  1. hi, I have always run of a powered setup for mobile work and personally swear by it. The guy's are right about the fact that if one of the speakers goes down you still have the others to carry you through. Having tried out several sets of powered speakers , ( wharfdale xvp-x 15", carlsbro gamma's , and more recently a set of Mackie SRM450's) , I would say the wharfdales are the best buy, due the the sound quality , robustness, reliability and the fact you can pick them up now for roughly £240 a speaker if you shop around. For peace of mind you can also bypass the internal amp
  2. I have had similar problems whilst trying out PCDJ , all I will say is "STICK WITH VDJ !! ", it's like the person who has been driving around in a Ferrari for most of his life, complaining that the skoda he has just bought aint as fast and wondering why ???
  3. correctamudo !!!! However , atomix have always has "teething problems" up until V.4.2 with 'remote devices' (usb controlers) , they still aint figured out how to make the bcd2000 compatible even though they added the option to enable it in the said 'remote control' tab. If it is a legit version of VDJ then to upgrade is free , and that should solve the issue, if not then ...........................?????????
  4. ok i was gonna go anyhow, as long as i won't be critisised for not brining the bass bins (cos they won't fit in car if wife is coming ), I'll do it ! how shall I pay ?
  5. umm !!! , which version you running off buddy ??
  6. umm dunno thought SAM was mainly for braoadcasting purposes not live work will have to check it out
  7. He's right prisons are going to be exempt and residential homes for the elderly, the only other exemption is the parlimentary bar in the house of lords (its classed as been owned by the monarchy) !!! odd that is'nt it !!
  8. Well I'm unhappy about all this for two reasons : 1). I smoke, and I love to smoke whilst I'm DJ'ing (alot !!!!) 2). For my day job I'm a rep for a tobacco company (seriously !) This is not good as you can inagine , I think the only solution is to stop smoking and be a full time non smoking DJ, as my day job will probably become extinct within 12 months !!!
  9. correct me if i'm wrong though 'numark cue' is a cut down version on virtual dj bundled with their usb controller . ? Yes You are Correct in one sense, when I'm doing a karaoke gig i let it run auto because whilst i'm ferreting about for discs I realy don't have the time to concentrate on the mixing side of things with the interval music. But If I'm doing just a disco gig my use the Hercules DJ controller and do everything manual. can't really see the difference between that and usuing cd's really.
  10. More bookings this year thank god as finally we have our adverts in the correct section of the Y Pages and Thompson Directories. I left it to my business partner last year and they ended up in the 'entertaiment promotions' sections ........... the phone calls from DRAG ARTISTS wanting auditions have almost stopped now !!!
  11. I see...... just waiting for the long awaited launch of the BCD3000 myself, my wallet is twitching in anticipation !!
  12. This is all very well, but what if the laptop goes down during the gig ?? Gruff, surely you are going to have to take some kind of back up sytem with you ? ( either your cdg player and original discs or another laptop and hard drive with duplicate database) ?
  13. I still got a few of these ........... my god they are so cheesy !!!
  14. Have any of you guys tried using Atomix Virtual DJ yet ?? If so how do you rate it against other DDJ software ? I've been running off it now for three years but I am wondering whether there is anything else on the market that out performs it in a live performance enviroment, I've dabbled with 'Mixmeister Fusion' which is ok if you are going to sit down for hours before the gig and pre structure youre set, and I've tried PCDJ which for me was a little on the primative side. Any Comments or advice ??
  15. Me too !!!! need to find this branch that's knocking them out at that price and i'll buy another two or three !!!
  16. 'Mixmeister fusion' will allow you to do that and burn it staight to CD It automatically assigns the track markers. you can get a free trial verion from their website. I may add i am not sure about the legality issues but I do know that 90% of the clubs in my area run off 'mixmeister' and they have had no problems.
  17. I always take a backup laptop or if doing a karaoke gig three or four of what I call 'emergency discs' , which are basically premixed tunes from different decades.
  18. well i just downloaded it and its worked for me , nice one !
  19. Hello and welcome to DJU, We've been running Disco / Karaoke set ups now for the last three years or so and what I found personally to be the most expensive part of starting up was actually buying the CDG discs in the first place. Each disc holds between 12 - 18 tracks and costs £12 - £ 17, realistically a half decent collection to start off with would need to be 1000 - 2000 tracks so the initial cost of getting the discs alone would be in the region of £1600 !! ..... But fear not as technology has moved on !!! There is a now a format Known as Neo+G and one individual disc c
  20. Cheers for the welcome guys, I feel at home already lol.
  21. I agree with stephen , MRD Entertainments does sound a professional name . If you were to go with 'MR Discos or 'MR Entertainment' etc they could be misread as 'Mr. Discos' or 'Mr. Entertainment' etc which may sound a little on the cheesy side.

    One Track

'you're more than a number in my little red book' - the drifters, always seems to go down well, or 'already over' - orson, as the last track of the night.
