  1. Not even close! And how would that make any sense in the context of the post?????? He takes over once or twice during the evening, that's all
  2. You're 100% correct! In fact there are several people with this problem here.....but God help you if you comment...'cos you'll be smacked over the knuckles/edited/censured.... (Even when you're one of the mediators - as I was) :damn:
  3. Garbage - I think I'm Paranoid
  4. Easy! Take an apprentice/Roadie with....they'll enjoy the experience! It's what I do.....
  5. US5 - Maria (Didn't want to make it toooooo easy!)
  6. Dexys Midnight Runners - Jackie Wilson Said
  7. Aaaah.....those were the days, and if you go back to Mr. Blackmore's previous place of work, you get: The sometimes brilliant......DEEP PURPLE!
  8. Brass Construction - Movin' One of my all time faves!!!!!!!!
  9. Oh I don't know...looks to me like Tony James or Johnny Thunders..... And if my memory serves me right....isn't JT dead? I don't think TJ is, but I could be wrong. To many of the younger participants...they were members of a (short-lived) band called Sigue Sigue Sputnik which became known in the late 80s, and who came together from a variety of bands on both sides of the pond! Question is...did SSS ever play the venue???????
  10. Elton John - Philadelphia FREEDOM
  11. No, yours is still acceptable. It is advised to get a photo license, but as I understand it, not a legal requirement. I lived in Denmark for many years and got a fold over danish license. When I decided to come back to the UK, I asked the police for me UK license. They had destroyed it (correctly, apparently). I have a danish license with my picture on it and my address as being somewhere I last lived 12 years ago! BUT, DVLA said that it's not a problem, it's a Euro license and valid until I hit 70. The police wanted me to change it, but I realise now that it would be foolish (I went
  12. Radio - ALWAYS! Mega useful for: Spontaneous karaoke, walking/talking the crowd, party games etc. etc. Always have a leaded mic just in case, but never been necessary!
  13. Holly Valance (Or Fish) - STATE of mind
  14. Apart from the fact that I don't (personally) know any (although I know who they are in the area), I think that this would be one occasion where I wouldn't help. The reason for this being that the Dodgy Daves in my area are Beer Money Berties! £50 all in and 'wot you see is wot you get' (if you're lucky and they turn up at all). I would say that the more these people let themselves down, the less likely that clients are prepared to take the chance. I will always, but always, in a situation where I am unable to take a booking, beg the client to be wary of simply looking at the fi
  15. I'm not prepared to discuss it further for the (amongst others) above reason.... Most of you (not a new phenomenom) don't read the posts properly. It's almost as though you catch a buzzword and ignore the rest! I specifically said 3 rigs, and a sane brain would conclude 3 rigs working (as mentioned), and not 3 rigs, one operator...which one shall I use tonight?!!!!! As regards to reading posts properly....the post about the Beach Party this coming weekend is a fantastic case in point....Beach Party...lots of lists with Beach or Summer etc in the title ?????????? Read up on wha
  16. This really will be the last word! I did mention earlier that PERSONALLY I would prefer EV. It may well be that a life long love for EV products tips my hand in the end, and I end up with systems that are interchangeable. The point being that I am/was talking about 3 distinct and different rigs...NOT 1 system that can be 'grown' as necessary! Oh, and I keep talking about Kws here simply because it is a prime indication (and universally accepted) of the level of power that I expect to furnish......SPL is a constant, in that I could mention an spl of 130db,but it wouldn't give you any
  17. Hey, this 'discussion' isn't continuing past here...it's really not THAT fixed (as yet) If I go the line array system, then there are several (UK & European) manufacturers who can help. My only concern would then be sound quality/ease of use. It may well be that HK or Pro Audio might be the better bet, and before you start...I know that we are not talking arrays here! Large scale....it would probably be one of the German producers. They seem to do this better. I won't be drawn more specifically than that.....
  18. Personally I would be looking to EV, but it may well be that there are other producers that could help. Certainly EV for around 2kw, Perhaps an array system for the 5kw, and a full blown active/passive system for the 10 (depends solely upon mass/weight!)
  19. To all of the above: 1. Been around for 50 years...and started DJing at 12(ish) 2. The bar/bistro market is NOT what we're talking about (in fact, we're not even talking permanent indoor sites) 3. Lighting/effects to match 4. A greater ROI than your average party jock 5. A client base who would demand considerably more than would be considered the norm 6. No you're right KW aren't a measure of anything....it's used to indicate the difference in the type of venue that would be used (But if you really weren't aware, then it stands for kilowatt(s))! Look, the fact that I menti
  20. As and when! Having said that, I'm seriously considering moving up and out of my current market (£2-300+ for parties). I really want to 'go large' ???? Upwards of 7kw with everything to match! Perhaps even eventually offer 3 differing types of set : Standard 1.5-2kw, 5kw and the biggy at around 10kw. And before you all start.....the market is not only there...it's (relatively) unpopulated and...lucrative! (think double and more to the above figures)
  21. Yeah...sorry. I was actually thinking about the Specials and Ghost Town at the time, and because of my advanced years....simply got confused!! :aa
  22. I guess the recession song that always sticks in my mind - apart from being one of my favourite tracks, must be: The Specials - One in Ten And we must be fast approaching that figure!!!!???? Again! And although I'm no great fan - surely the Hon. Mr. Billy Bragg must have recorded several tracks that could be applied here!
  23. The worst ones for me personally have always been the 12-16 yo parties, at least in this part of the world. I always, but always am in advance with tracks, having a very good source of tracks that are due for release up to 3 months away. This 'lovely' age group are always asking for some of these tracks, and seem to be well in advance of charts and clubs (you wouldn't think so, as they are obviously too young to get into them!), and it's not always possible to source ALL the upcoming tracks. Always makes me feel inadequate somehow....even though anyone else wouldn't even have a
