  1. Howlin wolf - Evil Going on might be an idea English rose by the Jam too is quite a good acoustic number
  2. i would like it built into the mixer! not asking much am i lol
  3. That was my understanding of the usb mixers of this type that they are a stereo in and out for playback and recording via a computer, in an ideal world as i say i would like six balance mic inputs and say 2 usb ins for at least two deck software but alas my requirements are not widespread enough for a market to make such a mixer.
  4. I regularly have four singers and five would be nice plus me of course so six mics that leaves a few spare! the usb input interests me ,I would like a mixer with usb which then you can allocated four decks to four input channels on the mixer so four deck software programs could work with it albeit in mono for each channel but such a beast doesnt exist with six mic inputs
  5. right up my street is that mixer ideal for karaoke
  6. kind words but there's a world of difference singing the odd song on karaoke and doing a set with backing tracks and then a leap again performing with a band.I always wanted to see if i had that ability never been able to get a band that were serious enough to practice properly or even turn up to rehearsals ..they want to jam on the night and it'll be all right sort of attitude.. not my way at all ! I am careful of not trying to look a show off (sometimes i may not do as intended) or steal a show , so if i have singers who take themselves seriously i tend not to sing and get them up ..
  7. one of the reasons i am a kj.. i bring my own "band" and i can rely on me and there's no one to split the fee with apart from the tax man and her in doors. A lot of musicians talk a lot but when they get down to it they are often prima donnas or not as good as they think they are , want 20 min drum or guitar solos in every song and never turn up for rehearsal so i have given it a miss , its a shame as i feel i have a lot to contribute to the right band members.
  8. I have never been able to find dedicated , reliable band members , most do it for laughs and beer money and want to wing stuff with next to zero practice. I do like to be prepared for stuff , but I cant seem to find people who are like minded. I Have thought about it but went no where unfortunately.
  9. Now , now no need to take the extract the urine
  10. nobody's fault but mine was originally a blues song that Zeppelin re worked. Doesn't meet your "fun" criteria though ..bit depressing These might be worth a listen to Faith - George Michael Same jeans - The View Mr Rock n roll - Amy Mc Donald This is the Life Amy mc Donald
  11. I wave recently gone away from lots of moving gobos and flashing lights to more flashing colour washes this works well with karaoke singers so i flood the floor with four led par cans on an over head bar then have two lamp 250 watts effect gobo prism scanners , because the led are good for washes but not powerful as the scanners the scanners punch there shapes through the wash if you get what i mean . I am still waiting for the holy grail of DJ lights a powerful and bright enough and light weight gobo led moonflower a true replacement to the ancient datamoon. when a led with enou
  12. I leave all that to usher spiby & Co my accountant ..how easy is it to do yourself ? i am not very confident about these sort of things so i feel the £250 for there services i pay is good value and allows me to sleep at nights
  13. £500 for that lot , your giving it away minty !
  14. Mic Technique depends on Type of venue Type of function Type of music Type of audience your skill level There is no point being chatty at a outside rave in a field , there is no point being a radio presenter at a upmarket wedding by the same token just try getting work at a small pub with cheeky locals if all you do is play music, try keeping a karaoke residency if all you do is introduce singers. Different types of gigs need different skills and different levels of mic use no one wants a chatty dj in the wrong environment but everyone wants a dj with a bit o
  15. Really good introduction! really looking forward to learn from your posts , love the way you have adapted and changed over the years and how the bug of djing drew you back in , you sound as passionate as when you first started ..nice one ..and welcome
  16. like any business its success is dependant on supply and demand. Is there enough of a market for you to supply only rock music ? will you be asked to compromise and will you? are you prepared to take hours and hours of abuse from aunties wanting motown and to get that rubbish off. are you prepared for empty dance floors when audience members are invited to there family or mates birthday to find its a rock only disco and they didnt know. I would say its a great idea but like any specialized sector needs to be marketed really well and clients need to inform guests what sort
  17. This is very true , i have experience of making homemade MP3+G tracks The software is not cheap and extracting the audio is near on impossible to do properly , if instrumental versions are available you can make really good versions , the software to make mp3+G is not cheap and takes ages to figure out so vokf's idea of making a video with text is easier for a novice but if you intent to play them publicly you will be in breach of copyright.
  18. sounds like some sort of custom gobo projector like ETC Source 4 zoom
  19. Welcome to the forum from a fellow Manc. at the ex pat bars have you tried a Old Skool night? just a thought I remember a Hitman and her episode filmed at Discotec Royale In Manchester... proper old skool I believe a DJ called Steve worked there at some point sounds like hard work breaking into the Spanish market lots of respect to you for sticking at it can't be easy . Do you have a website that appeals to both markets for your function work and residencies? Just a thought it might help breaking into those markets. Do you do Spanish Karaoke ? always interested in
  20. While i do have this sort of thing in my contracts and it is a very wise and intelligent precaution to not only have it in your terms and conditions but also be prepared for such eventualities.. I will donate £10 for every power outage in 2011 that is caused by this industrial action or indirectly by the reduced working hours that causes problems with my disco services..that's how worried I am about it. far more to worry about in my personal opinion but still nice to have a heads up so we can all prepare thanks Dukesy for the info
  21. no private bookings but i have a residency , will play it by ear if the consensus is everyone will be out to party probably will be a late one
