I am very serious , even if you dont mix at a gig then the understanding of a songs structure that you get from being able to mix improves your programming no end. Bouncy dancefloor , yes i am a club dj who started as a mobile dj in the 70s, when i left cornwall in 1982 and came out into europe i had not heard of mixing but all the other djs in the town were mixing already . I had to learn or not get any work. i do about 25 mobile gigs a year and about 50 club gigs. i also do stand up and employ about 8 djs (5 club , 3 mobile) as well as running courses for young up and coming djs. I know in

i think its one of the most important things a dj can learn. I expect djs to be able to mix, use the mic, read a crowd and know their music. Its all part of the job.

Quite honest ? I agree with her ! Dresses are an idiotic price ! If i quote a price and the customer tries to bargain then i apologise and say that i am sorry but i do not have any possibility to play at their party and wish them luck. If they then say they will pay the quote then i still refuse the booking. If they insist on a reason then i tell them that i am worth the price quoted and they obviously felt that i wasnt and therefore i am not interested in playing for them.Do it a couple of times and you soon get a reputation as being serious and proffessional !

depends on the gig. about 700 cds for a club gig and about 2\3 thousand for a wedding\mobile.

I dont carry cards cos i dont use them. I have seen secret disco and eskie perform and they are brilliant. Also seen big andy and hes good at the bar !

Fair enough , but drug use is illegal, children are used in the production all over the world and a lot of music has been written while using it but we still play it. I can assure you the families of every drug addict are not pleased for the freedom of choice and artists that make it look cool are nothing better than pushers. Sexual abuse of children can never be codoned in any way but its not the music that has done it. Do you think MJ is guilty because the evidence is there ? over the last 5 years this thread has been up god knows how many times and we have had good members leave the forum

err no MJ because of child misuse,same with any record touched by johnathan king, nothing by james brown the wife beater or jerry lee lewis for marrying his under age cousin. No Led Zep for female abuse (and fish abuse ! ) no beatles, stones etc etc because of drug offences. The list would be endless if you really took this to town. So for me as long as the customer does not give me a dont play list then i will play anything !

Sounds like you were out looking for work. 2. you say that nobody will be booking that venue for their parties, why not ? do you have to book the in house dj ?Perhaps birthday boy has asked for no announcements and mixed music ? 3. who is jacqi ? 4. sorry to be a pain but i must admit it really does wind me up when djs start to criticise other djs.
