higher and no seabreeze (but i guess u get that living on a locke) Next week i have a sweet little gig saturday night, 2 hours, full price, small rig, for the a national s
  10. my mate who is a computer geek (*and proud of it) told me to that when burning music in any form (ie encoding cd to mp3 or ripping a music cd) to only have open the burning software to maximise the available virtual memory (ram?) as you need a large buffer (ram?) to burn music files, plus as there are only music on them any small defect in a file will stick out like the proverbial sore thumb when you chuck the disc in the cd players. make shure u close all programs, even minor programs like kazza and msn messenger in the tool bar, and maybe try not being connected to the net. also try burning
  11. thanks for the help people. i got hold of cdex and it works fantastic. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/thumbup.gif ps i hope yu are all enjoying the heatwave because it is freezing here!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif
  12. hey there, another fellow kiwi!!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/042.gif yes dj gear is really expensive in nz, but if u think the sound equipment is exspensive checkout the diferance in price for lights!!!! its rediculous. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/014.gif when it comes to djing in nz u have 3 routes, (the guys at dmc or at the dj course wont tell u this bit!) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1106.gif 1) Mobile Dj, plays requests all night, mainly older/commercial music (average charge around $500 for five hours with 1000 watt pa and lights. Norma
  13. ok so this is the deal, i, like most of you have aproximately 7 trillion cd singles that i carry round to each gig with me, http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1087.gif now at the very most there is only 2 versions i would ever play (most of them have nothing that i would play http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/188.gif ) but as you all know if i take that spice girl single out of my box good old murphy will come and request it. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1087.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1087.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/1087.gif
  14. i'm looking to add some new lighting effects to my rig so that i dont keep lining the pockets of the guy that i hire my lights off at the moment. I currently hire Martin Acrobats but find the image projected on the floor to be quite dull (i think the hire guy is a tightwad and has low wattage long life bulbs in them!) I live in new zealand and i cant pop down to a store to see them cos they dont stock them so i was hoping that you could help me with some recomendations. Scanners? rotating drum lights? arrrrgggghhhh!!!! so much choice Thanks
  15. i have grown up around peavey, my father owned a sound hire company and started buying peavey 15 years ago, obviously we dont have that same gear anymore, but the some of the people who bought used stuff off us ten years ago are still using it. I know when i went to buy my rig the first thing i priced up was peavey. P.S> have you guys seen the special DJ model Sp4's by peavey???? Sp4's go very hard and sound terrific, but only if you have a VERY POWERFUL AMP, you cant be cheap and underpower the cones as the black widdow cones will destruct. worth a look and a listen in my mind an
