  2. I took a chance and bought 2 of these from WHYBUYNEW, with an extra 3 years warranty for 30 quid. Only used them twice but I LIKE THEM!

  4. Last weekend my Numark CD Mix2 decided to commit suicide at the start of a gig but that didn't prove too much of a problem, as I mainly use my laptop and most CD songs are on there anyway. But my reason for posting on here is I am thinking of buying a pair of Numark NDX400 Mp3/Cd players and was wondering whether anyone had any views on these before I shell out my hard-earned dosh. Thanks in advance peeps.
  5. I only stopped using my Citronic Avon 2 two years ago :shocking:
  6. That is true for the freebies but I think for the cost of around £10 you can just have the plain cards. Jerry

  10. Had a good night. The venue was a up-market pub in Wandsworth, easy access, friendly staff and 80s/90s themed fancy dress party. There were a number of interesting costumes, including an Indianna Jones, John McEnroe and a Debbie Harry lookalike (hubba hubba!) The only down side was I was trapped in a corner for 6 hours because of the sheer number of punters and my legs were crossed for the last 2 hours! Everyone was up for a good time and I had a few hand shakes and a couple of pecks on the cheek at midnight! The management were happy and I got two (hopefully) bookings out of it.
  11. Last night was not enjoyable for me. I had a wedding (which was booked last minute by another DJ) and the original start time was supposed to be 7PM. I got there at 5-30 and was told that I couldn't set up in the hall as they hadn't even started eating yet. I eventually was able to bring in my stuff at 8-40 and was asked how long it would take to set up. I said it normally takes up to an hour but I would be as quick as I can. At 9-05 I was asked how much longer and I said maybe another 20 minutes if I didn't put all my lights up. At 9-15 they turned off the lights at my end of the hall (suppos

  13. Thanks peeps for your contributions, BUT........... can one person put up the 3M truss easily enough? Would I need to lay it on the floor to join it together and then stand it up or would I be able to put both sides together and then join them in the middle, on my own?
  14. I would like a bit of advice from the Forum please. I am a one-man-band and currently use two T-bars to put my lighting on but I want to centralize my lighting overhead. I have a choice of this or this What I want to know is, I prefer to have the 3M truss stand but is it not too difficult to put together for one person and roughly how long would it take to put both up? If you have either, could you tell me the pros and cons of the stands. thanks in advance.
  15. Nik, I didn't have a problem with the playlist . I would play "Jedwood Sings The Cheeky Girls Greatest Hits" all night, if the client requested it, he's the boss. As contolling as his playlist was, I really wasn't that fussed about the music I had to play. It was the moving my gear around, as quickly as possible, that the main gripe was about. How often do you set up your whole rig, work for a bit, dismantle most of it, carry it off into another room, set up again, play for a bit more then dismantle it again, then carry it up a flight of stairs and set up AGAIN (and still remain minty fresh
  16. About 10 years ago I had a guy ring me TWO WEEKS before his wedding, saying that his Dj had let him down, would I be willing to work 8 hours, under his instructions. I said no problem but could he e-mail the special requirements needed and I would let him have a price. This is more or less his requirements- 3 PM- Play back ground music during meal 4PM - Provide mic for speeches 4-30- Move DJ equipment from hall into side room and provide music and games for the kids (chart music only) 6-00 Set up equipment in reception room UPSTAIRS! 6-45- Play set play list IN ORDER THAT IT IS W
  17. Hi guys (and girls), this Saturday I am doing a 6th birthday party, for a couple of hours. Although I have done these parties in the past, the last one I did was over 10 years ago (when my kids were small). Apart from obvious ones, like the hokey-cokey, is there any must-have songs for that age group? Although I have the High School Musical CD , i'm afraid I have never played it and don't know which the most popular songs on it are. Any advice would be appreciated. Jerry
  18. I was playing football one Saturday afternoon and got a bang on the head, which hurt like :cense: , but I knew I had to do my friend's wedding reception that night. As I was setting up for the do I chucked up on the dance floor (nice, eh?) and they had to call an ambulance to take me to hospital, for concussion. Luckily enough my wife was able to take over and she played the music for the night. (Obviously not as well as me!)
  19. I did a wedding reception in a small pub and the area I had to work in (and the dance floor) was about as big as my front room! People were dancing about 6" from my speakers ,because of the cramped conditions, and I spent the whole night just watching to make sure that they didn't get knocked over. Fantastic crowd though, who danced from the 1st song at 6-30 to the last at 1-00.
  20. Good news people (well for me, anyway) I HAVE GOT MY STUFF BACK!!!!! There were a couple of suspects and after they denied knowing anything about it for a couple of days, one word from the local nutter (who's sister is a friend of one of the birthday girls), they chose to leave the equipment by the gate and keep their knee caps in place!
