  1. Did not know there was a twister 5, thought the mk 4 was the latest.
  2. I dont have any insurance because i only do about 2 mobile gigs a year so dont think it would be cost effective. Everything else i do is in venues with their own equipment, so as far as i am aware, its not my resposibility if there is an accident involving it (unless of course i threw a turntable at someone http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sterb188.gif !).
  3. I dont do much karaoke myself but a friend of mine does. He uses Cavs players for the songs, hard drive based units bit like an mp3 player but for cdg. All the discs he buys are ripped onto the unit and stored on its hard drive. Saves trying to find discs in wallets (the tracks are accessed by typing in a 4 digit code) and carrying round hundreds of expensive discs! The units are expensive but work really well and make life so much easier when doing the night. For mixers he uses Dynacord and Studiomaster Spirit powered desks. Again expesnsive, but really good sound quality. I have used them

    Sweet Dreams...

Ive found it will mix in/out of any house track as the bpm is about 127 i think. Have not tried running it with anythig over the top yet though!
  5. You will need a decent multi channel sound card to start with. I have heard the soundblaster 5.1 has been recommended a few times. Anything that has a couple of outputs really, as you need to be able to have a headphone output aswell as a master out. Then you will need the software to work with. There are loads out there but the a couple are PCDJ, Traxtor or DSSDJ (as advertised on this site). Try some of the free demos and see which you like. If you have not done so already you will need to put all your cds onto your pc in mp3 format. Again there are a load of different programs to try.
  6. I would have voted for Pharrell but cant seem to for some reason http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/sad.gif . Mainly as he has had more influence in successful tunes than the rest (what with being half of the neptunes).
  7. Sony 700's for me. Bought them for £120 nearly 4 years ago now. They have lasted me well and are the best headphones i have ever used, would recommend them to anyone (especially as you can get them for under £100 now).
  8. Have PM'd you Spindoctor explaining a bit more. I like this forum and will continue to be a member here. If i am allowed! Chris said that a load of member accounts will be removed. Now i can understand this if they have not posted, but he said if the participation was not up to 10% then they are liable to be removed. My participation is not up to 10% yet (or it wanst before i wrote this post!), and i would be annoyed if my account was binned. Its nice to be able to be a member and read other peoples posts without feeling obligated to post myself. If i feel i can help, be constructive,
  9. I was one of the people who voted no. I in no way mean i dislike this forum, you asked 'Is this site the best DJ related forum on the net?', im just saying i prefer another. I have my reasons. QUOTE If they really thought "NO", then they wouldnt be one here to vote. Just because i prefer another does not mean i cant use this one does it? As to suggestions to improve this site, i dont really know. Its a good site and i like coming here. The only thing i can think of is that maybe there are too many different sections and sub-sections for the topics. But this is just my opinion, others

    Mixing Competition

I wouldnt mind entering, but i suppose i would have to get my posts up to 100 quickly then! The only question i have is how are you going to tell if it is a genuine live mix? Its not really fair as one person could to the whole thing in an editing program on their pc and put together a seamless mix without even touching a cd player, turntable or mixer!
  11. There is a funky house mix floating about at the moment but i cant find it. Heard Kiss 100 play it but they did not say who the mix was by. If anyone does find it, please let me know! Also the funkymix remix is pretty good, has parts from the original ignition in it.
  12. Wrong end of the stick! I mean proper flourescent tubes. The ones that run at about 10,000 volts, filled with neon, argon etc. Most electrical suppliers dont do these sort of transformers. Its for a nightclub i service. Have aquired a couple more tubes and just need the transformers to run them and need to find somewhere to get the transformers without having an account.
  13. Anyone know where the cheapest place to buy transformers for flourescent tubing is? Only need a couple to power say two tubes each, so they dont need to be huge. Cheers.
  14. Im quite into dance music, so here is some of the current stuff in my box: Double Dee - Shining Morjac - Stars Ultrabeat - Pretty Green Eyes Jurgen Vries - Wilderness Polaroid - So Damn Beautiful Dutch ft Crystal Waters - My Time Lee Cabrera - Shake It Junior Jack - E Samba Tim Deluxe - Less Talk, More Action Milk + Sugar - Let The Sunshine In State One - Forever And A Day Benny Bennassi - Satisfaction The Underdog Project vs Sunclub - Summer Jam 2003 Deepest Blue - Deepest Blue Jason Nevins ft Holly James - Im In Heaven As for older stuff, it depends on how far back you wa
  15. If you subscribe to Pop beats and Pop beats Extra, its only £25 a month. Not bad for three discs with at least 35 tracks altogether every month (71p a track at most!).
  16. I've been a member of the djinthemix site since it started and really like it. Used to be on the Neo/Black and Blue record label/s a while ago and i think it was them that decided to create the site to allow downloading of their tunes insted of sending out vinyl. The only problem is that some of the venues that i play at are more vinyl orientated which makes it difficult to play these new tracks (old cd players). Apart from that i think it is a really good idea.

    Bootleg wanted

Not sure about the stayin alive one, beats are a bit all over the place! I will stick to my Eminem 'Without Me' and MJ bootleg! (i know i did not do it first, but could not get a copy so i made my own version).
  18. I had the same argument with a friend a little while ago about 'old skool'. He was basically saying that any classic dance track is 'old skool'. And there are so many people that say the same, but 'old skool' is actually a style of music in itself. Just like garage or trance, it is a genre of music. The name was picked up by a few big companies to use as a name for compilation cd's with classic dance track on, and now everybody assumes thats what old skool is. Old skool is still being made by some people (the Ratpack spring to mind). It is not as popular as it used to be in the 90's, but th
  19. I received an e mail a little while ago from a company that sends me promo's, its small bits from an interview with Eric Morrillo (superstar dj and record label owner!). Thought i would post some of it for you to look at as its relevant to this topic. ------------------------------------------------------------ Digital CD decks challenge vinyl Erick Morillo is a keen supporter of the new equipment The success of a digital system that allows CDs to be scratched and mixed in the same way as 12-inch records could mean the death end of DJs using vinyl, a top DJ and record producer has
