  1. Hi I'm currently using Mix Meister, a good little program with lots of good features, easy to use too, a good buy at about £30 Will let you, compile play lists, change bpm of songs, beet mix, export to burn to CD, send you own webcasts etc. Definitely worth a look. Just do a search for Mix Meister as I can't remember the website address, sorry. Darren
  2. Hi I've also got SRM450's, and if I were going for subs, i'd going for mackie's. Whether yo go for one or two depends partially on how much space you've got and how strong your back is. Something that sounds very nice might not be very practical to lift, especially if you're working on your own. Loud speekers with booming base will never replace a tallented DJ who plays all the right music. No good having 2k of thwacking booming noise, if the rest of the show is lacking. Unless you're playing to rooms of 500 plus, stick with what you have, the punters don't really know the difference.
  3. Hi ok from Kylie, I'll assume it's Can't get you outa my head. Into: Mojo, Lady her me tonight, into: DJ (god help us) Otsi, Hey baby, into Scooter, ligical song...for the youngsters, finally! Darren
  4. Hi folks It might be worth mentioning here that I received a couple of emails yesterday, both had attachments and the contents were identicle. both were confirming playlist of songs for a wedding. Anyone who has lots of bookings might be forgiven for opening the attachments as it seems to be from a customer. Don't do it!. This is worrying stuff, getting targetted viruses, god what next? Darren
  5. Ok then, tons of old old stuff here, but very little charts, so gotta bring it back up to date, but not immediately. Time to show off your light show to the fullest, whack on Frankie and Relax. How you get it back to the 90's and 2000 plus is your job. Please not too much smoke! Darren
  6. Hi folks Ok here goes. I don't get chance to get out on the dancefloor with the punters as I'm totally blind, woldn't be good for health and safety, also, when I'm in my space, folks don't need to know I'm blind, but when they find out, hehehe amazement! So how do I set up so I'm accessible at all times. Ultimax stand with gantry goes up first, then speakers on tripods as far apart as I can get them. Lights go up on gantry. finally the wiring happens, all done from in front of the rig so folks don't have to come looking for me. One end of space is closed off, whenever possib
  7. Hi folks Anyone got any rock balls? No smut thanks, lol. If you don't know them by that anme, they're the two globes set on a stand that spins, while the balls spin around independantly. I understand they're lit from within and look very busy in a room. Anyone got one or tried one, interested to hear. Darren
  8. Hi folks Thanks for the suggestions thus far, makes sense, at least it would if I were a techie *smile* Ok I'm not sure if you've seen the ultimax Multi-bar, so I'll explain how it's set up. It's a 9ft bar that folds in half. Each side has 2 x 4 IEC and 2 x 2 Bulgin sockets. So I come out from the bulgin out on my controller and into the far right bulgin on the bar. It's then a case of daisey chaining the lights, depending on how I want them set up. eg, Super Leo go in socket 1 of each section of the bar, so the Leo's are using one channel on the controller, Scimitars in socke
  9. Hi folks Need a bit of help with this one and I'll be as brief as possible. My current show includes the following lighting: 4 x super leo 2 x super scimitar 2 x evl spins 1 evl strobe 1 njd sword epod for spins and strobe, and hand remote for leo's and spins. plus controller to switch power on/off for all lighting. All lighting is hung on an overhead hardwired gantry, just plug and play. The problem I'm having is with my 2 leos. Any time I switch the Leos on via the main controller (not the remote), the triac blows for that channel. This has happened with two separate c
  10. Hi folks I'm surprised at all the negative comment regarding mastermix. I subscribe to the pro disk collection and am always surprised how far ahead they are, eg, fast food rockers (god help us) 6 weeks before it's actually out, I could go on but I won't. I also find their Classic Cuts stuff extremely good and have tons of them. I'll have to take a look at DMC and see how they compare. However, I have to say, I've heard some of the mastermix mixes and in some cases, given the right equipment I could do much better lol. Good idea though Chris, I had a large CD collection before
  11. Hi folks The now's up to now 10 were only available on that old plastic stuff and tape. I have now 11, 12, 14, 15 18 and 20 through 54 on cd. I never have a nights music worked out in my head. I do have a mental log of songs that tend to work well together and certain songs that I play as floor fillers, but I also like to slip some stuff in their that will make folks thing "jesus I haven't heard this one in ages!" Darren
  12. Hi folks I'm back off my holls all refreshed and up for it! First issue. Never never never never ever ever ever!, put up a site unless it's ready for website traffic. I made this point very clearly in my post on internet marketing. Goggle, Altavister and other search engines do not require you to submit, although if you want your most current pages listed, it's recommended that you do so once a month. Ok, for the bad news. goggle, which is by far the most popular search engine for the UK at least, do not look at your meta keyword tag, and only use the meta description tag as p
