Sort of explains why so much club gear has a very short life span. Used, abused and then chucked away. I wonder how many mobile DJs would use their gear like that? Keith

I got two flat bars from Powerdrive and fitted some blockboard that was 18" wide to the two bars making a shelf. This locates onto my S&H and is held in place by 4 pins that drop through the flat bars and into the S&H frame. £20 job done and it makes the frame very stable and is a perfect working height for me. Will try and get a picture at weekend. Keith

I run Deltec speakers and have done so for many years. They are excellent and give great value for money. Most of the time I use 2 x CX1s and 2 x BX16s running off a QSC PLX3402 and find these are more than man enough for most of the venues I work. If interested I can supply them at a very good price. After yesterday's SEDA meeting I now have a Martin Mania EFX500 for sale (Just purchased the discharge lamp version). It is in good condition and fully working. From memory there is one glass strip with some damage but that does not affect the light in any way. I will try to get some photos tonight for those interested. Open to sensible offers, via PM, and would prefer collection as they are quite easy to damage. Keith

My concern was that someone may have taken the advice of removing the earth before subsequent advice was given, with potential risks to thenselves and others. As it happens there has been an excellent explanation, but I think some 2 days later. As has been said "time for a group hug" Keith

What!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Are you really saying what I think. Removing the earth is not only dangerous but irresponsible. Never never remove an earth it is there for a reason. Original post said the hum was there with nothing plugged in so it cannot be the laptop. Keith

Did you ever trace the fault? Keith

To trace the faulty piece of equipment should be very easy. Do the following: - 1.Plug speakers in to amp and power up. If there is a hum check the mains lead and if you have a mains lift switch on amp activate that. 2. If no hum plug in mixer and power up. If hum then check leads between mixer and amp ensuring earth is connected. 3. If no hum continue plugging in gear until you get the hum. 4. Do not plug gear in when testing and leaving turned off and this will give a false test. Hope this is of help. PS Sounds like a faulty cable to me Keith

I use 4 of the X-Scan LEDs and they are excellent. Recently did a Hunt Ball for 300 people in a large venue and they kept up with my PR150 moving heads. Excellent build quality and bright. Keith

Sounds like you should really take the speaker to your local repair shop if you are not confident at soldering. Leaving it may cause serious damage to the amp, depending on the protection circuits it has. Keith
