  1. Correct as it stands at the moment, but even though it's not a legal requirement as yet there are also a lot of venues down this way that stipulate to anyone booking a party in certain places that the disco or entertainment being booked must have PAT & PLI . I was also asked by a few venues to provide details of my PAT/PLI to the hotel before i was allowed to set up !
  2. If your on a budget i think its been widely debated here that the Class D stuff is excellent for little cash. I'm going to stick my neck out here and state also the Soundlab range have improved immensley over the last couple of years. I run a pair of 15 tops and 15 inch bins Active / Powered (Studiomaster VPX range) on my main show. But about 10 months ago we bought a pair of ACTIVE /POWERED Soundlabs for samller gigs / 2nd show/ backup Here http://www.djkit.co.uk/product.php?id=1175&cat=237 http://www.discostudio.co.uk/images/shopimages/1558.jpg Got to be honest

    Time Warp

I play the Mixed version (Either DMC or Mastermix cant remember) this is a good version as it features BOTH versions Richard O Breins and Damiens plus a load of special effects ! always goes down well tongue out icon
  4. Looking Good Nik, Would be good to see some pics with the lights in action. On a seperate measure, this is my Bug bear (not related to you Nik just generalising) i have looked at various disco websites and lots of us put pics in our galleries of customers dancing the night away and having a good time etc. BUT hardly any pics of their disco in action (lighting etc). I think this is a BIG letdown for the potential customer and we need to get pics of those rigs on your sites guys ! (Sorry to stray off topic !)
  5. Tend to agree with Jim here. Its all accord where your market is targeted, if you mainly cater for 18's & 21st's then yes i should imagine mixing is important, but for wedding / corporate work its not needed.
  6. Hi Silver what about something like this to start you off, will run on a 233 mhz computer and cheap with the famous OTS reliability ! http://www.cdscratch.com/download/
  7. Have a Good Un Big Fella ! ...... The Big 50 is looming !!!!! :dan+ju: :dan+ju:
  8. Think the Guy is forgetting other areas of the service we provide 'Professional Presentation' My logo is 'Professionally Presented Music For Every Occasion' It has been for over 27 years Any Muppet can stand behind a lightbox or black cloth and play music in any format (not a pop at anyone just trying to put it into context). But my shows (and many others here) are all about Professional Presentation (Lots of Microphone work) and could'nt give a damn if the toons came out of a wind up gramaphone. Hence i justify my fee by my presentation. So when the muppet has
  9. Sorry anal :moon: You are really talking the above ! :moon: Not going to get dragged into and re-open the boring debate regarding PAT & PLI BUT... yes you should display your approved logo's on your website, we talk about the role of the Dj progressing to professional status and eliminating the cowboys within our industry, so by displaying your logo's it gives the potential customer piece of mind. It can also mean the difference between sealing a booking or not, just another point i'd like to add, a few venue's around my area insist on PAT & PLI and need to show certifica
  10. Sound advice Andy ! I too can remember running a H&H 100 Watt mono PA Amp and managed to get by, before upgrading to a H&H 150 WATT mono amp, along with the FAL console etc. Like Andy states no the amp you have isnt going to blow people out of the water... But if its a family party and get those speakers high enough you should get by.... but dont expect miracles. Everyone's got to start somewhere and may your hobby develop.. 'GOOD LUCK'
  11. Sam here... Pretty much the same as Nik. Traditional style (big on Microphone presentation) kind of Dj. Have used OTSDJ for a number of years and serves me well, no beat mixing needed..
  12. I Would go with the B&Q theory, i know a guy who was quoted silly money for chrome speaker poles, so went along to B&Q and bought a chrome 12 foot pole, the type they attach to tv aerials (when they attach them to an outside bracket to get them up high) and cut them into 2 X 5 foot lengths and they look fab, The pole was approx £9.99 from B&Q