  13. Hi folks As promised, here's my piece on web design and internet marketing. Be aware it's only an introctuion but is still a large chunk of text. I should warn that it does not include search engine information as I'll write a separate article regarding search engines and traffic building. Introduction to Website Design and Internet Marketing Overview The following is an introduction to the huge subject of website design and Internet related marketing. I will cover: Why you need a web presence How a website fits into your business goals What program to use Website hostin
  14. Hi folks Last week I promised to right up a little something as an intro to website designing and internet marketing. Well, I'm almost done. it's a rather length piece so has taken longer than I had antcipated, I'd forgotten how many things there are to consider. As a quick teaser for you the piece will contain brief details covering the following topics. Why you need a website How a website fits your business goals What programs to use Website hosting and domain names The most wanted response (MWR) The look and feel of your site building trust and likeability What not to d
  15. Ok people, let's hear your favourite misheard lyrics. Here are a few to kick you off. Freddy Mercury, Living on my own - I get so lonely lonely lonely lonely yeah, got to beat some gits on the head. meatloaf, Bat out of hell second verse - Like a cilla black fan on a bike. bill Haily, rock around the clock, after the last instrumental break - When the clock strikes twelve we'll poo our pants. Destinies child, Independence, just before the chorus - Shoes on my feet, alf garnet, etc etc etc. And finally shaggy, Shake ya body - I cant type without fear of being deleted, howev

Hi Just to make a teen tine correction froma previous post. Wahm, I'm your man - I'll be your boy I'll be your man. and Sister Sledge, We are family - We're givin' love in a family dose.
  17. Hi folks I've gotta say, I've had more requests for songs that are considered utter crap than stuff I'd consider music. The fastfood song will be the one that's played most often this summer through xmas at all family gigs, if only for the fact that it's sort of an anthem for the brownies. If ya wanna know what's in, ask the kids. Tracks that still fill the floor. Wigfield, saturday night Dexy's, Come on Eileen Whamm, Wake me up before you go steps, tragedy Damian, time Wharp I rest my case.
  18. Hi folks Just going to put in my 2 cents worth here as I know a little about website design. Although meta tags are a consideration, search engines are relying less and less on them for rankings. It's much more vital to have good content rich pages, and this is why: We'll use google as an example of how it hapens. Once every 4 weeks or so, google sends out little robots to index pages in their databases. When someone types in a ksearch ter (eg, mobile disco coventry) Google will returns results based on what it has found while indexing pages. If the bots come across a site with
  19. Hi folks Just a few points on website design. I've spent the last 2 years doing a personal study of website and internet marketing. Based on the information I gathered, I built my own site last November for my mobile disco, and within a month I was getting number one rankings on most of the major search engines. It's not about just building a site and hoping that people will come and look. You must consider how you're going to let people know you're there. Simply submitting to the search engnes isn't enough. Remember to fill your pages with good quality content, keep it simple
  20. Hi Y'all! I've got Mix Meister Software, and there's a facility to allow webcasting. Never tried it out for that purpose so can't comment as to it's reliability and useability, worth a shot though. good luck Hugmaster
  21. Hi folks My must plays are as follows: 70's Bee Gees, Stayin' alive. Donna Summer, I feel love. KC and the Sunshine band, that's the way I like it. Heatwave, Boogy nights. 80's Tin Tin, Kiss me. Run DMC, Walk this way. Human League, Don't you want me. Animal Magnet, Welcome to the monkeyhouse. Frankie, Relax - Great with a strobe and lots of haze! Other R Kelly, vibe. Britney, Slave for you/Justin timberlake, Like I love you - get it mixed right and it sounds great. Steps, Chain reaction - don't press me for a reason, but it always works. Hugmaster
  22. Hi folks I'm from the Northants are of the UK and have been DJing professionally since 1997. I'm 34 years old and so my main area of expertise lies in the 70's and 80's. Due to other time commitments, I don't get to DJ as often as I used to, but I've still got most of the lights and sound system and hope to earn a bit of extra cash at Xmas. My partner is in the process of setting up a Northants and Warwickshire directory of DJ's and entertainers, but more of that in another topic. Look forward to some lively discussions. Hugmaster
