  1. Hi Guys, I have a gig this coming weekend that I can't fulfill due to me breaking a bone in my foot yesterday. It's a wedding in Bletchley Milton Keynes set up time is 3.00pm for background music etc with the disco going from 7.00pm until 11.00pm PM me for more details Cheers
  2. I'd go with that. As with most things, if you don't enjoy it, don't do it.
  3. Morning all, It's been a while since I posted on here (always read up on what's happening though). I'm after some software that I can use to catalogue my CD collection and then print for easy reference at gigs. I did have some software a couple of years ago, all I needed to do was put a cd in my disc drive, it'd be added to the database then I printed out the list by artist etc for reference. However, that won't work in a vista laptop (I've lost the disc anyway) so want to get something new. Any pointers would be great, obviously the cheaper the better, if there's any free sof
  4. I clicked South East but I'm Aylesbury based and cover Bucks/Herts and bits of Beds/Oxon
  5. Hi guys, I'm looking for an ABS 1u flightcase to house my KAM wireless reciever etc. Any ideas on where to get them? Thanks Chris
  6. Just getting back into the mobile scene after a year or so doing other things. PLI and PAT sorted but what about insurance for my equipment against damage or loss etc? Anyone have that type of thing at all?
  7. Hi Guys, Been a looong time since I posted here but hopefully someone can help me out. I've got a function coming up for which I need a couple of sound effects. First one is the 30 second clock from the TV programme Countdown (you know the one, Carol Voderman etc). Second is the really spooky tombstone type effect they used to play on shooting stars when the jokes were bad??? (Bell tolling, wind blowing etc). Can anyone help or point me in the right direction? Many thanks Chris
  8. 40th birthday disco last night (good laugh and good fun). Off to the O2 today and tomorrow to watch the ice hockey.
  9. What he said.No need to try and compete with people you will never compete with. He will get loads of bookings like others have said but the business will still be out there for you to get once he's fully booked (at £95 a throw I doubt he can be everywhere at once). That leaves you to go for the other customers out there, if your'e good then you'll get the repeat business and not him. Bit like being stuck in traffic, you can't affect it so don't worry about it.
  10. Some very good and valid points from all directions there so thanks for that. The DJ concerned didn't have a "brief" as such other than 1st dance etc and it was just his answer that prompted me to pose the question on here just to see what others do/don't play. Personally, for me, the cheesier the better seems to work for the gigs that I do.People enjoy themselves and I get a lot of repeat business from it.Having said that, I propably lose the odd booking as well as it's not to some people's tastes but if it keeps me ticking over then I'm happy.
  11. Morning, Wifey and I went to a friends wedding last Sunday at the Reid Rooms down in Ongar. Great day etc great place. They had a DJ for the evening (had very little equipment but sounded quite good) who struggled to keep the dancefloor going most of the night (as you do at these things sometimes, same old drunk best man dancing with mates etc). Anyway....chatting to the bride she asked if I'd go up and ask the DJ if he wouldn't mind playing some real cheesy stuff like cha cha slide and all that.I was quite surprised to hear him say he never played it and didn't even have it or any

Good job really as I don't think it was meant to be. We went to Wembley on Saturday and it was an awesome day, apart from Spinal Tap who to me seemed pretty pointless all the artists were pretty good. Even Corinne Bailey Rae (who I'd planned my food, beer and toilet break for) impressed me live. Snow Patrol, Chilli's and Razorlight were excellent live but Dave Ghroll and the Foo's totally stole the show....they were awesome. We noticed how late people were coming in as well, it wasn't until very late in the afternoon that the stadium looked pretty full.
  13. I never expect it but, if offered I almost always accept. Why? Because I'm on the same level as the client with the exception that I'm providing a paid service to them.It doesn't make me a servant and pretty much all of my clients treat me like a friend anyway.
  14. If so we'll see you there, it's only 5 miles down the road from us so we'll be ther around 2 ish I'd imagine.
