  1. Was certainly an interesting night, not sure I've ever had one quite like it before :scared: There we were at 9PM saying we can't see much of this lot dancing, and at about 9-15, there was a full dance floor, and requests for cheese flying in thick and fast. By about 11-15, it hadn't let up, and by then we were starting to worry that the cheese had been spread too thin, and would be all gone by the 12 O'clock finish, but through sheer proffessionalism, we managed to pull through  It was an odd, but quite enjoyable night, and there was more than one set of very loooong l
  2. I use a piece of software called Roboform. The only password I have to remember is the one that's required to activate that. You can also set up profiles with it, which means you can input all your details, and nine times out of ten, when you go to fill in a form online it will fill in all the boxes for you. Well worth checking out.
  3. Only thing I'd add, is to buy decent quality branded bulbs, rather than supermarket own brands etc, they do make a difference.
  4. Charlene from Neighbours.........I'd never go out again
  5. You've been peeking I played a lot of 80's soul/funk and dance, the sort of stuff I used to play in clubs in another lifetime. Some examples : Booker Newbury 111 - Lovetown, Billy Griffin - Hold me Tighter In The Rain, Some Earth Wind And Fire, Change, Tom Brown, D Train and the one that kind of got me going was a Roy Ayers track. I also played some current stuff, a bit of Two Tone, 90's dance, spiller and the like, as well as a dollop of Kaiser Chiefs, Hard Fi and that kind of stuff, but it was the last hour and a half that I really enjoyed myself, especially when you get those
  6. I had a stonking gig last night, a bunch of people out for a good night, and who seemed to have either a similar taste in music, or an appreciation of my own taste in music. I spent a large part of the night playing tracks I love, and getting great feedback. There was a point when I got that feeling, the place is buzzing, I mixed into a track that I love, wound the volume up, and as the base kicked in, the whole volume and buzz emenating from the place just gave me a real feeling of exhiliration and a high, almost a feeling of power. Anybody else suffer with this affliction, or am I
  7. I voted for the third option, and the main reason being that I can't ever imagine a time when DJ'ing will pay me the equivalent of what I now earn. Maybe with a bit of luck and hard work, then I'll get to make the decision one day.
  8. Good points, but there will be people out there who either have full time jobs and struggle to find the time to do all the pre-gig stuff, and others who maybe either don't want to, or aren't very good at it. This doesn't mean they are bad DJ's, and they may be happy to do the bit they enjoy for a little less money, whilst someone else covers a fair bit of the admin and stuff.
  9. I think sometimes they juggle one or two tracks around so that the lesser songwriting talents of the band still get a slice of the royalties.
  10. Party theme, wot no Russ Abbott? I'll get me coat Carribean : Arrow - Hot Hot Hot, Going to Barbados,
  11. I badly, badly need to invest in new speakers, but can't make my mind up. I keep looking at things like these, but then see the weight of them, and me now having a pretty creaky back at the best of times, keep coming back to having something smaller and lighter, and then a sub to wheel out when really required. But then, decent base = decent sized speakers, completely undecided. Will probably end up building my own I think.
  12. I played "Rehab" on Saturday night, no big deal there, excepting I was doing a night on the banks of the river Blackwater, about a mile downstream from Osea Island where dear Amy is currently spending her time. We were all wondering if she may have heard it, probably not due to a strong wind, but on a calm night, with the flat marshland landscape we have sound literally travels for miles.
  13. Shakin' Stevens - Green Door

    My Setup

Personally I'd want to use a bigger amp, but I come from that school of thought which says give the amp the headroom, others may, and will disagree. What you're describing there though, could lead to problems unless you are very disciplined when using it, it's very easy to get carried away with a room full of bodies, and pay for it later. (so speaks the voice of experience)

    Dire Straits

I think the trouble with groups like Dire Straits is that they are a bit of a marmite. People either love them or hate them, rarely indifferent, so what you need is for the loud people to like them.
  16. It's raining men - Weather Girls
  17. Lay your love on me - Racey
  18. Touch Me - Samantha Fox ( think I might play this tomorrow)
  19. Lilly The Pink - Scaffold(?)

    Dire Straits

I'm sure you could dig out a super extended version of The Sultans Of Swing ;) I occasionally used to play Romeo and Juliet during the buffet bit, long time ago though.
  21. I Eat Cannibals - Toto Coelo
  22. I've been thinking about making some stackable boxes for stuff, trying to work it right so that they are a decent size for carrying and lifting, but can then be stacked up behind me for me to put my CD cases etc on, a sort of portable table. Got no problems making them, just not sure what to paint them with, I've seen so much home made stuff (and used a bit) where iy either looks all bashed and horrible in no time, or makes your hands go black.
  23. And you'll probably never have a problem, however as Jeff said, when you come to sell, a lot of mortgage companies will not lend against the property unless you have the appropriate paperwork now. Some weeks I spend nearly as much time filling in paperwork as I do playing with wires, and I'm also getting regular phone calls asking me to come and do Periodic Inspections on houses being sold. I've stopped doing them, 'cos there's always loads of problems which mean they fail, then I get grief for failing it.
