  1. Thanks for those answers, think I have Sussex it now, and why i did not do this before is beyond me! The mixer is a behringer vmx1000 and it does indeed have a dedicated subwoofer output. Silly thing is, there is only xlr output as imentioned before, so am thinking I will try a tenners worth of 2 into 1 xlr splitter cable first and take it from there. Bob
  2. Aha! That was the reply I was hoping for! My mixer does have a sub output, I will try it. I was hoping for good punchy bass but that has never been the case. The mixer has a single Xlr socket sub woofer output. How do I connect this to the kxr's twin xlr inputs? Is there such a thing as as a one into two xlr lead? Many thanks, Bob
  3. I may be about to make myself look pretty stupid asking a question like this but here goes. I have a pair of ac euro mid range speakers running off a warrior 600 watt amp. Superb, no problem. I also have a pair of 300 watt behringer bass bins running off a kam kxr1500 amp. The speakers are 4 ohm hence the big amp. What I cannot understand is that the bass bins do not seem to do much. Now here's the possibly stupid bit. The 600 watt amp is turned right up and I control the volume from the mixer. The big amp is turned up to just over half, because I do not want to blow the speakers up when the v
  4. I did a fancy dress 80's theme 40th birthday party just last Saturday. I was lucky, everyone was up for it, went from 20.00 till midnight with nothing but 80's stuff. The requests just kept coming so i did not have to think too hard. 80's being my era some requests brought back good memories and there were some good requests. Love and Pride by King anybody?? And don't forget living on the ceiling by blancmange which is the music to the current berrocca advert on tv. I would imagine an 80's theme for a 21st is going to be difficult because the majority of em will get fed up pretty quickly i wou
  5. Witch Doctor, Macarena any action/tongue twister type dance songs seem to go down well. Just watch out for knee sliders my friend!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. thanks for that recommendation sounds perfect, I would need it to be 19" rack mountable 1u space would be perfect, I will check out the behringer site. Bob
  7. Hello all, i need a bit of help with something i am struggling to get my head round. I want to add effects to my microphone channels.(Theres nothing worse than singing "dry"and am getting asked for more and more Karaoke gigs lately.) I use a twin wireless microphone which is connected to a behringer vmx1000 mixer. The mixer has effects send and return. So, i am figuring its a case of buying an effects unit and plugging it in to the effects send and return on the mixer, but this is the bit i do not understand... how do i make the effects affect the microphone channels only and not the actual
  8. I just bought a light that is almost exactly the same, an American DJ Revo 3. Used it for the first time on its own as a centrepiece light running sound to light on saturday night. Amazing. You might as well not bother with all your other lights. Great light show, simplicity to set up. (Just hang it up, plug it in and you are away!). I would even go as far as suggesting it is the only light you would ever need if you mainly did small pub venues with no set up room. (I wish i did this type of gig, hour plus set up times are getting harder and harder the older i get!!). Bob :spin:
  9. "Put some music on i can dance to." Hmmmmmm............... Anybody heard that one when the dance floor is heaving?
