Up to my danglies in debt, pension will just about cover fish and chips once a week when i retire, live in a house can barely afford, 2 cars, a motorbike and a mountainbike, smoke fags, like take outs especially curries, other half has got more Next stuff than Next have got, just about to spend a small fortune on my rig which it will probably take 2 months of gigs to pay off and i don't really need the stuff i am buying, just spent £500 quid on repairs to my car which is only worth at best £600 but i am happy. Actually having read that back to my self i think i am going to shoot myself. Ri
  2. happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday you overcrowded island with a terrible transport infrastructure, happy birthday to you. Bob
  3. Welcome along to the land of spinning discs and flashing lights. You are gonna love it!!! Bob
  4. I had a boob tape once. It was a selection of televison out takes on a 60 minute vhs. Am i missing the point here? Bob
  5. Good one! What a great story! Must confess you can usually tell when your audience or certain members of the audience don't mind a bit of good humoured joking. Those sort of nights almost always turn out fantastic and you feel really good when you are driving home knowing that you have just put on a top notch bit of entertainment. Nice one! Bob
  6. Or if you work at a stainless steel engineering company with a nice boss you can build a custom made deck stand with integral 3mtr (with option to expand) lighting goalpost out of 20mm,38mm and 50mm diameter stainless steel tubing. Even though i say it myself it looks stunning! And it knocks down in less than 2 minutes and will fit easily into even a hatchback car. The only downside is that to get a company to make one for you you would probably be looking at knocking on for 8 or 900 quid. If anybody wants to know how mine was made and want some rough plans drop me a PM. The plans won't exactl
  7. Sorry for delay in replying just been out on my mountain bike for a bit of off road downhilling in the dark with not very good lights on the front!! That certainly took my mind off the weekends fracas! I knew i could rely on all you fellow top DJ's for words of good advice and similar stories and thanks to you all for the good comments! I feel a lot better about the whole thing now and it has now sailed firmly over my head and into the bin marked "D:cense:head"! Thanks to you all! Bobl Just been reading the post by Buskersball and had to laugh and wholeh
  8. You are absolutely bang right there. I must confess the idea of having door staff on would not really be workable at my residency, the club is in quite a posh area and the club is very well respected and even a bit of loud carrying on on the dancefloor is fairly rare. I guess it was just a one off. I have a confession to make to everyone. I have an old light called a La Bomba (guess you all know the one) lets just say it was off the light bar and placed with its handle up on the floor right at the side of me at the point where i kinda knew things were very likely to get nasty. Gotta be honest,
  9. Cheers for that guys. I have been djing for about 8 years or so now and even though i say it myself things are going very very well at the moment. I go on holiday at the end of March and have not got a spare saturday or friday night to myself befor then! Most of my bookings are by word of mouth or i get a booking on the night from someone who has been in the crowd, and yes its the first time something as bad as this has happened. I would be a liar if i said it hasn't got to me,it has! But i do feel better having written it down and had fellow dj's read the post and respond. Good therapy! Pleas
  10. Hi all, had to drop a line to tell you all about a particularly bad experience i had on saturday night and would welcome any comments you all may have. I must confess it did bother me a bit and am not one for long stories but need to get it off my mind by writing it down and letting other DJ's know about it. Bear with me on this one it needs a long story to explain fully! I am the resident DJ at a local Rugby Club which is very well respected in our area, nice venue, great people that work there, never usually any trouble other than the usual one or two drunks. To stick to the forum
  11. :tree: Yep! Merry Christmas Everyone! Hope you have all got full bookings and can go home in the early hours of January 1st thinking, "Right, what can i buy for my rig next with all this cash i have got."!! Bob
  12. Thanks for that! Am afraid am not very good with electronics, will probably just keep turning it on and off and wait till they die and buy some more! Bob
  13. Hi all! About 6 months ago bought some Funky passion barrel scanners from ebay secondhand. Well, fantastic effect and cheap too! I was that impressed with them i put a thread on here about how good i thought they were. And somebody replied and said, "see how they are in 6 months time." Mmmm, thought i. Well, i have had only two problems with them, both annoying more than anything else. Just wondered if anybody out there knew why the following faults were happening and if its happened to them. Fault 1. The light running in slave mode turns itself off two or three times during the night.
  14. Smoke fluid fragrance that smells of kebabs. Waterfall from lighting rig. Moving head lights that walk around the dance floor handing out glowsticks to the crowd. Headphones that light up to the beat of the music and emit multicoloured sparks. ( i actually had some of these but i think they were faulty cos i ended up in hospital with third degree burns to my lugs.) Big, huge, humungous speakers that light up and spew out foam. An automatic request device which is voice activated and puts on the requested tune shouted out by a member of the crowd EVEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE
  15. Try these: These are really popular dance music requests for me at the moment. Fedde le grand - Put your hands up for Detroit Bodyrox- Yeah yeah Mason-Exceeder Chris Lake- Changes Bob
  16. I got a machine mart one. £15.00. Lasted a month. No disrespect to machine mart but you get what you pay for. I now use flight cases with castors on (funnily enough, rubber wheeled ones from Machine Mart and they are very good about 4 quid each, the castors that is not the cases!) so suffice to say the sackwheels have been, er, well, sacked. Bob
  17. Ho ho! I have done all of those! Read an article about Fat Boy Slim in some bloody womans magazine or Sunday supplement and i know you can't take them as being gospel truth but he admitted that during one or two live gigs he has done he has turned up with a handful of premixed CD's and pretended to mix them himself by doing his trademark arm waving and circles in the air when he has just done a great mix and in fact has done nothing more than stick a CD in and let it play. Top man! Now, i cannot mix to save my life but i bet, like me, a lot of you have pretended to mix to a premixed CD with on
  18. Don't worry about it. Its all down to the dj's performance at the end of the day. 2K rig eh? Is that RMS or pretend max power? My rig is 600 watt rms in total and is plenty for medium sized venues. I have very rarely been asked to turn it up and to be fair have been asked a few times to turn it down! Its all very well quoting massive watt outputs and how much its all worth etc, but like a Ferrari, if the driver is crap you may as well use a fiesta. (No disrespect to Fiesta owners!) Bob
  19. You have got to play Prince Charming by Adam and the Ants. This is a must!! Another one that i am always asked for at 80's nights is Club Tropicana by Wham. Hope u have a good un! Bob
  20. Ha ha ha ha i have got one, straight from the pages of viz magazine who are running a "companies with the word solutions in their name to make them sound really good" slot. How about "Aural and Sensory Portable Entertainment Solutions" or ASPES for short. http://www.dj-forum.co.uk/html//emoticons/wacko.gif Ho Ho! Bob
  21. Chuck on some mavericks, some abba, jive bunny rock n roll mix and some of those songs you have listed. I would start with some downtempo stuff very middle of the road such as your Roy Orbison, Bobby Vinton Blue Velvet blah blah blah. Then stick some of your 60's songs, on do some very well known 70's numbers, very well known 80's stuff. Just try not to play anything even remotely obscure keep it all top ten through the years you are doing. Check out all the hits.co.uk for a listing of top ten songs through the years and take it from there. You will probably find that as the night goes on they
  22. Oh christ i hope i have got this right! I eat CANNIBALS - Toto Coelo Go on, someone tell me thats wrong! I can take it! Bob
  23. At a young uns do (well, under 35!) at the moment i have got to say its Hips don't lie by Shakira. Why? You do the math! (Its also great so all the blokes can stand and watch while all the women gyrate) Please note i am not a perv!! Bob
