[ Also.....while you are young - it can be hard not to try and burn the candle at both ends....so make sure you get your sleep and don't waste valuable shut eye posting in the early hours of the morning!!!!! Or you'll feel like an oil-rag when it comes to facing the daylight let alone anything else!!!! yes dad :bouncy:

  7. totally off topic, we were once the largest fairground in the south west of england. based in plymouth (plympton) until our yard got burnt down by the suffragettes in 1913 i think it was. there was a book written about us last year, hancocks of the west by stephen smith from the university of sheffield. there is still a phrase today in cornwall " done up like a sophie hancock" after my flambouyant ancestor. my cousin in currently vice chairman of the showmans guild and visits that way a lot as it is where we are all from. me - bristol dad - taunton rest of 'em we

    Duffy

heard the first few seconds of a new release by duffy on smooth fm earlier. missed the rest as i had to get out of the car. presenter said she was an amy winehouse style but more soulful i think he said. anyone heard it all and is it any good?
  10. dont buy one bro. just play a track in the time you take to change the disc. do you use a cdplayer for music b t w ? if you do use a double draw deck you can pause it as soon as the title begins to appear, as this lets the singer know their song is on next or just cue it up as you would a cd and let the screensaver run. personally i pause when the title shows. i play songs in between singers anyway, i dont rush them through all night long.
  11. yep soundlab 64.00 use it for punters who think a radio mic is cool. i use a sennheiser for myself as sound like a real singist thru it tongue out icon throw the vocals through a lexicon effects unit sounds great. i can adjust the vocal effects at the roll of a knob (phwarrr)
  12. lets all start anew and give phil what he has asked for. nothing ventured nothing gained. and it's possible we could all gain something.
  13. ok cs i keep seeing your siggy saying keep pasties cornish. now bro what is the correct way to spell pastie / pasty. and can you tell us the history of the real cornish pasty/ ie
  14. thought it was bit strange :wall: :ads:
  15. whos gotta pee down the garter? the dj? geez these yanks huh. :wall: and they can feed me as much cake as they want. as said i would initiate a serious dialogue re: the format and requirements as it might be totally alien to us. or even go onto an american dj forum for advice. there was an interview on here recently by steve ferino i think his name was. check out his interview and follow the info to his forum, he'll be the man to speak to i reckon. (gone to see if wifes garter smells of wee)
  16. i'd ask what they want bro. we all know they love to be either ott or sticklers for ettiquette. as its yankee / scottish i imagine kilts and tartan to figure heavily as will scots music. cant advise ya except to say, contact the parties organising it. as to laptop voltages they are on 110 / 120v i think not sure of hertz, but i imagine all you need is the transformer for your laptop as they are d.c.
  17. :welcome: :welcome: :toot: hope you enjoy it here. plenty of advice available very knowledgeable ppl here.
  18. i am surprised she had the 'balls' to admit to it in court. tho she does soound a little 'nuts'. if he was a tennis player at least he could say "new balls please" bet it hurt tho.
  19. well i am just jealous scarface, invite me over to a party bro. the best way to approach the lighting i think is carefully as the head height is minimal. try your local dj store and test drive some effects there, or browse online stores, plenty to choose from. being an install there is plenty of scope for the sound system and lights to built in and i don't think you will need a gargantuan sound system in a room so small. maybe a powered bass bin and some tops tastefully built in, i seen a retro dance floor for sale somewhere but cant remember where now. all lit up and flashing. now t
  20. ok guys, it is in this section purely so joe public cannot see what is for all intents and purposes a rift between differing opinions and views. no other reason. i trust the mods implicitly in this. also i cannot see the cause for such a rift. lets look closely at the situation and points. nadj charge a fee dju does not. now immediately that will pre determine what each has in their own particular charter, it has to. one has a source of income from it's members and must be seen to be accountable and transparent with it's accounts. it MUST be able to offer paying mem

  22. i just read this in the nadj's chairmans letter quote I will ensure that NADJ will work ever more closely with other DJ associations in order to provide, wherever possible, a united National voice speaking out on issues affecting DJs of all kinds in 21st century Britain and Europe. unquote make of it what you will.
  23. i do karaoke too and love it. ok i do get the sort of people that you mentioned but that goes with the job. i will try to accomodate them if i can but i tend not to let it get to me. i put on screen the next few singers sometimes and that seems to help. it's funny to me is the old okie cokie karaoke, i love the ones who cant sing. the good singers i put up with lol. great for getting girls names too :ads: kamakaze karaoke is fun as well, they dont know what they are gonna sing. can have a right laff doing that. but each to his own in the end i say.
  24. when using xlr to feed powered cabs do you lose any signal strength or quality by linking more than 1 cable together for extra length?
