  1. Thanks to everybody who has sent their details. I have passed them all on. I will continue to pass on details if anybody else is interested. Cheers, Shaun
  2. Dear All, A work colleague of mine has a 40th Birthday Party booked at Mill Hall, Rayleigh in Essex on the 28th February, 2009. The gig was offered to me, but it is a bit too far for me to travel. Would anybody here be interested?? If so, please PM me your contact details and I will pass them on. All negotions will be between you and the client. I will not be in the loop. Cheers, Shaun
  3. Firstly please note I am a smoker. Secondly I am a committe member of a small social club which spent large amounts of cash on extraction equipment on the advice of the CIU, who initally thought that private members clubs would be exempt from the new legislation, but would have to demonstrate that they were taking measures to deal with smoke. Let me tell you this is now not the case. The legislation is designed to protect employees, and as such, with a few exceptions (prisons etc.) all workplaces must be smoke free with effect from 1st July, 2007. This is why it is not possible to provi
  4. Can anyone point me in the right direction for buying mixed cds for background music. I have looked on Mastermix but can't find anything suitable. Needs to be middle of the road type stuff.
  5. Can anybody tell me where I can download an (legal) MP3 of this tune. It is on the the album " Blondie - Greatest Hits - Sight and Sound", but i-tunes do not have the complete album!!! Cheers.
  6. Thanks for all your help, it has put my mind at rest. Will stick with what I've got, and how I currently set it up, because as you say "it works for me". My main concern was with which sockets to use on the speakers, but it would not appear to be to critical. cheers for now
  7. Do you need to have two amps in order to incorporate a crossover?
  8. Thanks for your replies. In answer to your question, yes they are the standard BX16, the unfiltered version. I understand “now” how they would sap some power, but have never had a problem with output; however would it affect the clarity of the sound? Would it be beneficial to incorporate some sort of crossover into the system? Thanks
  9. Whilst I have not had any problems as yet, something has just occurred to me about the way I am connecting my speakers. My Deltec speakers have two speakon connectors on each. I am using a GX15 and a BX16 powered from each channel of the amp. I connect the BX16 to the amp, and then the BX16 to the GX15, on each side. My question is, does it matter which speakon connector is used to connect the different component parts? When looking at the rear of the speaker, I use the rule “in on the left, out on the right”, but I am wondering if this is correct. There are no markings on th

  11. Well did the party yesterday, and went pretty smoothly. Had lots of "help" picking out CDs and got through my entire stock of glowstick bracelets. Top tunes were: Black Eyed Peas - My Humps (Played about 4 times) Los Del Rio - Macerana Pussy Cat Dolls - Don't Cha Sugababes - Push the Button Kelly Clarkson -Since U Been Gone Throughly enjoyed it, though it was hard work.
  12. Brilliant!! Will check my CD boxes, and top up with a few I think I might need. Thanks for your help.
  13. Hi Guys and Gals, I have a booking for a girls 12th birthday party next weekend. What sort of music are 11 and 12 year olds into at the moment. not really done Kids parties before, but her mother had seen my show previously and liked the lights!! Any help would be appreciated. Cheers
  14. Cheers Gary, will look forward to reading their reply. I did read loads of previous threads on the licensing issue, but in all honesty it confused the http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/pooh.gif out of me. Keep up the good work http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/goodjob.gif
  15. I currently DJ using CD's, and was contemplating switching to a hardrive system. But, for the number of Gigs I currently do the cost of the new digital license would be prohibitive. However, I do currently use downloaded tracks which I have purchased from various sources that are burnt to CD-R. According to the DJMag website, and I quote: QUOTE The Digital DJ license costs £200 per year and legally allows DJs to make up to 20,000 digital recordings onto a laptop or a computer to play out in clubs and pubs. However, the license only covers DJs that play directly off laptops or co
