I have loads of intrests - My main one being computers (and my job) which helps - from that comes my love of gadgets and Dj'ing.I'm a born fiddler and can stand the thought of sitting in a pub wasting away over the weekend. My music taste vary too, mainly being into funky house (been into house music since 1988)
  1. Welcome Roy, I miss the good old vinyl. Although heavy (you should see our CD cases - lol) Vinyl was easy to stand up and a lot easier to search through. I could flick through around 50 records in about 30 seconds. Knowing your deck spinup speed. O the old times come flooding back. One of our first desks was two BSR record players stuck together. I neally wet myself when my mate try to cue the record up with the old BSR decks as you could'nt spin the record back with the play switch on. The secret was to switch the deck to stop tring not to make the record jump.
  2. Ive lived here for 21 years - and i've never heard of the marine ballroom - how ever there was one ballroom in a field that got demolished and turned into the local council offices. maybe it was that. I'll ask around.
  3. I've been looking for a upgrade for our long in the tooth but forever faithfull DENON 200F MKI. Yes thats right MK1 in perfect working order apart when their damp after a steamy party - (you know the ones where the walls are dripping) As this is a hobby, the Industry standard of CDJ1000 are out of the question. However the Pioneer MCX 3000 is. Has anyone used this unit and is it any good for mobile work?
  4. Hiya Charlie - Good luck in your new venture. My advice - get some cards printed. Always end with a really good tune (fast tempo) without a fade ending and watch them come up to you at the end and thank you - get the cards out tell them to tell their friends. Its amazing what word of mouth can do. (remember people with drink only really rememebr the last hour of the party) Jon http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/thumbup.gif
  5. Hi there, My name is John, I've been Dj'ing now for 17 Years around the towns of Evesham and Pershore in Worcesterhshire. I Dj with three other good friends who treat it as a good night out so its more of a hobby than a career. Bri who our MC and Crx who's our lighting and Sound technician and other DJ. We've had many members who as time has gone by have come and gone. One of the best now Dj's in a Reading Nightclub. (lucky him) But he did start with us when he was 14. I've always loved music and one of the earliest memories i remember is playing my dad's beatles records with a rolled up
