Just a thought, but my 60 year old sister was brought up loving Motown & 60s music, so you may find that playing music from the 50s & 60s may be more relevant to most of the guests with a bit of 'rat pack' and you you should even be able to get away with things like Stevie's 'I just called to say I love you' And of course the war songs and sing a longs will suit the older members. But I've done some 50th wedding anniversary parties with the majority of people around 70, and the requests I received included Abba, Chris De Burgh, The Beatles and even Queen.

I tend to only play mixes when asked. I was asked for 'Dirty Dancing Mix' and Grease Megamix on NYE. Played both, went down well

I have Chanson D'amour by Art & Dottie Todd from 1958. Incidentally, it's miles better than Manhattan Transfer's cover.

There should be a button for 'Other' I listen to an American channel online most. KJZY Smooth 93.7 FM They play a lot of smooth Jazz and other smooth music. It's completely different to the stuff I normally play so I like to hear something different when I'm not working. KYZY Smooth

The first record I bought was 'I want to hold your hand' by the Beatles - I was 3 at the time and had my first record player by then. My big sister told me this. I can remember having records when I was little but I don't remember buying it. The first record I can remember buying was Knock on Wood by Eddie Floyd when I was 6!

.....and in order the bring the Gary Glitter debate to an end, I offer a playlist from a village Christmas Dinner & Dance I did last weekend. About 200 people all from the same village aged between 19 and 75, so there was something for everyone and a great night was had by all. I even got 3 cheers at the end! *=Requested Billy May - Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer Mambo (?) (2:39) Andy Williams - Almost There (1965)(2) (2:53) Boney M - Mary's Boy Child (1978)(1) (2:21) Bee Gees - Islands In The Stream [1986] (4:15) Cabaret Diosa - Merry Mambo Christmas [?] (3:08) Frank

Adding Video To The Disco

The plasma isn't so much of an additional option, as there are some rooms that the set ups in the photos won't fit into. Threrefore, the plasma offers a more versatile approach and can fit a relitively small area where the bigger set up in excess of 20 ft across and more importantly around 12-15 ft depth for the projector to work sufficiently -
During the period that DJU was down, I finally got the video upgrade added to the disco and used in earnest. I've had some fantastic comments about it and I've now added a 42" plasma to our list of equipment. This will give me a few more options when I'm offering our services. Anyway, click on the links below to see two pictures of the video setup we've used. The first picture has a conventional screen and the second one is using our inflatable screen. Forgive the quality of the pics, but they'll give you an idea of the set ups. http://www.jamesmurphyenterprises.co.uk/disco/di

It's my wife's 50th party this week - I've got to do the disco! 200 of our nearest & dearest coming - and I'm gonna be stuck behind the disco - how fair is that?

To save it getting scratched, put some door stops on two of the corners as well! -

I haven't used the board for around a year now, but the great thing about it was that I used to get people to text their requests in. So it got people using my phone number and I even got some bookings from it because someone kept it on their phone and passed it out as they thought it was a novelty to text requests in. Since changing my front, I no longer get text requests but I will have to think of a way to get people to start doing that again. -

Back in the day (early 2007) I used to have a sign which I painted myself. Although in one piece, it could easily have been cut in half and hinged. I did away with it as I felt it was tacky, but would have been ideal for what you're talking about. -
Wicked song! It's been played on Radio 2 a fair bit and it has a 60s soul feel about it and I'd love it to cross over.
