i have a wedding coming up, thank goodness i have a meeting with bride before hand as i have recieved a list of songs they want played, some are ok, but think that faitless - god is a dj and dizzee's bonkers might not suit the more mature guests

hi folks
just got myself a new laser at the weekend, the equinox polaris , twin output 270mw green and purple. having had purely green lasers in the past, i was recently working at a club which has purchased the polaris, as soon as i had switched it on the purple beam caught my eye and i thought i want one. So after researching price and tech info managed to get one at a gd price from atmosphere sound and light in aberdeen.
If anyone is looking into purchasing a laser, for a budget price, of £200 this laser is def worth the money, it comes with good stong build quality, full dmx, laser key for safety, built in sound to light and excellent shapes on auto mode.

Hi when i first started out i did the business card and flyers, sent then to local, hotel, pubs, private clubs, schools, etc i must admit it took a while to pick up sme work as people had never heard of me before and by using existing discos they new what they were getting without taking a risk over somebody new, you mite find it slow building up gigs in first year but it will come

I realise there is a sticky about deck stands but I can't say it really answered all my questions.
I'm looking at buying my first deck stand with overhead goal post and i'm lost in options.
I've been browsing online and seen the various Kam, Rhino, Giraffe and Ultimax stands and they all look very similar indeed except of course in price. Is there a big difference between them in build quality etc?
I'll probably usually be running 2 barrel scans, 2 moonflowers and maybe a revo4/laser depending on the gig so i'm thinking I need the overhead to be at least a dual bar or trusslite?
I run a passive PA and will have 2 amps on the lower shelf so that should add to stability.
I've heard Ultimax is the best but i've seen a Rhino Stan12A (4ft stand with dual bar) at just over a hundred quid that seems to tick all the boxes and is about half price of the equivalent Ultimax. Is it half as good?

hi, I have a prolight 4ft deck stand with star cloth, i was suprised at how much lights it takes, the most i have had on it is 2 moving heads, 4 acme falcons, 2 impossibleds, 1 laser and 2 par cans, and i could have still got a couple small lights added at the end, they dont come standard with shelfs, just use mdf pannels and bolt them throught the rails, i have also placed amps on bottom shelf personally feel this balances the weight a bit, build quailty is good for the price

Hi all
About to invest in a powered 15inch sub to back up the Mackies. I intend to place the sub under the girraffe stand, which is covered by a star cloth. The height available between the floor and the first horizontal bar of the stand is 53cm. This means either buying a 12inch sub or putting a 15inch sub on it's side.
I could remove the girraffe stand bar leaving 3 in place instead of 4, but I don't want to do this.
Are there any issues in running asub on it's side?
Hi i was using a 4 ft stand at weekend with sub under the bottom shelf it fitted in perfectly and sounded great behing the star cloth, like yourself i also use mackie tops, the sub i use is a yamaha msr800 watt powered unit, it is a 15 inch unit but the cab is compact for being powered

I find it funny as hell that all of Englandshire grinds to a halt with a few drops of snow, it almost makes national emergency status yet up here its been snowing for several days on and off and not a mention. Bred hardy up here ye all see.
have to agree with scotty, u havnt seen snow yet, i was out last friday nite finnished 3am an took 2 hours 2 do 60 mile journey, with snow and freezing fog the car was reading minus 9

Just wondered whether 1 decent laser is enough or if people are using several on their rig?
i personally just use one decent laser, did look at buying a few cheaper ones but thought it would be better going for 1 gd one, the one i use is a eu lights gx 100, dont know if you still get them but having seen some cheaper models there is no comparison

hi this is what i do, come out of mixer into numark di 4, which powers 2 passive subs, i then use the thru on the amp to send signal to a powered yamaha msr 800w, then connect 2 mackie 450's from the thru on sub then daisy chain on a second pair of mackies, never had any problems with sound quality
