  1. I would consider buying another to curl around the base of my speaker stands. I agree with McCardle on this one. Back in the 80's these were heavy thick items where a separate controller was required. They were also very expensive.

The modern ones tend to be 1 colour and are LED. I saw someone use 1 last christmas and I thought it looked quite good.

I am a dated old DJ so it don't matter.!!

Quite fancy one of those LED ones. How much better than the old ones??Anyone got one??

  2. I have never not been paid and I leave it to the client to dosh me up before during or after I have done a fantastic job.

All these rucks you have before you actually peform cannot create a very nice atmosphere between the client and you at the function. Most of my business is repeat business or recomendations....so most know the score!!

  3. It would have been my brothers 50th this year, he left behind his wife and 1 Year old Daughter.

My brother was on his way to work on his push bike (wearing helmet &hivis) when the collision happened.

The news of his death devastated not only our family but his wifes family.

The accident happened on a ratrun which now has traffic calming in place in the form of chicanes and speed humps.

All this was due to speeding to get to work as the driver was late which in turn made my brother late for work permantly.

Unless this happens to someone close most people are completely oblivious to how speeding affects so many people in the event of death. At 35 my brother still had his whole life in front of him with his new wife and daughter.

For the first time since his death this is my first time to put my feelings in writing about the devastation that speeding can have on a family. The hardest thing that still upsets me is that I never got the chance to say goodbye or tell him how much he had meant to me.

So if you are a speeder please think if you do kill someone that you wreck many peoples lives.

Ok Ray.....you genuinely have my deepest sympathy and i'm going to ask you to consider doing something which may seem impossible!!

At the risk of making myself extremely unpopular i'm going to ask you to spare a thought for the other person involved.I doubt wether he will ever get over what he has done.Only a miniscule minority of us would actually get in a car and knowingly go out to kill or maim anyone.

Before you all turn on me please be VERY VERY sure you have NEVER EVER accidentally or delibrately exceeded the speed limit because it may happen to you.If you have managed that in your entire driving history then you can cast stones at the other driver. We do not know if the guy was a persistent offender....or wether he had a lapse in concentration. He seems a genuine enough guy to admit to the reasons why he was speeding.

There are no winners in these situations.....

Going to leave the thread now.......Its too raw for me!!!

  4.

Very few people on here will be doing <=70mph on EVERY motorway journey they have EVER made. One of my foreign relatives when visting the UK on several occasions even thought that the UK speed limit was 85mph because that was what most of the traffic around him seemed to be routinely doing

I think the boy has got it!!

If the Government can't be bothered to change a ridiculous speed limit on the motorways then I feel less inclined to stick to their other limits.

If somebody talks :cense: to me some of the time I tend to think the rest of the time they are talking :cense: too.

I will continue at my own speed slowing down past schools and built up areas but doing 85/90 on the Motorways like most others.(except when my partner is in the car.....bit neurotic!!).

POST EDIT - Don't keep trying to bend the rules here either! :nono:

    9) Do not substitute letters within vulgar/obscene/forbidden words with punctuation marks or other symbols. Some Internet Service Providers (ISPs) parental software controls and School or Company networks still recognise many of the disguised words and may block access to the forum from their networks.

  5. Should we also deal with Speed Humps??

    Probable conversation with Martian??

    m= martian.....h = human

m- Now let me see if I have this right??

    h - OK

m - Your governing bodies spend billions of your eathly credits making uprisings in your carriageways to delibrately cause billions of earthly credits damage to your means of conveyancing.

    h - Yes....this is correct!!

m - You are indeed ...a very backward race.

"They peel them with their metal knives........"

    Am I losing it???

  7. Havin a good run at the moment!!

Only got three points......9 is the norm for me!!

Man....do I hate those speed cameras???There are loads of these new monitors going up warning you what speed you are doing round here.Invaraibly the person in front of me is in the red.

SO ....How come YOU LOT don't always get clobbered like me??

  8. My wifes mixer is 20 years old (Moulinex) and is still going strong doesn't do as much as the multichef but mixes the cream well and her cakes are fantastic.

    (I'll get my coat too)

    Ok chaps.

Think you missed the spirit of the post.....never mind.Your Moulinex obviously has sliders displays and buttons....or maybe you don't call that thing that you plug into one end of your amp a mixer where you are??

  9.

What a fine robust hardworking piece of equipment this is.

It never lets you down and has far more sliders buttons and displays than your fickle amplifier.

I've only ever had to ditch one and that was because I spilt half a bottle of smoke fluid in it.

    Please.....show your appreciation......For Your Mixer!!

  10. Jim

I'm really sorry to hear this.

I know I am the least security minded person on this forum. The other night I left my Estate Car with a lot of my gear in....unlocked??....AND with the electric windows DOWN on a public thoroghfare outside my house. It was an oversight.Nothing was taken.

My partner constantly critiscises me for it.Would never nick nothing of no-one and consider everybody else the same....OBVIOUSLY NOT!!

Don't get me wrong....I've had stuff nicked and know how painful it can be.I've always wanted one of them bins with a chimney on top for burning paper. I bought one six months ago......I was so proud. My neighbour said he saw some Romanies loading it onto their wagon for scrap.HEARTBROKEN ....you bet. This is the best bit.....It was still full of unburnt rubbish!! LOL

  11. I have only had one occasion where I have had to send a laptop in for repair, this was because it was still under warranty.

I removed my hard drive before sending it, I am paranoid about personal data being looked at.

I can understand some of these companies charging £100+ for plugging the SIMM back in as you do have to pay for the engineers knowledge, after all if you send it in for repair it means he must have more knowledge than you and somebody has to pay for that. However they should be clear about what they are charging and not just say they are replacing something to warrant their charges.

When I do repairs I make it quite clear that I will be charging (hypothetical figures) £50 for the first hour plus parts, if the parts are fuses or something cheap I don't charge for them.

    Jim

Jim.....is very good quick and fair.

Would recommend him to anyone in Yorkshire or Lancashire

  12. Has anyone ever on here ever had a booking from a Wetherspoons??

Do they have a total no music policy??

Their rise may be part of our downfall. How many of us receive follow on bookings from our local wet pub.

    "Its mi Missuses 50th Guv...."

If I wanted to throw a party in Wetherspoons what would they say??Yep.....BUT NO DJ.

  13. It looks like it was because the DJ hadnt played a particular track....when requested.

What gets into people...this has happened a number of times to me.

When I see the people next day......

Requester "I'm really sorry for grabbing you round the throat about Eminem Mate....I was really P@@@@@d.
