  1. Not sure about sound quality but jacks are a lot easier to have pulled out by accident - I have one set of speakers that need jacks if they're daisy chained and this can be a problem that I just dont get with speakons.
  2. Hi everyone - about a month ago I needed some cheap backup headphones so I took a chance on one of the cpc clearance deals at: http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/endecaSearch/pa...0076861&N=0 I've been really impressed - if you need something with reasonable sound quality - the cups pivot through 90 degrees and they're very comfortable. I know you get what you pay for so dont start making comparisons with the usual high-end alternatives but I went so happy with the set I bought that I ordered 5 more pairs to pass to my kids to destroy. All the best, Chris.
  3. I've used the 1501s for about 3 years - never had a problem and very pleased. Cheers, Chris.
  4. Try this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sk8er-Rock-Vol-1-S...ie=UTF8&s=music and also volume 2 - v.good. Cheers, Chris.
  5. Seems a difficult choice - people who have used the McGregor kit will know it's good. Might be worth looking at part-exchange on the CD players or small ads? Especially given that the carriage costs hit ebay buyers quite hard here. Up here there are some local dealers who specialise in McGregor kit (eg Glasgow Sound Center) and they would be able to sell on the speakers pretty easily I would guess - is there anything like that near you? Also, some of the other PA companies will let you put small-ads on their web site if you do business with them - eg See third party gear on:
  6. It's cracking up here on the west coast of Scotland - but I guess it'll be Winter here again tomorrow - 2 days of Summer in a row could only be due to global warming. Do you lot still have a hosepipe ban 8)
  7. Dont forget Atlantic Soul too 8) Motown isnt the only label. I use this collection a lot, sorry about the URL: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00062F...=UTF8&s=gateway
  8. I have to agree with Robbie - the only time I touch my eq is if I have my bass bins - trying to get a good balance between with the mid/tops but it's usually a last resort and I feel as though I've not got the balance/placement right before hand.
  9. Over the years, I've had a creative DAP jukebox (20Gb about 5 years ago), a couple of SD-card MP3 players, 2x 1Gb stick players and a 1Gb Nano clone but have never owned an Ipod - only now I'm thinking of getting one as some of the user interfaces to the above have been really irritating. By the way, I bought a pair of the low impedance Beyer DT100s for my USB players - you look a complete plonker but the sound is brilliant and it shields out most of the outside noise - very comfortable for long plane rides.

or look for Chris' instructions on how to make one yourself 8) Can't find the thread this morning 8(
  11. I use the Asdas CD players (with anti-shock) around £10, plus £3.00 for a transformer (also bought from Asdas). I have the MP3 version for home use as well (about £15.00). They both have seperate line outs and headphone sockets. The CD players have remote controls so would meet all your needs. The MP3 player doesnt and the buttons are on the left and right front of the unit but arent too bad to use - given that you're not going to be using it that often? I have both of my spare walkman style CD players wired to a spare mixer and power block in a 19" case so I can be going withi
  12. I have 2 of the prolight cases for 2xPanthers and 2xJaguars. +ve things. They are prett robust, look great and stack easily. The foam inserts keep everything well protected and there's space for cables and controllers. The lids come off completely so there's no fiddly loading and unloading issues with the top bit hitting you on the head as the hinge swings 8( -ve things If you are using tham a lot you might want to get custom cases made as the weight of the lights can create a twisting force on the reinforced boards that Prolight use. I dont use them enough to justi
  13. QUOTE I absolutly LOVE IT. I think its great that the whole country is on the same side... Am getting excited to having Wayne Rooney playing for my team... Might be better to say the whole nation is on the same side. They're still selling a lot of Trinidad and Tobaggo (sp?) shirts up here in Glasgow.
  14. PAYG for me but increasingly using Skype - it's great if you take a laptop on a Lufthansa flight they have a WiFi system so you can call for free while crossing the Atlantic even in cattle class 8)
  15. I have 2 Jaguars and 2 Panthers and you can link them no problem - the dip switch settings for inversion are in the manual - just one issue is that one of them has to be the first in the chain (ie you have to start with a Jaguar). I can check all of this for you if you want tomorrow but I'm in the States until then. Cheers, Chris.
  16. Thanks - I'll get onto them for the unterminated cable 8) All the best, Chris.
  17. Here's the reply: > Unfortunately not. The connector for the 250's is 7 pin & the 100's is 6 pin. Looks like it might be time for a soldering iron 8(
  18. Hi everyone - I have a pair of BeyerDynamic DT100s and wondered if I can use the replacement cables for DT250s with them - (the DT250s have minijacks+standard phone connectors, the DT100s just have the standard phono connectors). Both the DT100s and DT250s use BeyerDynamic connectors at the headphone end so if the wiring is compatible it should work 8) I use the lower impedence DT100s with my MP3 player and am getting fed up with the plastic mini-jack converter 8( All the best, Chris.
  19. I bought a generic 3 meter triangular goal post off ebay (can't tell if it's skytec or not) for around £70 - metal collars on the bars - and havent had a problem in two years. I have had problems with the plastic fixtures on T bars though. I think like the others that it's important not to overload them as they use a 3 bolt brace in the mid-section. Also, you cant use the two 1.5M sections separately so I usually have to carry a T bar as well in case there isnt room for the 3M span. I dont usually have a roady with me and this can create problems if you need to hoist a bar with
  20. I agree with Mark - also check the sections will fit in your car/van with the rest of the gear (Sorry, I guess that's obvious).
  21. A Mackie Active Subwoofer that weighs a ton - sometimes I wish it would be stolen 8)
  22. I agree with Kingy - I have a flight case for the usual 19" kit on wheels from them. Can't remember how much it cost but they are excellent and the finish is great - catches/handles etc. Cheers, Chris,
  23. If it's not from PPL, tell PPL and the police?
  24. 26th Feb - has anyone said that already?
