  1. Yeah, Most other makes cant seem to manage the constant work that they have to do I fitted a "well known make" in a club at the beginning of the season, They lasted just 17 nights. In the pub, i run a laptop only in the club its pioneer cdj 800's - all the dj's love them and they have never faulted once. I have an old set of 800's mk1's and they have lasted 4 seasons! 6 months - 14 hours (average) a night over 4 seasons now my maths is rubbish but ................... thats alot of use Anyways Back on topic.............
  2. I must admit - Ive not heard of alot of them, but google varifies the names as big boys in the djing world. In Greece, pioneer is a leader in the clubs as they seem to be the only units that can withstand the heat and work for 6 months a yea for 14 hours solid everyday! Weve tried loads of other makes int he pub and club, but still nothing beats the pioneer. Even the laptop has outdone other well known makes..............
  3. Usual for me this weekend KARAOKE! Tune to play Paul Simon - Call me Al
  4. Sadly over the last week or so ive had to eject many people from the club. Not job a like doing - Once outside they tend to find it fit to start a fight - Welcome to tourism.............
  5. Most laughable story, I enjoy reading these snippets of news. Thank you Dukesy
  6. Ive worked abroad, and now live In Zakynthos Greece - Making the move to live out here permanantly. Entertaining abroad isnt the easiest, but its loads of fun. The crowd are in a different mood to entertaining them in the UK. One thing to decide is what you want to do Club DJ General Entertainer etc etc Working hours and times... I work for the full season 6 months - 7 days a week I arrive at the pub at around 8pm and leave most evenings around 3am. I do all the entertainment at the pub - Disco/Karaoke/BINGO!/Quiz Nights/Stand Up/Fancy Dress Ive been
  7. No rain here Sir, - Infact its 32o'c and rising ( oh and its only half 9 in the morning ) :hide:
  8. Kind off on a permanant holiday as i live in Greece, Spend most of me days down the beach, then work in the evening. I am looking forward to spending christmas with the family this year back in the UK, But wont stay for long as its bloody expensive.
  9. Indeed i think you need to look at the way you take a booking. Not asking the "important" questions at the time of booking, Is not a practical approach. Good Luck
  10. Yes true, But as stated by yourself in other threads/posts. Its not worht the risk, as it can taint the proffesion and your business/image. I understand being able to play a wider variety of music, but you still need to have a firm understanding.
  11. Before we go any further, i would suggest a good talk to the "soon to be happy couple" and explain that its not your classed area, After that, look at the playlist they provide and also the advise from members here. Taking on a gig, when your not ofey (sp)with that genre or type of music, can be a bad move, not only for yourself, but for the proffesion in general!
  12. Jeese, youve not had much luck with this ere super dooper bit of kit have ya? Im sure its something simple - Gary will explain.....
  13. Oh - Ok Well Greece is well behind and dont thing they like the EU business and the likes I wont worry then. If i was still in the UK, I still wouldnt worry, Sounds like a load of old tripe to me. Dont believe they'll be able to enforce it anyways.
  14. TOP TEN things you should not say to a DJ By Unknown Author 1. PLAY SOMETHING GOOD...SOMETHING WE CAN DANCE TO! The DJ has to play for more than one person...so what you hate may be another's favorite song and EVERYTHING played here can be danced to one way or another. 2. WOULD YOU PLAY SOMETHING WITH A "BEAT" BE SERIOUS! We know of NO songs played in a club that don't have some sort of BEAT! 3. I DON'T KNOW WHO SINGS IT AND I DON'T KNOW THE NAME OF THE SONG, BUT IT GOES LIKE THIS.... PLEASE don't sing for the DJ. They have to put up with smoke fi
  15. Last night at the pub - a young lady wanted to sing as soon as she walked through the door, I had around 40 tickets in already. Anyways, she offered quite a bit - Being a gentleman i declined and let her sing anyway. In Greece - Its the norm to be offered allsorts.
  16. Is this just a UK thing?
