  1. I just popped into my local pc world and bought a pack of website clipart (£15) lots of backgrounds , buttons, gifs etc then put it all together with dreamweaver and flashmx. Easy way to get lots of images, for making your own images and graphics I use Corel Draw 9 and paint shop pro 8. Hope this helps Hayd Starmix Disco Webpage
  2. There is a full review here , well worth a look. http://www.tomshardware.com/video/20031111/index.html Hayd Starmix Disco http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  3. CD`s , what are they, something from the old days ??? !!! Not played one for 2 months now ! http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/dj.gif
  4. Thanks for the info / ideas . I`ll give some a try tonight I have yet another 12th birthday to do, will be nice to try some different things for them. cheers Hayd
  5. Thanks all, as Kazzachi said, it is a tricky split of ages especially 12 when the boy are wanting games and the girls are totally serious about music and far too mature LOL . I`m intrigued by your piggy back and crocodile games , how do you do them ?
  6. To convert my cd`s to mp3 I use ` easy mp3 ` . Connect to the internet , then put your cd in. Using CDDB it works out the track list for your albumn/single. You can then pick a compression ie 192k or 128k then encode the whole albumn, it will label all the mp3s for you. Best done on a main machine as I don`t like the thought of connecting the laptop to the net. Hope this is of some help Hayd Starmix Disco http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  7. Anybody got any suggestions for party games that go down well with 10 - 13 yr olds at discos. I do sets teaching them all the party dances + limbo dancing anyone got any suggestions for other things for this agegroup? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  8. I`m not sure what is avaiable to do that but you could easilly custom build yourself something useing a standard lighting contoller ( chase type ) by connecting the bulgin output to 4 plugs and using a slow chase you could change between effects . Just an idea anyway :-) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  9. Cheers Chris, not quite Gary glitter but he downloaded 12 dodgy pictures, then deleted them, but Fraud squad were watching, and as he was a copper he has been hit very hard. Finds out his sentance in a few weeks. Just be warned to be very carful when using kazzaa and similar programs and definately don`t look at any kind of adult stuff on there you never know what you might download !! If file sharing is on you also get charged with disribution ! Not my scene at all , just thought I`d make that clear !! Hayd
  10. 12-ghost free version is a cut down version of the pay one, I`ve not had a single pop u since installing 3 months ago and I also have an ad / spyware remover which found it to be clean. Be careful using Kazaalite , it still has spywear unless you install the hosts file into you windows directory properly. A friend of mine has been caught downloading dodgy pictures from kazaalite and could now face a prison sentance ( bloody idiot ). But the police had screenshots of his kazzaalite in action , so be warned !! Hayd Starmix
  11. I use a lite-puter CX-5 to controll my dmx lights, you get joystick controll over the direction of all or individual units , you can control all channels individually such as colour , gobo, strobe. Then build up scenes , or move them to music. Cost me £200 you`ll find quite a few similar controllers starting at about this price. As for your other lighting effects , I`m assuming they are sound- to - light , ie , just plug them in and enjoy type effect. I would say the easiest ( and cheapest ) way to control them is a switchpack, basically a rack mounted row of switches, one for each light
  12. Thanks for the advice guys. From what I`ve read up , using the laptop direct to the mixer will be ok to start with, then add a 4 + channel USB soundcard at a later date to allow you to play one track and cue up another on the laptop. Thanks all Hayd Starmix http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  13. Thanks for the info, I`ll look into it :-) http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  14. I`m going to get myself a laptop shortly , I`m just a bit concered about the sound card. Do you need a special one with 2 outputs ( independant ) or can you get laptops with the 3d type soundcards in ( rear channel outputs for cue ). Just wondered if anyone had a solution to having a cue output as well as main output ? Thanks Hayd Starmix http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  15. I used 12 Ghosts pop-up killer , it has a setting to get rid of the annoying messenger service pop ups. Available free from www.tucows.com http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  16. I`ll PM you for more details :-) THANKS http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/071.gif
  17. Meaning you can get some cheap or they are unreliable Ian ? http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
  18. I do agree the srm450`s sound great , however as the volume increases the sliding filter ( built in to stop the cabinets falling apart) cuts the bass down. I`m not looking for booming bass but I don`t what to lose it when the volume is up. Just keep the quality at a higher volume as needed in some venues
  19. I`ve currently got a pair of Mackie srm450 powered speakers which are excellent but my disco requires more bass. I was thinking of adding either a pair of mackie 1501 subs or a single 1801 sub. Any idea which would be best or are there any other good powered subs that would make a good match to my mackies ? Thanks in advance for any replies. Hayd Starmix Disco
  20. I`ve been looking at the appollo 30mw and the cosmic 20mw lasers , which is the best effect to go for ? DO they both do similar effects ? The video if more impressive for the cosmic but the appollo is supposed to be brighter any comments ? thanks for any info
  21. Can anyone recommend a foam machine for mobile disco use ? I do lots of childrens parties as well as 18th`s and teen parties. I hired an Antari S-120 but found the output a bit slow, is there anything better without needing a huge tank for fluid ? thanks for any help Hayd Noddy`s Disco Norfolk
