  1. How about.. Mark Richards Discos (could shorten to MRD or MR Disco) I think Mark's Mobile Music is OK, but is it a bit cheesy? Mark
  2. Hi All About time I started to do all this properly (and more importantly get paid!). I need a business name, so wondered if you had any ideas. My Name is Mark Richards I have thought of something like Mark's Mobile Music or Mark's Musical Madness or Mark Richards Music Roadshow or MR DJ Any other ideas, what do you think of mine etc etc. Thanks Mark
  3. Thanks for the advice. This gig is a bit different as it's for a family member, I will be talking to them about exactly what they want but the clubs a bit new and it's one of those "just do what you usually do" requests, wanted to know what you guys thought. So basically I'm there to add a bit of atmosphere to the evening, keep an eye on my gear and try and get some business cards out to the parents. Guess I could use the night to try out some new mixes when nobodys really listening! Mark
  4. Hi Guys Got a gig soon and it's for an awards night at a football club - fine. Howerver it's an awards night for the younger players. They will be between about 7 and 10 years old. Their parents will also be there to watch their kids get their awards. I am playing from 7pm till 11:30pm with an hour in between for awards. Question is, who am I playing for? The kids or the adults - my experience is that the kids will just run around no mater what you play.... What do you think? Thanks
  5. I would be interested in learning. Where abouts are you and would you be teaching mixing on CDs? Thanks Mark
  6. Hi ADS I think it can be done, but you would need a seperate sheet that had all the information on it. Perhaps a list of dates, the amount you took and if was you that performed or not. If you want you could email me an example of what you wanted (obviously make the data rubbish, I am not asking you to publish your figures!) and i'll have a look see if what I am thinking would work. No promises though! Cheers Mark :hide:
  7. Hi All I need to add a strobe light to my collection. I need a bit of information though...firstly I need to know what watt to buy, I am only lighting halls of around 100 people at the mo. Also - may sound a bit stupid - but how are they used?? Do the rest of the lights have to be off when it used? Should I only use it once or twice etc etc. Any help would be apreciated! Thanks Mark
  8. Hi Guys Thanks for all the feedback. Your right the £120 headphones are a bit much, but now you have confirmed that I should spend the money and get a good pair that is what I shall do! Brian - I am based in Essex, thanks very much for the offer it's very kind of you! I think i am going to give it a go myself first (I could come crying back later!), i like the challange, and if I do get it I can feel even better about it if I have done it myself - do you know what I mean?? However, on that score I would still appreciate a few pointers in the right direction on this thread if thats O
  9. Hi All I have been reading up on beatmatching CD's, sounds like it's just a case of practise. However the prolem I have is that everywhere says "Listen to the song playing, then cue the next song in your headphones and match the beats. The thing is i don't think i will be able to hear the song clear enough in my phones with them on one ear, and playing the 2 songs together on the headphones can just sound like a noise!! I think this is more to do with the fact that I am only using a cheap pair of phones....so can anybody recomend any headphones that are great for the mobile DJ?? B
  10. Hi All Another quick question for you. I have an unconfirmed gig in a couple of months. It is going to be on on eof those party boats on the Themes. Should I be worried?? Is there anything special that I need? i.e. special insurance, licencess etc etc? Thanks Mark http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thanks.gif
  11. Hi, I have a Pro Sound 400w (max power), Stero Amp and 300w (Max Power) speakers. These were bought in Maplins and are sold as a bundle. (www.maplin.co.uk for more info). On the last gig I done I noticed that LED's on the amp below the worf 'PEAK' were flashing. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif I have never noticed this before. The levels on the amp were only about half way (maybe a bit over) but the levels on the mixer were pretty high. Is it a bad thing when these lights start flashing? Should I be arranging my levels in a different way? http://www.dj-forum.c
  12. Don't know if this is the right place to post this, but here goes... I have a database of most of the tracks I have storing information such as artist, the cd it's on, the track number and where to find the CD. However as time has gone on, I have bought more CD's and not enterend the information, so it is now beginning to be very out of date!! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/oops.gif I really can't face typing them all up again! Does anyone know of some computer software that I can use that will catalouge all my CD's just by me putting them in the CD drive of my PC? Ide
  13. Thanks for the warm welcome! Firstly I would just like to say thanks for stoping the football riot that was about to kick off.....i'm a cricket man myself. There are some good ideas there which I will try, somebody mentioned mastermix, who/what/where is that? Paula - http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/huh.gif I am not thinking of spending the whole night doing it, I have been asked to play more modern music at the begging of the night, while people chat n stuff. So....I thinking about entering the 70's with a boom i.e welcoming people on the mic saying happy birthday etc...th
  14. Hi All I have a 70's and 80's themed 21st birthday coming up beg of Feb. Firstly does anyone have any words of wisdom for this, I think I am OK with the songs, although if you know of any that will blow them away let me know! I was after ideas such as things to say on the mic to try and bring a bit more fun to the night. Also I was going to try and play a couple of News clips from the 70's (Viginia Wade wins Wimbledon, Queens Silver Jub, Elvis Died etc etc) then I would play that over the top of an introduction to a song such as car wash to really get the night started! However, I