  10. TOTALLY agree with this one, and it works every time.
  11. Sorry for the delay in replying, i managed to check it all out the other night at my residency midweek while the function room was empty. It sounds absolutely fantastic. Clear, punchy, no distortion, good low bass if required. Did my first gig with it last Friday at a venue i sometimes do which is notorious for soaking up sound from PA systems. When the party was in full swing i put on a " going to the bog extended mix of whatever" song on and it sounded superb out on the dance floor. Best purchase i have made in a long time to be fair. Only drawback is that my Gator 19" Rack Case w
  12. Thanks for your help on this, listened to everybodys advice and bought another amp today. Also picked up my new speakers. So, am now running a pair of 300watt RMS 600watt Max AC Euro mid range speakers from the Warrior IS600 amp and a pair of Behringer 300watt 600 watt Max RMS subs from a KAM 1500 watt amplifier. That should do the trick! The AC Euros are 8 ohm speakers and the Behringer subs are 4 ohm. Have just finished fitting the new amp in my Gator Case, looks nice and full in there now!! Numark twin CD player, W Audio Twin Radio Mike, Behringer VMX1000 mixer, Warrior IS600 watt amp and
  13. Oh dear!! Darby and Joan club it is then! Only joking! Thanks for your help, i thought as much. I am a little ignorant when it comes to ohms and all that. I was originally running 4 x 8 ohm cabs off the one amp which worked ok for the size of venues that i regularly do (sub 150 people). The sound quality has never been the best i must admit, and now i have got my hands on some decent speakers i thought i would be looking at either a better (or adding) an amp. Could i buy a single amp that would do what i want? I am just thinking about space really. ta
  14. I hope someone can help me. I want to run two 4ohm subwoofers and two 8 ohm midrange speakers, but from 1 amplifier which will run to 4 ohms. The subs are 300w rms and the midrange speakers are 300w rms as well. The amp is 300 watt per channel. The amp is a warrior is600. Can this be done? Any help greatly appreciated. Many thanks in advance, Bob
  15. It was the start of the night. It was an 80th birthday party. I was not looking forward to it at all. And guess what? It turned out to be an absolutely fantastic night!!!! Just shows doesnt it??? Bob
  16. Hi all! Anybody out there doin a gig where the venue has got wifi and is logged on to this forum? I am!! Say hello! Bob Nobody eh? Good! We are all busy then or have not got wi fi!!! Thats what i wanted to hear!! Bob
  17. 12. Oh Dear. Guess i am sacked then. Bob
  18. Regarding how i kept a straight face with Hurry up Hairy Camel..... It was easy.................. I turned round and stuck a sock in my mouth!!! Ha ha! Bob
  19. I may be talking bollards now, but i think because the word "DJ" is now considered cool, because of the success of some of them in the charts, the majority of people especially the sub 30's age group, regard a DJ as a massive superstar as seen on MTV. Therefore, us humble mobile Jocks therefore fall in to the category of a bloke playin cd's all night. Thus, i think that a minority out there want to be seen in the same league as these superstar DJ's and want to distance themselves as far apart from the "Dave Doubledecks" type dj, in their opinion. There is nothing wrong with cons
  20. Oh dear. I did a gig where this sort of music was asked for. I think you will find the Genre is called "Utter Crap" Basically its that horrible thrash metal stuff with the lead singers sounding like they have just been run over by a bus and are just about to die in acute agony. I really feel sorry for you, and i am not joking. I can guarantee about ten from the party will love it and the rest will make their excuses and leave early. Just get paid and think about going home in x amount of minutes all night!! Best of luck. Bob
  21. I use an Acer aspire 2570 (I think thats the number!) with dual core, 2gb of ram, 80Gb harddrive along with an external 500gb harddrive. I have no songs stored on the computer at all and approx 17,000 mp3 tracks and 15,000 Karaoke and graphics tracks on the external harddrive. Works a treat!! The laptop was just short of £400.00 and the external harddrive was £75.00. Running additional programs as well as the Dj/Karaoke software (Virtual DJ Studio) is not a problem at all. (I also run a Numark twin CD player and a Yamada Multi Region DVD Player in case of emergency!) You wa
  22. I was once asked for.....wait for it........ HURRY UP HAIRY CAMEL by Sham 69. Then when i listened to it, because it is sung with a london accent by Jimmy Pursey the lead singer, it does actually sound like he is saying that!! For any of our younger DJ's who are wondering what the hell i am going on about, The song was called "Hurry up Harry" by a punk rock group called Sham 69. (back in the '70s!) The actual words are "Hurry up Harry, C'mon." Ho ho! Bob
  23. Crikey!! Sounds good! I was lucky, the power was supplied via an armoured cable plugged in to the club house then run in to an rcd box in the marquee. Most of the plugs were those blue round 3 pin connector things and one of them near where i was had an adaptor to convert to a 3 way extension of the normal 3 pin household type. Have never run off a generator before, i guess that will be another question i will be asking on this forum if it ever happens!! Bob
  24. Hi all, Said i would let all know how the wedding gig went in the marquee saturday gone. I posted my concerns about needing another amp and running 6 speakers etc last week and lots of you replied with very useful suggestions. The general concensus of opinion was don't think about too hard, you will probably be ok with the 4 speaker 600 watt rig that i normally use. You were right, it performed admirably, but once or twice i would have liked it a little bit louder, so what i will suggest is that if you had a 1k rig with your speakers on poles or stands it would be perfect.
  25. Seriously, The biggest one of the lot, everybody, is: Mr Brightside- The Killers. Try it. Trust me, it is an absolute winner, i would love to know why to be fair! Bob
