  1. Actually I do have the option to use an external monitor, and have used a second monitor successfully on the laptop. As to why I want to use a video/scart output and not a computer monitor, my current set-up uses a karaoke player with a scart out to a portable tv for the singer, and I use the AV out on the karaoke player for the pub's projector. For your information it is possible to get a different view on both screens on my laptop, Windows XP has allowed this option for ages. If you want to know how here goes: 1. connect your second monitor to the laptop. 2. Right cli
  2. Hi There Has anyone any experience using Compuhost karaoke hosting software. I've down loaded the demo and have been pretty impressed with it's features. Before I take the plunge and splash out some cash, I'm hoping someone can let me know how it works on the road. As my laptop is a bit old (4years) I'm gonna have to splash out on an external hard drive (£80~100), a PC to video/scart convertor (£40) and the software at about £100. Not including the time and efort to convert my cd's into zipped mp3+cdg. So all comments are appreciated. From the demo version, the Karaoke
  3. I've had a bprrpw of a mates Behringer powered mixer and didn't get on with it. I missed the convenience of the sliders. She's recently purchased a Phonic deck, but it seems to be stuffed with features she'll never use. Any suggestions on standard powered mixers as opposed to "pod" mixers. Something that's supplies good sound quality but doesn't go overboard with features. I have a Peavey mixer at the moment that's simple to use but doesn't have effects and isn't powered either. Hence the need to upgrade.
  4. One step at a time. I will be getting powered speakers in the future, hence the need for a pre-amp output But at the moment I'll continue to use my current passive speakers,
  5. Hi All I'm looking to get a new powered mixer in the next couple of weeks and would like some recomendations from you guys! First off are my needs; I need at least 7 channels (3 mono for mics and two stereo / 4 mono audio inputs). 300 ~ 400W RMS per Channel In-built Effects (vocal reverb etc) Pre-amp outputs, as I intend to upgrade to powered speakers in the future. Phantom Power. Compact and light. I've had a look around and the Behringher PMH 880S looks good value at around £220 inc vat. http://www.dv247.com/invt/24854 http://www.behringer.com/PMH880S/index.cfm
  6. Welcome http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/042.gif I tend to download tracks from .....* You can choose the quality (I usually go for 192kbs) and the price is very reasonable. The other advantage is that they get dropped into relevent folders sorted by artist and then album which makes it easy to manage. *Mod note: Not sure this site is a legal MP3 one (based in Russia) even though you do pay for them.
  7. Thanks Guys! Don't know how I managed before I found this forum! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/notworthy.gif
  8. Hi There This may seem like a stupid question, but do powered mixers come with non-powered outputs as well as powered? I'm looking to minimise risk of breakdowns as well as looking to upgrade my systems. I'm seriously considering the LEM D400 powered speakers, but I know they will be OTT for some of my smaller venues. That's why I'm thinking of keeping my LEM LPS10 passive speakers for use with a powered mixer (Behinger PMH660M or PMH880S as possible contenders). Behringer PMH880S If these give a pre-amp output I could use the powered mixer to drive the LEM D400's at the bigger
  9. I'm told that I pretty good at singing, and I've even had people come up to me during a show to ask when I'm up next as everyone else is crap! I don't think they've got their head around what karaoke is all about. Everyone has at least one fabulous song waiting to get out, karaoke is the way to find it! Isn't is usually the case that the loudest cheer is for the the poorest rendition, as long as you can see that they've really tried! I had a really surprising track bomb out on me, Don't Cha - Pussycat dolls. About 20 dancing, then empty!
  10. QUOTE (h8ytr @ Dec 19 2005, 01:53 PM) Gruff, why not buy some of my gear! I'm selling my Numark RM6 1U mixer and 1U vocopro DA1050 karaoke mixer, 6 mic inputs, echo, video in and out etc. Plus, why not go to PC from CD etc....I run my music, karaoke, powerpoint, visualisations etc all from the PC. I'll check out the equipment you've mentioned and let you know if I'm interested. thanks for the offer.
  11. Used the Mackies at a gig last weekend and they were awesome! 150 to 180 people who were very noisy, and I had to turn up the levels to around 50% of normal for my other speakers! The mackie deck was a bit overkill and very complicated, so I decided to stick with my Peavy. Used my lap top for the music which worked perfectly as well.
  12. I've used vistaprint for the past year, and they are excellent! Yes you do have to have their logo printed on the back for the free business cards, however you can pay a couple of pounds not to have this if you feel it is a problem. I run a karaoke show, and I designed a business card to replace the request slips that most people print onto A4 and cut out. It looks very professional a lot less hassle and at around £2.80 for 250 cards very economical. As the card is such good quality a lot of my regulars ask me to keep their old cards so that they can search through what they have sung
  13. Hi all, Here's an update, I picked up a ground loop isolator and took my stereo output from the laptop into the isolator, and took two mono outputs from the isolator into the mixer. It worked perfectly! Thanks for everyones help!
  14. I do karaoke, so I need three mic inputs, a karaoke player, and I'll be using a PC for the disco music. So I'll need a minimum of 5 mono inputs on any mixer I get. I'm borrowing a pair of Mackie Powered speakers and matching mackie deck from my aunt, who has recently given up singing on the circuit. If I like them, I may be asking her if she would like to sell them on.
  15. yeah, I had seen it before and was really impressed with your case and layout. I'm getting a new Mondeo Estate this month (from my day job) When I've got that I'm gonna measure up and try to make something similar. I might consider powered speakers as that would keep the weight of the main case down. Something for the new year I think.
