  1. Hi Everyone Doing an eighteenth birthday Friday and as it is has been a few months since I bought some music thought it might be good to get some fresh stuff. Anyone know what is currently big in clubland with Hip Hop / Dance / DnB etc be nice to get some current good stuff and perhaps a few up and coming tunes?
  2. What were the reasons for the HDCD being discon? I may look at the Denon but I'd really like a CD tray as well.
  3. Hi Guys Has anyone had any experience of the NUMARK HDCD1? It is a double CD Player with 80 GB Hard Disk. I think it might now also be discointinued?
  4. Hi Guys Apologies if this question has been asked before but I am struggling to find a definitive answer to this mystery question and I thought maybe one of you guys has come across this issue? I personally own 2 different discos’s and normally run one of the discos myself and the second is run by a second DJ who I pay for Services rendered. Specifically he picks the gear up from me at the weekend and provides me with an invoice/receipt which I pay him for his time/services. I am presently happy with this arrangement as I am self-employed and means that I do not need to pay
  5. Has never happened to me I am glad to say. I have used mine every weekend over a 12 month period and never experienced this problem. It seems this problem is more common on those sets which were purchased over a year or two back. It also seems to happen when the volume control at the back of the units is set past the 12'o'clock position, which indecently should only ever be done when plugging a mic directly into the units.
  6. I have been a Mackie owner for over year now. I have a pair of the SRM450's and one SWA1501 and always been very pleased with their sound. However when I upgraded my mixer a couple of months back with one that comes with a Graph Eq I suddenly released the Mackies true potential. The balance of sound I can now produce from them is amazing, the graph really tightens up the highs and lows of the 450's and in my opinion brings the bass bin to life.
  7. Sounds right to me. I am in the same situation this year and would calculate the same as you have except I would divide it by about 10 at the end of the calculation as I only use my car 10% of the time for discos.
  8. I guess this might be a common problem but I still struggle to find them. Does anyone know where I can buy a reasonally priced 5-pin DMX cable that I would use for linking more than one datamoon to one and another? Previously I have needed to get these specially made but the guy who used to do them for me no longer works for the company. Anyone able to help?
  9. Ok the IColour seems to be coming out tops. Would one be enough or is it best to have a pair, also do you set them down or have them on a T-stand or similar?
  10. How much light do the LED tubes give off as I have considered these as one of my options?
  11. By myself no more than 45 minutes to unload and set up a reasonable sized rig, and about 25 minutes to pack up and load.
  12. I’ve decided to convert my existing Light Screens into a Star Cloth type effect using black blanking boards and sparkling blue LEDs. It has however left me with a dilemma, what to do with regards to a colour wash. The Light Screens were old fashioned I admit, but provided excellent colour fill in venues when required. I am now looking around for an alternative and find myself looking at various options such as the Prolight LED Light Pack or the Koolsound LED Washlight Strobe. Does anyone have any experience of the above lighting or could recommend an effect in replace. I wish to
  13. Having recently invested in the entire back catalogue of the Mix Masters Classic Cuts, I was slightly disappointed to find many of the tracks recorded were of the 12” inch version as opposed to the 7” version. Although there are the occasional 12” tracks that I would find good value in playing in full, I have to say the majority of the extended versions are basically 5 minutes of drum intro beat and 3 minutes of actual song – not at all helpful from a Disco point of view. Personally I was surprised that Mix Masters had chosen to populate their CD’s with so many extended versions, par
  14. I enjoy doing the Kids Discos, and it’s a good way to earn additional income from the disco without taking up a valuable Saturday evenings. To combat the dreaded three hour stint I offer a “special price” on all Kids Discos; booking conditions are no evenings and no longer than 2 hours in length. This meets most customer needs including the Parents who are quite thankful on the day that the party isn’t any longer than 2 hours.
  15. I have always obtained payment on the night before I start my show, but this can sometimes be difficult as it is not always easy to pin down whoever is responsible for paying at that particular point of the night. Following on from the “Unsatisfied Customer” topic I am now going to revise the way in which I obtain payment and ask for full payment 14 days before the actual event. I have always been of the mind that collecting payment should be completed following services rendered, however bad experiences are setting in and stating the payment terms during the booking process will allow the
