  1. Well, it just goes to show how the mind works! Personally, and I have (although on the analysis/IT side) been around marketing for a while, I would've gotten away from the happy, jolly generic etc roadshow names. Maybe thats a location thing, or maybe just aiming at different markets, I don't know... I do know that one or two members have mentioned their reservations as to my roadshow name (especially the distortion bit), but experience tells me that (by and large) an off-beat, non standard name will be more easily remembered than the one that does (apologies) sound like plenty of ot
  2. I too use an external Audigy 2 usb Sound card (ZS version). Beware of one thing though: Check that your laptop has a PCMCIA slot and NOT a PCI Express. As far as I can see (having bought a PCMCIA ZS card, and now being unable to use it (OFFERS ANYONE?)) there are NO Express soundcards as yet.
  3. I just thought I'd spread the word, and there's no need to panic (Mr. Mainwaring)! I had a little surprise under system testing yesterday. I use (and pay for) Napster for most of my music d/loads. However, any Napster track yesterday came up with the message: Please acquire license! I had always wondered how Napster state that you can only use their music while you pay the monthly bill when (being an IT person of many years) I know that unless they physically come round and remove 'their' music, they've no chance. The reality is: I hadn't had this particular hard disk hooke
  4. QUOTE (Chris_Pointon @ Oct 2 2006, 09:56 AM) Everybody needs to get established and we all started from gig no1. Occasionally we may need help with playlists, maybe we have a specialised gig where we need some general pointers on an entire playlist made up of a genre which we have, but are not overally familiar with, but the more general "What music do I play at a Wedding" questions are okay and welcome, provided its in an effort to build and gain experience and not because they have an actual Wedding in the next few hours!. I agree wholeheartedly with this. For instance, in the
  5. I'm glad you managed to find the track you were looking for...... I would question whether 'funk' substitutes well for the word really used in the song!? Near enough, I suppose!
  6. Just a thought and I may be way off base, but..... Natalia : Do you wanna funk with me And probably heard in Spain or on the islands! Sorry, can't find a dload site for you
  7. Not wishful thinking, I'm afraid! I just hadn't been into the profile part of the system (probably an age thing: can't maintain a thou.... for more than a few secs) I must admit (something I forgot to mention when writing the above) times have changed BIG TIME. Remembering what it was like to lug those rotten LP and single cases around, I jumped at the chance to replace all that (or cds) with 1 laptop (with software) and attendant external hard disk (with muzak). Quicker, easier to carry and do you know: the tracks don't get scratched, warp or removed by happy customers! Abou
  8. I think I spy another happy customer from Terralec nr. Sarfend. Yes? I bought all (95%) of my gear there, and I must say that on balance their prices are pretty good. Don't you agree? I hope everything goes well for you. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/cool.gif Roy B. Homepage
  9. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/attentionwhore.gif Hi everyone. I guess I'm the new kid on the block! Except for one or two things: No-one would ever describe me as a 'kid', and I might be new (as in this century), but I worked big-time in London and the South-East over 25 years ago (gives you a clue to some kind of age. I decided to re-enter the arena after having attended several parties earlier this year and seeing the level of professionalism! Thats not meant to be in any way a big headed (or condescending) statement. Its just an observation. Anyway
