  1. Was it a business, dj related? I could well know him, small town and all that. Anyway why didn't you drop the Salsa cd's round, sorry but I'm not too impressed with your service!http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10209.gif I can understand about the scenery, this is great place to live, beaches, New Forest, ninety minutes from London, ferries to France just twenty minutes away, yeah it's good http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10140.gif http://planetsmilies.net/grinning-smiley-17116.gif
  2. I'm in Wimborne, about 30 minutes from Weymouth. http://planetsmilies.net/machine-smiley-7609.gif
  3. YES! YES! and thrice YES! I love mine and I've never had so many complimentary comments on any light I've ever owned.
  4. I'll tell you what ........ that was the answer I was looking for! That is exactly how I felt at the time, go to the top of the class! http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10001.gif http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10277.gif
  5. That is what happened, after about an hour I played UB40, he was dancing but about 50% of the floor left, I then did Bob Marley Is it love and that left 2 dancing! They were loving it but the rest thought I had lost the plot. http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10181.gif
  6. Looking at another thread about requests got me thinking. Last night at a 21st birthday jolly I was playing a lot of upbeat, high energy material and a chap comes up and asks for UB40 - Red Red Wine and The Supremes - Baby Love. Okay, two tracks I have no problem in playing and played at the right time are winners. However, there was no way I could fit them in within the next 10 to 20 minutes as I'm sure I would have lost the busy floor full of 20 year olds, Eric Prydz Call on me was on at the time of the requests! So, I had pulled them into the work area on Ots and were ready
  7. Maybe but there's something just catchy, hooky about it that I'm confident will get the young 'uns up and bopping. There are quite a few tracks around at the moment in that vein but hey if they fill my dancefloor!
  8. That would be extremely useful thanks. I do golf clubs, older parties and occasionally I'm asked for a few Salsa/latin tracks. If I could just put 15 to 20 minutes together it would be great. Much appreciated http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17211.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17174.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17203.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17211.gif http://planetsmilies.net/character-smiley-17174.gif

    Beyonce - Halo

Love it, love it, love it!!! Can see this being a big floor filler, people leaping up and down. http://planetsmilies.net/music-smiley-1306.gif
  10. You could try Kaleidescope in Parkwood Road Southbourne, BH6. They are not the cheapest but you can try kit and see lights etc. in action. Cheers Simon.
  11. Rich, I guess you are cataloguing your Ots library. If you are, do you know if you are uncertain (don't know) the actual year of a track then you can put an * in the release date. So, let's say you have a Little Richard track, you're sure it's from the 50's but you cannot pinpoint it precisely then simply put 195* in the release date section. When you then do a search of say 'rock and roll & 1950s' the track will be picked up, clever eh! Good old Ots.
  12. I've got one by Graham Betts ... Uk hit singles, it's up to 2006 but I don't know if there is a later edition. You could always use this ... http://www.everyhit.com/index.html Trust all is well Rich, keep meaning to phone you to let you buy me a coffee!
  13. I concur! It's a cracking light, I've never had so many positive comments or people watching it do its party tricks than any other light. Wholeheartedly recommend it!
  14. So somebody offers you £1000 for a two hour gig and you say "Sorry I can't, as you have a sound limiter installed!" Bit of a sweeping statement of yours if I'm not being too presumptuous. http://planetsmilies.net/music-smiley-7538.gif
  15. In a one word answer - no. I've found most limiters seem to have been set to react to bass. With the Bose system you don't need to pump out 'skip loads' of bass to get a great sound. I did a gig recently and all I could play was R&B for the whole night. About three feet in front of the L1's four people stood chatting away, I swear blind they didn't know they were stood by a speaker system! However people were still dancing away about 50 - 60 feet away at the far end of the hall. No problems with the limiter at all.
  16. well IF he is the dj it sure looks like he's got them rocking! http://planetsmilies.net/party-smiley-565.gif
  17. I used to work for United Biscuits and sold K P crisps, nuts and snacks to pubs, school tuck shops, catering outlets etc. I had a van and would visit weekly/monthly with the goods take the order and get the stock from the back of the van. Pubs would have to order at least 7 boxes of crisps to get any discount and the more they ordered the more discount they got. On numerous occasions I would be told they could get product cheaper from cash & carries than from me, bearing in mind I was working directly for the manufacturer. Bearing in mind they could walk into a c & c and buy just
  18. I live in the market town of Wimborne, Dorset with twelve pubs, one British Legion, one Conservative club and one night club. The night club is more than likely going to close in the near future and one pub is struggling seriously and many feel is also in it's death throes. There has been a rumour Weatherspoons could open in a disused 'job centre' building. Should this now happen it would cause chaos in the pub trade in the town, a potential nightmare. Wetherspoons are simply the Tesco of the license trade.
  19. Indeed thank you, I don't tend to stray away from the tried and trusted on NYE, guaranteed then to have a corker. Just adding another one to the melting pot ... Katrina & the waves ... Walking on sunshine
  20. Sorry Andy it's this Dorset air .............. nothing to do with the Christmas spirits, of course! http://planetsmilies.net/eat-drink-smiley-5008.gif http://planetsmilies.net/eat-drink-smiley-5163.gif http://planetsmilies.net/eat-drink-smiley-5179.gif http://planetsmilies.net/eat-drink-smiley-7820.gif
  21. For me the above is what it's all about. Big day and all that ... if the outstanding amount was £10 then what the heck, if it was £1000 that's different. So for me impossible to comment on, although I just have! http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10162.gif
  22. The thread is about how useful a compass is nowadays plus when did you last use one and what other rubbish did you get in your crackers? fairly simple I thought http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10091.gif
  23. We had a compass in one of the Christmas crackers, how unusual I hear you shout. Still it did get me thinking. When was the last time you used a compass? I've not used one for over thirty years when I was in the Army. Unless you you go fell walking or orienteering I can't see them being of any use at all. I'm expecting at least 8 pages of replies to this! http://planetsmilies.net/not-tagged-smiley-10097.gif P.S. Also what other useless things did you get in your cracker?
  24. Could be one of a few for me Nolans ... I'm in the mood Four Seasons ... December '63 Abba ... Dancing Queen That type of thing http://planetsmilies.net/party-smiley-551.gif
