  1. This is surely the most obvious and best course of action!!
  2. You'd be better off with a Stressbuster book. We have all felt like this before our first big gig.Nausea....worry....the cheeks of your buttocks gripped so tightly together that you coudnt get a fag paper between them(all week!!). You will be fine!!IF you don't worry!!
  3. There is nothing wrong with having a daytime job as well??I work 30 hours a week Flexi.....Guaranteed income.I think I've died and gone to heaven. Well respected in my daytime job and able to offer a fantastic value service in the evenings and weekends. Yeah...I get tired!!A sort of lovely self satisfied tired....content in the knowledge that at 51 i'm living life to the full .....I still play football as well...by the way!!
  4. Its like losing your virginity!! You have mastered your EQUIPMENT!! You have made sure everyone else involved enjoyed it. You have a wonderful warm feeling when its done. AND its something you will never ever forget and will keep you warm in your darkest hour. I just made that up!!!!!!!
  5. Not sure my customers want the nightclubby sound/experience at my functions.Have you ever seen people in their 50's 60's AND 70's on Ecstasy??LOL It's not broken.....I ain't gonna fix it!!
  6. All I can say then is after 200 weddings and 350 birthdays hundreds of Karaoke and Quiz nights no-one has ever commented on the quality of my sound.....the volume yes.....as I sometimes have it a bit loud. I have used Skytec speakers and Pro-Sound amplifiers....not one single complaint..... It would decimate me if they did.I'd ditch everything and buy some of them Mackies and that.....Until then i'm gonna be lean and mean!!
  7. Lets not get into the Full Time / Part Time row Ray.I have a day time job and get clobbered for two sices of tax. Quite honestly I would be kakking myself now if I was full-time and £50.00 + an hour.
  8. Thats a much more realistic take on it Ray.There is Netto and Sainsburys.Sainsburys would be ill advised to look down on Nettos at the moment...who...as you know are doing quite well!! I'm up in half hour.....and i'm doing something very similair to Andy.So no banging his head on the wall is going to stop me!!
  9. Accept what you say vokf. However at £50 an hour in my domain you would be sat watching your deckbooth in your living room and using your camera for your holidays only. I must have it wrong then....despite working 4 nights this week!!
  10. Got to be honest vokf.....didnt think there was too much in my post that others would disagree with. I may be wrong???
  11. Methinks an experienced DJ would look at the venue and think... BISH BASH BOSH.......... Know what I mean??
  12. Judging by the amount of bookings I currently have I think I am qualified to answer this. I think they want..... Value....I average out about £30.00 an hour. Appropiate music....I am 51 and know how to judge an audience.I have a portfolio of about 50 tunes that I use regularly to kick off a reaction.I have also loaded onto my hard the drive 30000 indexed songs that I can get to using the search function. They want a confident but not over the top DJ. They want adequate sound and lighting. They cannot tell the difference between Mackies/Skytec....Impossibleds and Par Can
  13. I'd pay that to kick them in for him!! LOL Not the only one in the show making an impression out of being pug ugly tho??
  14. ADMIN EDIT Just got back from Morrocco and catching up with things on ITV player. Occassionally on TV there are some that like to add parody to our much parodied proffession. That ....I'm pleased to say is set not too continue..... I think that talentless people who pin initials to their name that suggest they may belong to our proffession should be given a wide berth. When they parade their lack of talent they do us no favours??
  15. Individually wrapped?? Need to replenish...prepared to release name of supplier??
  16. Brilliant.............AND THAT is the idea of this thread!!! Can I recommend Dreamcatchers for any electronics work in Yorkshire/ Lancashire?? Not breaking any forum rules??
  17. Boy.....can he replace laptop DC sockets......a lot cheaper than PC World!!
  18. And where are you my friend....for all blocked chicken soup nozzle enquiries??
  19. I had the pleasure of meeting another forum member this week.....i'll not embarass him by identifying him. It was obvious that this member had skills which may be useful to other forum members....outside but connected to the entertainment business. Thought it may be helpul to start a thread to signpost this.So if you have a particular skill put it here... I'm not shy ......I'll start..... My name is .......Martin My location is.....South Yorkshire Other Occupation.......Work for the Government in benefits (may not be much use to you). Particular Streng
  20. Already got an Advent wih the right programmes on it ...but fair point Dukesy. Been sunk without it...and I mean sunk!!
  21. Good point!! Realise that they will probably get broke regularly....still with 18 should last a few years. It was more a post to show the incredible value you can get on ebay. Any more examples.......Not on the Payroll.....Honest!!
  22. Thanks Sasha and everyone. The diagnosis was done in font of my eyes by a woman from PC world....looked to be legit. Dream Catchers (Jim) is going to do it for us very reasonable.
  23. Thanks for that McCardle....proffessional as ever. Haven't got the patience myself!! Anybody in South Yorks with the ability...I will renumerate of course....my risk!!
  24. We are a fun disco. We lke to involve the audience in what we do.Glo-Stix inflatables Karaoke Games. Searching through the Ebay wholesale and mixed lots has become a bit of a fetish for me. In the last week I have bought £350 worth of kidz toys for giving away at our Kidz parties (1/4 of our business). Just finalised a deal for 18 FULL SIZE Acoustic Guitars.Brand new boxed with a slight fault for £1.50 EACH. These will replace the inflatables we hand out as air guitars for the people at our functions!
